McKenzie “Mac” Andrew Young
McKenzie “Mac” Andrew Young died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at age 57.
Born May 30, 1944, in Richmond, Mr. Young was the son of Frank and Jesse Violet Young. According to his family members, "he was an avid outdoorsman and conservationist who passed that passion on to his children and grandchildren. His greatest joys in life were his grandchildren's sporting events, where he often claimed a front row seat. He instilled the love of sports, hunting, and fishing in everyone he met."
Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Brooke Bourland-Young; daughter, Heather Vermazen and husband Rusty; son, Rodger Young and wife Jennifer; and grandchildren, Andrew and Seth Young, and Sarah Rose, and Grace Vermazen, all of Woodland.
He is also survived by his mother, Elizabeth Bourland; former wife, Janet Young of Arbuckle; stepchildren, Shali Baldwin of New Jersey and Chris Baldwin of Chicago; sisters, Valerie Voorhies and Tracy Burkdoll of Clyde; brother, Doug Young of Santa Cruz and their families also survived him.
A memorial service is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at Woodland Elks Lodge, 500 Bush St., Woodland.
The family requests memorials be directed to The Woodland Public Library Large Print Division; Woodland Little League; or Ducks Unlimited, Greenwing Foundation.

Rose Marie Young
Rose Marie Young died at Mercy Hospital, Folsom Thursday, May 22, 2003, at age 67.
Born Feb. 7, 1936, in Los Angeles, Mrs. Young had been a Yolo County resident for 20 years. She attended schools in Valley Center and Escondido. She worked as seamstress.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Robert A. Young of Rescue; daughters, Patricia Turner and husband Tony of Placerville, and Tammy Rademaker and fiancé Nick Koski of Woodland; brother, John Billigmeier of San Francisco; sisters, Gloria Henry and husband Glenn of San Diego, Lilly Scott of Temecula, and Sarah Hickenbottom and husband Jim of Oceanside; grandchildren, Brandy Taylor and husband Steve, Bambi Turner and fiancé Frank Faria, Dustin Turner and wife Samantha, Kimberly Johnson, John Thiers, Mark Thiers, Melissa Ragan and fiancé Edgar Cuevas, Kenny Ragan Jr., Jeanette Engwer, Brandon Magnes, Sage Rademaker, and Tanner Rademaker; great-grandchildren, Jason Taylor, Jacob Taylor, Makayla Ragan, Ashley Johnson and Myrissa Rose Turner; father and mother-in-law, George and Ruth Young of Rochester, N.H.; brother-in-law, John Young and wife Laura of Rochester; and sister-in-law, Beverly Weber and husband Bob of Hardin, Mont. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Felipa Billigmeier.

Sheila Audrey Young
Sheila Audrey Young died in Sacramento Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at age 77.
Born Feb. 6, 1927, in New Castle/Upon-Tyne, England, Mrs. Young had been a Yolo County resident for 44 years. She was a homemaker and worked as a secretary for 20 years. She was a longtime member of the New Testament Church and Cross Court Athletic Club. She donated blood for over 30 years. She volunteered much of her time serving the community and organizations such as the Yolo County Wayfarer Center, Shelter Workshop, Woodland Food Closet and March of Dimes.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Howard (Ed) Young of Woodland; children, Brenda Young of Grand Haven, Mich., Michael Young of San Jose, Janice Weems of Cottonwood, and Bruce Young of Avenal; sister, Marjorie Zajac; brother, Alan Tobias, both of England; grandchildren, William Long, Debbie Jansen, James Mazzole, Jason Mazzole, Shane Brown, Bobbie Stillson, Jessica Huebner, and Jimmy Stillson; and great-grandchildren, Christina, Steffan, Cheyenne, Brooke, Angelina, Nicholas, Christopher, Adrianna, Kevin, Allison, and Jasmine. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Tobias; and grandson, Christopher Mazzole.

William Earl Young
William Earl Young, a seven-year resident of Yolo County, died on April 24, 2004, in Roseville. He was 86 years old.
Born Dec. 5, 1917, in Kansas, he was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and worked as a sales manager for Lone Star Industries.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Allena Young.
He is survived by his son, Russell Young and his wife Cindy of Escalon; his daughter Joyce Sullivan and her husband Dennis of Pleasant Grove; and his son, Robert Young and his wife Sherry of Sacramento.
He is also survived by five grandchildren, Scott and Jason Sullivan of Pleasant Grove, Leann Young of New York, Clinton Young of Modesto and Ryan Young of Escalon; and two great-grandchildren, Brooke and Megan Sullivan of Pleasant Grove.
A funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at McNary's, 458 College St. in Woodland. Burial will immediately follow at Monument Hill Cemetery, 35036 County Road 22 in Woodland.
SNYDER
J. Herbert Snyder
J. Herbert Snyder died Nov. 18, 2000, at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Sacramento. Born May 5, 1926, in McCloud, he was 74.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served for the duration of World War II. A professor of agricultural economics at UC Davis, he served as director of the Water Resource Center for the University of California. He also was past master of the Athens Masonic Lodge and served on the board of directors of the Creation Millennial Fellowship.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth M. Snyder of Davis; his sons, Craig Snyder of Cedar City, Utah, Neal Snyder of Paso Robles, and Roy Snyder of Portland, Ore.; his sister-in-law, Betty Forsyth of Great Falls, Mont.; two cousins, Don Peaslee of Fresno and Jean Bear of Tillamook, Ore.; and five grandchildren.
A memorial gathering was held Monday. Donations may be made in his memory to the Creation Millennial Fellowship; call 747-6068 for details. Donations also may be made to Shriners Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.
SNYDER
Keith D. Snyder
Keith D. Snyder died May 29, 2004, in Omaha, Neb. He was 94.
Born in Lincoln, Neb., the son of a Methodist minister, he attended Nebraska Wesleyan University for his undergraduate studies, and then Newbury College (associated with the Lutheran Church), where he met his wife, Evelyn.
He went on to study for his master's degree at Syracuse University, which he received in 1937. He then taught music at Boston University until he decided to study for his doctorate in public school music education at Columbia University, which he received in 1953.
He then helped to establish the music department at Cal State Los Angeles (then called Cal State College), where he worked from 1954 until his retirement in 1976. He and his wife then retired to Bear Valley Springs near Tehachapi.
In the late 1980s, the Snyders moved to Alvarado Avenue in Davis, and then in 1995 to Covell Gardens. While they lived in Davis, they were very active in the Lutheran Church of the Incarnation, with Snyder taking part in the selection of the Rev. Bill Wong. He contributed to the church until his passing.
In March 2001, he moved to Boise, Idaho, to be closer to family, relocating to Nebraska for the same reason in November 2002.
According to his son Keith, Snyder "always said a part of him was in Davis."
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, his sons Keith and Ben Snyder, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
