Rikizo "Dick" Nakamura
Rikizo "Dick" Nakamura of Woodland passed away in his home on Aug. 30, 2005, at the age of 102. Born in Yamaguchi-ken, Japan on March 4, 1903, Mr. Nakamura has been a resident of Woodland for over 80 years.
In his early years, Mr. Nakamura was raised by his grandmother in Japan. At the age of 16, he came to Woodland where he was reunited with his father Rokutaro, and mother Tsuna, Nakamura. He worked with his father and brothers at the family store, currently known as Nakamura Bros. Furniture. In 1940, he marriage Hatsuye Shimamoto.
During WWII, Mr. and Mrs. Nakamura and family were interned in the Japanese relocation camp in Amache, CO. After WWII, they returned to Woodland, where Mr. Nakamura ran the family store. He retired in the late 1970s after suffering a stroke.
He was preceded in death by his wife Hatsuye, brothers Toshio and Shigeo Nakamura, sister Haruko Hisatomi, and daughter Pearl Uyeda.
He is survived by his brother, George Yoshio Nakamura and wife Yoshiko of Woodland, Bette Nakamura (sister-in-law) of Selma, his children: Louise Kanda and husband Shigeo of Chico, Jerry Nakamura and wife Carole of Sunnyvale, Bob Uyeda (son-in-law) of Sacramento, Tom Nakamura of Woodland, David Nakamura and wife Peggy of Carmichael, Alan Nakamura and wife Carrie of Woodland, plus 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private burial service for Mr. Nakamura was held on Friday, Sept. 9, at the Woodland Cemetery. A private memorial service was held on Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Sacramento Buddhist Church.
In lieu of flowers or offerings, the family requests that donations be made to the Buddhist Church of Sacramento, 2401 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento, 95818, or to the charity of the donor's choice. McNary's Chapel of Woodland assisted the family with arrangements.
NARDIELLO
Patsey Roberta Nardiello
Arizona native Patsey Roberta Nardiello, a Yolo County resident for eight years, died on July 20, 2004, at Alderson Convalescent Hospital in Woodland. She was 64.
Born Oct. 19, 1939, she was raised in Parker, Ariz., and attended high school there. She moved to Yolo County eight years ago. She was a housekeeping supervisor for the International Inn and Clarion Hotels in several areas for 12 years.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Anchorage, Alaska.
Survivors include her husband Tony Nardiello of Woodland; daughter Tina Clausen of Eureka; five sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim Stejskal of Auburn, Richard Stejskal and Bill Legg of McKinleyville, and Woodland residents Tony Stejskal, Tony Nardiello Jr. and his wife Sue. She also is survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death in 1996 by her mother Lola Fortner.
A private interment service will be held at Sunrise Cemetery in Fortuna.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland.
NASH
Nellie Nash
Nellie Nash died at home on Jan. 3, 2003. She was 89 years old. Born May 24, 1913, in West Hartlepool, England, to James and Mary Duthie, she came to this country at the age of 10. The family moved to Davis several years later where her father became a building contractor. He built several houses in College Park as well as many more houses scattered around Davis.
After graduating from Davis High School, she worked as a telephone operator downtown. In her spare time she played softball where she met her future husband, Robert Nash, who was the team manager. In 1939, the couple was marriage at Davis Community Church.
In years past she belonged to the Circle D folk dancing club as well as the Square Rounders club in Sacramento, where she learned how to call square dances.
She was active in the local Davis Lions Club and served as president several years ago. Other clubs included Order of the Eastern Star and Library Club. In 1934, members of the Davis Library Club had to be single and she was the youngest member of the club for a long time.
She enjoyed collecting antiques and going deer hunting in Nevada. She and her husband traveled to each of the 50 states and made trips Denmark, China, New Zealand and the British Isles.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Nash of Davis; daughter, Carol Nyholm and her husband Charles of Davis; grandchildren, Steven Nyholm of Sacramento, Mary Carstensen and her husband Niels of Denmark; and great-grandchildren, Martin and Elisabeth Carstensen of Denmark. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Somers of Sacramento, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother James, who was killed in World War II in 1944; her son, James, who was killed in Vietnam in 1968; and a granddaughter, Christina Nyholm, who died in 1974.
A fund has been established in her memory through the Davis -Lions Club for the purpose of assisting those in the Davis community who are in need. Contributions may be sent to Davis Lions Club c/o Bob Zehnder, 340 G St., Davis, CA 95616.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Davis Community Church, 412 C St.
NASH
Robert James Nash
Robert James Nash died at home on Jan. 16, 2004. He was 94 years old.
Born Jan. 15, 1910, in Ireland to Cornelius and Sarah Nash, he came to this country at the age of 14 in 1924. The family settled in Redlands to be close to other Irish relatives.
After graduating from high school, Nash came to Davis in 1931 as an ornamental horticulture student at UC Davis when the town had 2, 700 people and the city limits were defined by First, Seventh, A and L streets. Several years later, he met Nellie Duthie when he was the manager of the girl's softball team and she was a player. They dated for two years before marrying on Feb. 4, 1939, at Davis Community Church.
While Nash was working at UCD, Central Park was being planned. His landscape class planted the trees for just $52. He was a member of the original Street Tree Committee in Davis. The rest of his working years were spent as a field supervisor for various seed companies.
In his spare time, he loved to go fishing, hunting and camping. He and Nellie made many deer hunting trips to Nevada with friends. He also loved gardening and spending time with family.

He is survived by his daughter Carol and her husband Charles Nyholm of Davis; grandchildren, Steve Nyholm of Sacramento and Mary Carstensen and her husband Niels of Denmark; and great-grandchildren, Martin and Elisabeth Carstensen of Denmark.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie, who died in January 2003; his son, James who was killed in Vietnam in 1968; and a granddaughter, Christina Nyholm, who died in 1974.
A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday at Davis Community Church, 412 C St.

NAVARRO
Eustolia Urbano Navarro
Eustolia Urbano Navarro died on Thursday, April 29, 2004, at age 69 in her Woodland home. She had been a resident of Yolo County for 31 years and was a native of La Piedad Michoacan, Mexico. She was a migrant worker and housewife.
Mrs. Navarro is survived by her husband, Leopoldo Urbano and her children, Rodolfo, Raul, Rosa, Alfredo Leopoldo Jr., Epifanio, Juan, Cecilia and Lucy. She is also survived by grandchildren, Wendy, Carlos, Brian, Roxy, Raul, Alfredo Jr., Ilse, Brandon, Raul Antonio, Lezlee and Vividian. She was preceded in death by her brother Mardonio Navarro.
Services: A vigil service is scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, at McNary's Funeral Chapel in Woodland. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 5, at Holy Rosary Church in Woodland. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. McNary's Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
NAVARRO
Pauline Florence Budinski Navarro
Pauline Florence Budinski Navarro died in Beaverton, Ore. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 at age 85.
Mrs. Navarro was born Oct. 14, 1919 in Alberta, Canada. She had been a Yolo County resident for 20 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Survivors include Mrs. Navarro's daughters, Janice Green and her husband Carl of Portland, Ore. and Diane Campion and her husband Don of North Carolina; her granddaughters, Jennifer Eslick and her husband Greg of Castro Valley; Jessica Green of San Francisco, Caroline Cox and her husband Michael of Portland, Ore. and Bridget Moore and her husband Michael of Vacaville; her grandsons, Scott Green of Portland, Ore. and Robert and Michael Campion of North Carolina; her great-granddaughter, Marisa Moore of Vacaville; her great-grandsons, John and Matthew Moore of Vacaville and Zachary Eslick of Castro Valley; her sisters, Mabel Sharun and Jane Wright both of Canada and her brothers, Michael, Adam and Emil Budinski all of Canada. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Navarro and her son, Robert Navarro.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. Navarro's name be directed to the Alzheimer's Association of Northern California, 2222 Watt Ave., Suite D-1, Sacramento, 95825.
Services: Visitation is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 with a vigil at 6 p.m. at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland. Interment will follow the Mass at 3:15 p.m. at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Woodland. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.

Carissa M. Nead
Carissa M. Nead of Belton, Mo., died June 15, 2005. She was 6 years old.
A funeral Mass begins at 7 p.m. today at St. Sabina Catholic Church in Belton, Mo. Graveside services begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Raymore Cemetery in Raymore, Mo.
Born June 14, 1999, in Indianapolis, Ind., she attended Gladden Elementary School.
She is survived by her father, David Nead of Columbus, Ohio; her mother, Karin Nead and her fiance Arcenio Velez, brother Devon Nead and sister Megan Nead, all of Belton, Mo.
She is further survived by her grandparents, Dennis and Carolyn Nead of Lake Almanor; Patricia Johnson of Davis; Albert and Virginia Johnson of Fairfax, Va.; and Rita Gray of Colorado Springs, Colo.
