Emmerson Russell Rivard
Emmerson Russell Rivard, aged 77 years, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2005 at his Woodland home.
Born on May 24, 1928 in Newport, Michigan to Russell and Unice (Venier) Rivard, he graduated from Monroe High School class of 1946. After high school he moved to San Jose and attended San Jose State University where he obtained his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Mr. Rivard was employed by Lockheed in the aerospace industry for 20 years, and continued his career close to aeronautics working at the municipal airport for the City of San Jose as Senior Electrical Engineer until his retirement in 1984. He was a Yolo County resident for the past five years, after traveling various areas, and was a lover of the outdoors, nature and wildlife.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nancy Rivard of Woodland; a daughter, Virginia Neese and husband Ronald of Woodland; sons, Stanley James and wife Fern of Orangevale, and Robert Martinez and wife Charley of Winters; and a sister, Mary Burton of Newport, Michigan. His legacy also leaves seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Russell and Unice Rivard.
Future plans for a Celebration of Life are to be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Yolo Hospice in his name. Assisting the family with arrangements is Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland.
RIVERA
Mary Rivera
Mary Rivera passed away at the home of her daughter Helen Nitzkowski, in Winters, on May 18, 2003. Born in Hawi, Hawaii on Dec. 12, 1914, she was 88 years old.
Mary lived all of her adult life in the Fairfield area until failing health caused her to move to Winters.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Helen and her husband Howard; sons John and his wife Darlene, Jim, and David and his wife Patty, all of Fairfield; brother Louis Rumi of Fairfield; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; two nieces, one nephew, several cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband John; parents Carmen and Celestino Cortez; stepfathers Domingo Sierra and Joseph Rumi; brother Manual Rumi and sister Marie Rumi.
All are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, May 27, from 5 to 9 p.m. with the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 28 at the Bryon-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 West Texas Street, in Fairfield, with interment following at the Fairfield Cemetery.
Kaiser Hospice and the National Kidney Foundation are the suggested recipients of any donations given in memory of Mary.
RIZZI
Julia Ann Rizzi
Julia Ann Rizzi passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2000, at Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento. Born in Borger, Texas, on Aug. 19, 1909, she was 90 years old. A 22-year resident of Winters, Julia loved to bowl. There’s plenty of trophies to prove she was a good bowler. Julia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Rizzi is survived by her children, Kenneth Reid of Sacramento, Ann Bryant of Winters, Lynda Christiansen of Placerville, Melvin Reid of Sacramento, Donna Myers of Sacramento, William Reid of Colorado, and Scharlene Reid of Winters; sister, Bonnie Martin of Bakersfield; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Rizzi; daughter, Wanda Burgess; brothers, Buck, Jack, Pete and Judie Savage; sisters, Ida Harris and Jonny McKoy; and son-in-law, Reverend Marvin Bryant in 1993.
Memorial services were held at the Freewill Baptist Church at Haven and Edwards streets on Monday July 17, at 1 p.m. Donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
RIZO
Randy Maher Rizo
Randy Maher Rizo passed away on Monday, Aug. 5, 2002 in Sacramento following a sudden illness. Born on Sept. 27, 1948 in San Francisco, he was 53 years old.
Mr. Rizo was a lifelong resident of Vacaville. He was a self-employed honey manufacturer for Blue Ridge Mountain Honey Company for the past 10 years. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was an avid sportsman and former Little League coach.
Mr. Rizzo is survived by his wife Deborah; sons Mykel and Matthew and daughters Courtney and Trish and parents Ambrosh and Helen Reguera, all of Vacaville; sisters Michelle Sarrao of Vacaville, Mariaelena Anselmo of Dixon, Pajie Young of Calistoga and Julie Baricosa of Napa; brothers joseph Reguera of Massachusetts, Bobbie Reguera of Sonoma and Richie Reguera of Vallejo and loving companion Cheryl Clift of Vacaville.
A celebration of life was held for Mr. Rizzo on Friday Aug. 9 at the Nadeau Family Funeral Home. Inurnment was private.
KING
Clarence R. King
Clarence R. 'Lee' King, 88, died April 29, 2000, in his Paradise home. He was born May 28, 1911, in Petaluma, to John and Bertha King.
He was a UC Davis graduate. During World War II he served as a supply officer and reached the rank of major.
He was a real estate agent from 1933-1983, retiring at the age of 72. He last worked for Lyon's Real Estate.
Prior to his retirement, he served as the president of the Board of Realtors and was a member of the Elks and Kiwanis clubs. He was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lanita and Clifford Rose of Paradise; brother, John King of Petaluma; sister, Josephine Traversi of Petaluma; and one granddaughter, Jenna Rose of Paradise.
A memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Petaluma. Private burial will follow.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the St. Thomas More School, care of Rose Chapel Mortuary, 6382 Clark Road, Paradise.
KING
James Stanley King
James Stanley King of Esparto died at Woodland Memorial Hospital on Friday, April 4, 2003, at age 87.
Born Oct. 7, 1915, in Marktree (Marked Tree), Ark., Mr. King had been a Yolo County resident for 70 years. He was the son of the late James L. and Donna (Barham) King. He worked in Clarksburg area as a ranch hand for Pylman Ranches for 60 years before retiring.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret King; sons, Allen King and wife Diane of Sacramento, Bill King and wife Darlene of Sacramento; stepson, Clifford Brizendine and wife Christina of El Sobrante; daughters, Brenda Gregory of Brentwood, Barbara Ghiselli and husband Richard of Union City, and Shirley Carpenter and husband Don of Vader, Wash.; daughter-in-law, Yvonne King of Woodland; brother, Curtis King of Elk Grove; and sister, Mildred Joslin of Stillwater, Minn.; 21 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Curtis King in 1994; and daughter, Betty Metzger.
The family requests memorials be directed to Alzheimer's Association, 2222 Watt Ave., Suite D-1, Sacramento 95825; or to the Esparto Volunteer Fire Department, Esparto, 956227, in his behalf. Arrangements are under the direction of Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland.
Services: A graveside committal service of his cremains is schedule for 1 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, at Capay Cemetery, Esparto, with Pastor Floyd Mauldin officiating.
KING
John Colen King
John Colen King passed away on Jan. 5, 2005. Born in Wichita, Kansas, on Oct. 23, 1928, he was 76 years old. Mr. King moved to Oregon as a child and was raised in Medford. He joined the Marine Corps in 1945, serving with honors in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He marriage Lee Ella Landers in 1951 and spent 20 years in the Marine Corps. After retiring in 1968, he moved to Winters, owning an air-conditioning maintenance service until retirement. He then traveled from the Oregon coast to Lake Havasu, Arizona. He loved fishing and golfing. He is survived by his wife, Lee Ella King; daughter Jan E. Pease, of Portland, Oregon; sons Richard C. King, of Sutter and Derril J. King, of Lakeport; sisters Colleen Chill and Louise Sparling of Oroville; brothers Dennis I. King, of Somerset and Richard King, of Bakersfield; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Renee F. King in 2003. Arrangements are under the direction of Jones Mortuary, in Lakeport.
