LeRoy Aloysius Wahl
LeRoy Aloysius Wahl, 76, died on Sunday, March 28, 2004, at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
A resident of Yolo county for 61 years, Mr. Wahl was born on Aug. 30, 1927, in Selby, S.D. He owned and operated Wahl Trucking for more than 50 years and raised Percheron draft horses as well. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his first and second wives, Beva Wahl and Armida Wahl; daughters, Cynthia Brock and her husband Dan of Esparto, and Brenda Siemering and her husband Bill of Portland, Ore. Other survivors include his sister, Janice Toms and her husband Darrell of Sacramento; step-daughters, Danell Alarcon, Gay Duncan and Kimberly Patterson; brother, Llewellyn Wahl of Sacramento and sister-in-law, Julie Wahl of Woodland. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents and brother, LaRue Wahl, preceded him in death.
The family requests memorials be directed to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland.
Services: A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2004, at Monument Hill Memorial Park. There will be no visitation prior to the services. Burial is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Monument Hill.
WHALON
Marion Hollingsworth Whalon
Marion Hollingsworth Whalon died June 22, 2005, at Courtyard Health Care in Davis. She was 93.
She was born May 24, 1912, in Barnegat, N.J., and was a retired librarian. She resided in Yolo County for 25 years.
She was fluent in German, earned a master's degree from UC Berkeley, edited and published a research guide and traveled to Europe and Asia on several occasions.
She is survived by Madge K. McDougall of New Jersey.
She will be cremated through the Neptune Society, and her ashes will be scattered at sea.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Yolo County public administrator.
WALGENBACH
Susan M. Walgenbach
Susan Margaret Walgenbach died on March 14, 2000. Born on Nov. 28, 1908 in Granville, Iowa, she was 91.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Susan and her late husband, Jake, were residents of Davis since 1941 and they operated Jake's Plumbing since 1948. She will be cherished in the memory of her family and of all who knew her for her kindness, generosity and beauty of spirit, family members said.
Until recent years, she was an active member of Soroptimist International of Davis and she was its last surviving charter member. She was a former president of the local chapter and served for 25 years as chairman of Second Horizons, a Soroptimist sonsored meals program for senior citizens.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Mart Gilbert "Jake" Walgenbach; her son, Robert; daughter, JoAnne Walgenbach Lorr; and grandson, Mark Walgenbach.
She is survived by her three daughters, Germaine Hupe, of Davis and her husband Howard, Judith Braden of Providence, R. I., and her husband, William, and Susan Telford of Elm Grove, Wis., and her husband, Gordon; and four sons, Lowell of Gridley and his wife, June, Gary of Arbuckle and his wife Penny, Frederick of Carmichael and his wife, Judi, and Wayne of Davis and his wife, Susan.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Roland Valle, Kandi Yando, Bruce Hupe, Jill Skov, Jeffrey Hupe, Brian Walganbach, Meredith Braden, Abigail Braden, Amanda Braden, Ashley Barnard, Elizabeth Telford and Andrew Telford; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at the Davis Funeral Chapel. A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Catholic Church, the Soroptimist Internation of Davis Memorial Scholarship fund of the American Alzheimer's Association.
WALKER
Gertrude “Gertie” May Walker
Gertrude “Gertie” May Walker, passed away on Dec. 24, 2005 at Sutter Davis Hospital in Davis, California. She was born on July 6, 1936 in Ventura County California.
Gertie will be greatly missed by her friends and acquaintances. She is survived by her partner, Adelaido Rodriquez; children, Tracie and Bob Dore, Terry Walker, Clint and Marie Walker, Craig and Debby Walker, Clayton and Juanita Walker, Tammy and Dan Grabenhorst, Tinna Walker, Trudy and Joel Collins, adopted son, Steven Collette; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; brothers, Thomas Hand and Frank Hand. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy “Russ” Walker.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
WALKER
Gertrude Francis Martin Walker
Gertrude Francis Martin Walker of Woodland died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006 at age 96.
Mrs. Walker was born Dec. 11, 1909 in Lenox, Iowa to the late George and Fannie Martin. She had been a Yolo County resident for about seven years. She was a graduate of Whittier College in Whittier. She worked as an elementary school teacher and as a housemother at the University of Idaho-Moscow and at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Roseburg, Ore. and Woodland.
Survivors include Mrs. Walker's sons, Paul W. Walker and his wife Carol, Martin D. Walker and his wife Betty Jo and Warren R. Walker and his wife Carol Jo; her grandchildren, Wendy Walker Davis, Tamara Brunson, Randy Walker, Kara Walker Clarkson, Robert Walker, Wesley Walker, Trina Walker March, Sabrina Chudamolka and Andy Walker; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and her sister, Eunice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil R. Walker; her parents; and her sister, Margretta Paine.

Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at United Methodist Church of Woodland, 212 Second St., Woodland, with Dr. Warren Walker officiating. Inurnment will a private service at Monument Hill Memorial Park. North Sacramento Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
WALKER
Janine Marie Walker
Janine Marie Walker, formerly of Davis, died unexpectedly of natural causes at home on June 4, 2005. Born Aug. 21, 1962, in Whittier, she was 42 years old.
A visitation will run from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D St. A celebration of her life will follow at noon Friday at the Putah Creek Lodge in the UC Davis Arboretum.
She grew up in Fullerton and attended UC Davis, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in geography, and has lived in the area ever since. Upon graduation, she went to work for Progressive Insurance Co., where she remained until her death.
She had many enjoyments in her life, especially camping, spur-of-the-moment meals with friends, dining at Dos Coyotes and the St. Pauli Inn, and traveling. She especially loved cats. Her unassuming manner and easy nature made her an honorary member of the families of many of her closest friends.
"Janine could best be described as the best and most loyal friend a person could hope to have, " her family says.
For the past nine years, she was active in the Susan Komen Race for the Cure and her legacy will continue with the entry of "Team Neener" beginning next year.
"She was loved greatly by her famly and friends and will be missed tremendously, " her family says.
She is survived by her father, John T. Walker and his wife Joy of Diamond Bar, and her mother, Pamela Krisman of Fullerton. She is further survived by her three brothers, John Walker of Southern California, Robert Walker of San Diego and David Walker of Newport Beach. She also leaves her fiancé, Brian Hamilton of Sacramento, and countless friends.
In lieu of flowers, the Walker and Hamilton families request that charitable donations be made in her name to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, P.O. Box 65039, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.

WALKER
Jean "Fidelia" Walker
Jean "Fidelia" Walker died at her home in Woodland Monday, July 4, 2005 at age 83.
Mrs. Walker was born March 17, 1922 in Ellis, Kan. She had been a Yolo County resident for 31 years. She worked as an X-ray technician for many years in the health care field. She was a member of the Eastern Star and received Grand Electra appointment in Jackson, Sweetheart of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion of Sun Valley, Ben Ali Temple and the Elks Lodge. In addition she volunteered for the Wayfarer Center and was a member of the United Methodist Church for 31 years.
Survivors include Mrs. Walker's cousins, Terry Mixer and his wife Sharon, Kenda Mixer Dunlap and Christopher James Dunlap. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Richard "Dick" Walker and her parents, Richard and Maude (Mixer) Underwood.
