PRECIADO

Yazmin Alejandrina Preciado

Yazmin Alejandrina Preciado died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Butte County at age 19.

Miss Preciado was born Sept. 27, 1985 in Autlain, Jalisco, Mexico to Josefina Cisneros and Jesus Preciado. She had been a resident of Yolo County for 15 years. She graduated from Woodland High School in 2004 and was manager of the Kentucky Fried Chicken in Woodland.

Survivors include Miss Preciado's son, Javier Jesus Sereno; her parents, Josefina Cisneros and Jesus Preciado all of Woodland; her stepfather, Rafael Galindo of Woodland; her sisters, Wendy Preciado, Araceli and Nayely Galindo, all of Woodland; her brother, Saul Preciado of San Francisco; her grandmother, Justa Preciado Cobian of Mexico; her aunts, Guadalupe Flores and Antonia Cisneros of Los Angeles, Margarita Cisneros of Mexico and Candelaria Cisneros of Chico; her uncles, Ramon, David, Miguel Cisneros of Woodland, Rafael and Melecio Cisneros of Chico and Pedro and Guillermo Cisneros of Mexico and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lydia Michelle, her grandfathers, Santos Preciado and Miguel Cisneros and her uncle, Guadalupe Cisneros.

Services: A vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22 at Holy Rosary with interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Woodland. Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.

PREISLER

James Edward Preisler

Davis resident James Edward Preisler died on April 28, 2003, in Sacramento. He was 41.

The son of Dawn and John Preisler, he was born Sept. 26, 1961, in Highland Park, Ill. He grew up in the Chicago area, moving to Davis in 1999.

A part-time landscaper, Preisler also volunteered at the UC Davis Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital. He devoutly cared for his family and had a great love for animals, gardening and the outdoors.

Overcoming obstacles, he lived his life with independence, dignity and respect, said his family, which expressed its gratitude for the care and concern he received through Yolo County Department of Mental Health Services.

Preisler is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, brother Don, sister-in-law Lisa Tell, and nephews Alexander and Nicholas, all of Davis, sister Gail Slaughter, brother-in-law Bob Slaughter, niece Flaminga and nephew Django, all of Austin, Texas.

Preisler was laid to rest in Libertyville, Ill. A memorial service celebrating his life will begin at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday at the Episcopal Church of St. Martin, 640 Hawthorn Lane, Davis.

Remembrances may be made to Safe Harbor Crisis House or East Yolo House, care of Yolo Community Care Continuum, 1950 Fifth St. Davis, CA 95616.

PREWETT

Jean Houston Prewett

Jean Houston Prewett, a resident of Davis for more than 60 years, died peacefully Jan. 4, 2006, following a long illness.

A celebration of her life will run from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Little Prague, 330 G St. in Davis.

Born Oct. 6, 1918, in Hollister, she first came to Davis in 1939 to attend the university, majoring in home economics. When the school closed down during World War II, she remained in Davis for most of the war and worked with Phil Cushing, Dr. Leach and Dr. Kendrick in the plant pathology greenhouses. While she was working there she met Byron Houston.

He was a professor in plant pathology and later dean of the graduate division. They were marriage in 1948 and initially lived at the Armstrong Ranch on the university campus. In 1952 they moved into a new home just off Miller Drive, about three blocks from campus. At that time this was the far north end of Davis. There she raised three children.

During that time, she was active in various university organizations, such as University Farm Circle and the campus nursery school. She especially enjoyed working with foreign student wives, helping them learn American customs, conversation and cooking skills.

Her husband, Byron, died in 1970.

She later met an old school friend from Hollister, Wilson Prewett, at a school reunion. They were marriage in 1978 and soon moved to King City to start a new chapter of her life. Following his death, she returned to Davis in 1983 where she lived for the remainder of her life.

Her family said she enjoyed gardening and often used a vacant lot for a giant vegetable garden. Two of her favorite pleasures were spending time at her summer cabin at Fallen Leaf Lake and her annual Easter vacation at Capitola, near Santa Cruz. Both were nearly 50-year traditions.

She is survived by her children, Curtis Houston and his wife Dyann of Davis; Mark Houston of Renton, Wash.; and Marcia Houston of Davis.

She is further survived by her two grandchildren, Nicolas Houston and Keelia Houston of Davis.

PRICE

Dorothy L. Price

Dorothy L. Price died following a short illness in The Californian Retirement Residence, Woodland Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at age 91.

Born June 24, 1922, in Marshall, Mo., Mrs. Price had lived in Woodland for 12 years. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Goldie Evans. After completing her schooling in Missouri, she marriage LaMar Price and they made their home in New Mexico for many years. She lived in Los Angeles during World War II when LaMar served as a naval officer overseas. According to her family members, "she was very proud of her work of more than 40 years as a legal secretary and working with JAG before retiring at Ford Ord. Her favorite pastime was knitting, making many of her own clothes."

Mrs. Price is survived by her son, Charles Price and wife Barbara of Citrus Heights; and daughters, Patricia Harrison and husband John of Woodland, and Debra Johnson and husband Chuck of Grass Valley.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Price and Penny Brown of Sacramento, Gary Smith and wife Jayne of Albuquerque, N.M., Roni Gaede of Paso Robles, Ken Gallagher and wife Theresa of Forresthill, Roy Gallagher and wife Debbie of Woodland, Gene Secco and wife Sandy of McMinnville, Ore., Lee Ann Goodwin and husband Dan of Rocklin, James Harrison of San Luis Obispo, Eric Harrison and wife Kathy of Sherman Oaks, Joseph Johnson and Kelly Lopez and husband Joaquin, all of Grass Valley, John Wilson of Auburn and Kim Meade and husband Paul of Sammamish, Wash.; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, LaMar Price, in 1998.

Respecting the wishes of Mrs. Price no funeral services are scheduled.

A private memorial service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, in Sacramento, with family members only.

The family requests memorials be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95616.

PRICE

Truman Robert Eugene Price

Truman Robert Eugene Price died on Monday, March 4, 2002 at U.C. Davis Medical Center at the age of 88. He was born in Concordia, Kansas on Nov. 11, 1913 to the late Robert Henry and Alice Diana Price.

Mr. Price was a Yolo County resident for 20 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941 to 1944. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.). Mr. Price was employed at Mare Island for 20 years as a pipefitter.

Mr. Price is survived by his children, William Price of Vacaville; Jerry Price of Orland; Walter Price of Santa Rosa and Trudi Tucker of Folsom. Also surviving him are 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Marie Price in 1998.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 8, 2002 at 2 p.m. at McNary's Chapel with interment to follow at Monument Hill Memorial Park.

McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

PRIDE

Raymond Eugene Pride

Raymond Eugene Pride died at Cottonwood Health Care Facility, Woodland on Monday, March 31, 2003, at age 68.

Born April 27, 1934, in Staples, Minn., Mr. Pride had been a Yolo County resident for five years. He was a truck driver.

Arrangements are under the direction of North Sacramento Funeral Home.

Services: Interment is scheduled at the Public Guardian memorial in Woodland Cemetery.

PRINGLE

Frances Rutan Pringle

Frances Rutan Pringle, a former registered nurse, writer, poet, and writing teacher, died on July 14, 2005 at the age of 90, in Sacramento. Born Sara Frances Rutan, seventh generation pioneer California family, was an aunt to Burt Rutan, the aeronautics and space pioneer.

Mrs. Pringle was born in Coalinga. Due to the Great Depression, her family moved to Whittier where she went to high school and rode on the same school bus as Richard Nixon. In 1938 she graduated from Loma Linda University in Redlands as a registered nurse. She worked for several years at what is now the Fresno Medical Center. She also worked for the East Bay Children's Hospital in Oakland. While working there, she met and marriage her first husband, Hugo Hoy, in 1941. They had four children and raised them in four different parks of the California State Parks, where her husband was a state park ranger.

After they divorced in 1964, Mrs. Pringle worked as a nurse at Gorgas Hospital, in the Canal Zone, Republic of Panama. In 1972 she marriage her second husband, Rupert Pringle, a Panamanian journalist at the Panamerica newspaper in the Republic of Panama. Frances and Rupert Pringle were members of the Baha'i World Faith, and supported the construction of the Baha'i House of Worship in Panama. In 1975, they both retired to Las Tablas, a small town in the rural provinces of Panama.

In 1983 they moved to Clovis, near Fresno. They later moved to Whittier and then to Woodland in 1984 where Mr. Pringle died in 1985.

Survivors include four children: Susan Shores of Sacramento, Gerald Hoy of Forestville, Michael Hoy of San Clemente, and Kathryn Rutan-Sprague of Gerber. She is survived by her three brothers: George Rutan of Mojave, Samuel Rutan of Porterville, and Kenneth Rutan of Grass Valley. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, three great grand children and many cousins and dear friends.
