Annette Marie (Gottschalk) Gale
Annette Marie (Gottschalk) Gale died peacefully on Feb. 19, 2003, after a courageous battle with lung disease. Born on April 2, 1923, to Christian Frederick and Anna Marie Gottschalk in Ridge Wood, N.Y., she was 80 years old.
She graduated in 1941 from Malvern High School in Malvern, Long Island. After graduation, she worked as a local and long distance telephone operator. She also worked on Wall Street for Kidder Peabody Brokerage Firm.
She met her husband, Robert, in 1942 and they marriage on Feb. 4, 1945, recently celebrating 58 years of marriage. The couple made their first home in Lubbock, Texas, where he was stationed after World War II. In 1947, they moved to Winters and lived there until 1960, when they moved to Davis and made their home in Willowbank.
She was a devoted wife and mother who took pride in her personal appearance and her home, decorating with a collection of antiques that her residence a true show place.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two loving sisters, Adelaide Parker and Elenor Shade.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; two sons, Mark and Allen Gale of Davis; and two daughters, Robin Gale of West Sacramento and Laura Gale of Winters. She is also survived by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Anthony's Parish Hall, 511 Main St. in Winters.
GALE
Betty Joyce Gale
Betty Joyce Gale passed away on Aug. 17, 2005 at her home in Winters, after a brief, yet courageous, battle with lymphoma. She was born on July 23, 1936, in Concord, where at the age of 19, she marriage Eugene Gale.
The family resided in Winters until 1978, when they moved to the Lake Almanor area. There, Betty worked for 11 years as a computer programmer at Collins Pine Company. She and Eugene returned to Winters in 1999, where Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, as well as crocheting afghans, which she gave as gifts to friends and family. She also donated the afghans to the church. She loved to write poetry, enjoyed musicals, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Parish in Winters and St. Martin’s Altar Society in Esparto.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Eugene; parents Ralph and Katherine Johnson, of Rancho Cordova; sons Edward Gale and his fiance, Carolyn Chambers, of Winters, and Christopher Gale and his wife, Brenda, of Knights Landing; daughter Wendy (Gale) Stroud and her husband, Steven, of Brentwood; grandchildren Nicholas and Brannon Gale, of Buckley, Washington, Jessica Gale, of Sacramento, Zachary Gale, of Paradise, Skyler Gale, of Knights Landing and Amie and Steven Stroud, of Brentwood; great-grandson Jonah Reitan, of Sacramento; sisters Sheila (Johnson) Marinelli and her husband, Paul, of Rancho Cordova, and Shirley (Johnson) Warren, and her husband, Robert, of Concord; brother Ralph Johnson, Jr., and his wife, Donna, of Wimberley, Texas.
She is also survived by many other cherished family members, as well as devoted family pet, Danny.
A viewing was held on Monday, Aug. 22, followed by the recitation of the Rosary, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, in Winters. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at St. Anthony Parish Hall, followed by interment at the Winters Cemetery.

GALE
Mark Andrew Gale
Mark Andrew Gale died at Sierra Convalescent Home in Davis on May 5, 2005 after a brave and courageous struggle with cancer and failing health.
Born October 21, 1957 in Woodland he was the son of Robert and Annette Gale.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother in February, 2003. He is survived by his loving father, Robert Gale of Davis, sisters Laura Gale of Winters and Robin Gale of West Sacramento, and brother Allen Gale of Davis, aunts and uncles Bud and Laura Manger of Davis, Elizabeth Struss of Pleasanton, Gerald and Louise Gale of Woodland and Gene and Betty Gale of Winters. He is also survived by numerous cousins.
A private gathering to honor and remember Mark will be held at a later date.
NAAKE
Evah Stirlen Naake
Evah Stirlen Naake died at Hemet Valley Medical Center, Hemet Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at age 87.
Born Oct. 12, 1916, in Porter, Okla., Mrs. Naake had been a Woodland resident for five years. She resided in Orange County from 1954 to 1985 and was a resident of Hemet for 1 1/2 years. She was a saleswoman for 15 years, six of those years for Walker and Lee in Garden Grove.
Survivors include her Gay Giacometto of San Jacinto; son, Herbert Naake of Woodland; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Harford Funeral Home of Hemet.
Services: Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 6, at Harford Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Fairhaven Memorial Park, 1702 Fairhaven Ave., Santa Ana.
NAKADA
Kimiko "Kimi" Nakada
Kimiko "Kimi" Nakada, a 27-year resident of Davis, died July 5, 2005, at Courtyard Health Care Center after a lengthy illness. She was 86.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at noon Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Davis, 38141 Russell Blvd. Burial will precede the service, at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road.
Born on Aug. 31, 1918, in Salinas to Nisaku and Kayo Hosaka, she grew up in San Mateo where she graduated from high school. She later attended Bible College in Huntington Park. She enjoyed all types of craft work and sewing. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Davis.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Yoshio Nakada of Davis.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.
NAKAI
Juanita May (Gibson) Nakai
Juanita May (Gibson) Nakai died in her Woodland home Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at the age of 76.
Born May 19, 1923, in Alma, Arkansas, Mrs. Nakai had been a Yolo County resident for nine years. In 1990 Mrs. Nakai and her husband George resettled in Woodland. She was the daughter of the late George and Oved (Smith) Gibson, who were famous for their "Gibson Baskets." She was a third generation basket maker. According to her family, "while living in Arkansas, she made baskets and enjoyed going to craft shows and sharing the History behind the Gibson Baskets." She graduated from the UC Sacramento in 1970.
Mrs. Nakai is survived by her husband, George Nakai of Woodland; daughters, Mae Lee (Burson) Dove and husband Earl of Gentry, Arkansas; Davia Sue (Burson) Westbrook of Winters; Patsy (Burson) McGree of West Sacramento; sons David Lee Burson Jr. and wife Rae of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Harvey Earl Burson of Woodland.
She is also survived by her brothers, Earl Gibson and wife Melba of Huntsville, Arkansas, and Don Gibson and wife Ann of Fayetteville, Arkansas; aunt, Ellen Gibson of West Fork, Arkansas; cousin Pauline Hata and family; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces; and cousins from the Gibson, Smith, Curry, Burson and Kelly families.
Mrs. Nakai was preceded in death by her brothers Charles, Howard and Harvey; sisters, Virginia and Thelma; uncles, John Tutor, and Bill; and aunts, Maude Kelly, Nancy Curry and Arvella (Smith) Williams.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Aug. 25, at the Kraft Brothers Funeral Home.
A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 26, at Kraft Bros. Family and friends will be fathering at the Idelwheel clubhouse for a potluck after the funeral.

NAKAMURA
Hatsuye (Shimamoto) Nakamura
Hatsuye (Shimamoto) Nakamura of Woodland passed away in her home on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at the age of 86. Born in Isleton, Ca. on April 8, 1916, Mrs. Nakamura has been a resident of Woodland for 60 years.
When she was a child, her family returned to their small farm in Kiri Kushi, Japan, where she was raised and attended school. She worked on the family farm, and in 1940 returned to California and marriage Dick R. Nakamura of Woodland. During WWII, they were interned in the Japanese relocation camp in Amache, Colo. Together they raised six children in Woodland: Louise, Jerry, Pearl, Tom, David, and Alan. She was a devoted wife and mother for the remainder of her life.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years; her brothers, George Shimamoto of Irvine, Texas, William Shimamoto and wife Alice of El Cerrito; sisters, Misao Habara and Mitsuno Shirokoma of Japan; children, Louise Kanda and husband Shigeo of Chico, Jerry Nakamura and wife Carole of Sunnyvale, Bob Uyeda (Pearl's husband) of Sacramento, Tom Nakamura of Woodland, David Nakamura and wife Peggy of Carmichael, and Alan Nakamura and wife Carrie of Woodland; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service was held on Sunday, March 2, at the Sacramento Buddhist Church. In lieu of flowers or memorials, the family of Hatsuye Nakamura requests that donations be made to the Buddhist Church of Sacramento, 2401 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento 95818; or to the charity of donor's choice.
