John Hubert Bain
John H. Bain died in Arbuckle on Monday, Aug. 23, 2004 at age 72.
Mr. Bain was born April 14, 1932 in Hope, NM to the late Ad and Ruth Chambers Bain. He had been a Yolo County resident for 14 years. He had worked as a construction supervisor in the Bay Area for 30 years and was a member of Carpenter's Local No. 22, San Francisco for 52 years. He was also a member of the Full Gospel Faith Assembly of Colusa.
Survivors include Mr. Bain's wife, Laura Barnes Bain of Arbuckle, sons Marshall Bain and his wife Gretchen of Castro Valley, Clifton Bain and his wife Liane of Redwood City, and Marvin Mason of Roseville; daughter Dawn Riazzi and her husband Steve of Antelope and step-children Diana, Gary, Lois, Bruce and Steven. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his daughter Pamela LoFranco and brothers James "Pete" Bain, Val Bailey and Wayne Bailey.
The family requests memorials in memory of Mr. Bain be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617.
Services: Viewing and visitation is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27. and the funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland. Interment will follow immediately after at Arbuckle Cemetery. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
BAIN
Nancy Jean Johnson Bain
Nancy Jean Johnson Bain died in Sacramento following a brief illness due to breast cancer Thursday, March 28, 2002, at age 46.
Born Aug. 30, 1955, in Sacramento, Mrs. Bain grew up in Davis and graduated from Davis High School in 1973. She helped her father and mother ranch in Rumsey, and graduated with her masters of science in mathematics from Sacramento State before marrying Roland in 1980. She taught through the Los Rios Unified School District for 23 years as a math instructor at Sacramento City College. According to her family members, "she loved playing golf with her friends at Yolo Fliers Country Club and was a proud Natomas Rampage Soccer Enthusiast. Traveling and gardening were her hobbies and watching the sunset over the Sacramento River was her way of relaxing."
Mrs. Bain is survived by her husband, Roland Bain; children, Ed and Scott Bain; parents, Lorraine and Jim Johnson; sister, Joan and her family Bob Achermann, Jim and Katie; sister-in-law, Yvette and her family Charlie Shubert, and Alan.
She is also survived by her stepchildren, Larry Bain, Sheri, Nichole and Marianne, Jim Bain, James, Andrew and Alana, Julie Bain Christensen, Dana, and DJ, Bill Bain, and John, Linda and Jenny Bain.
A private mass of Christian burial was conducted Monday, April 1 at Calvary Cemetery, with Father James T. Murphy officiated.
A memorial service is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at Dante Club, 2330 Fair Oaks Blvd., Sacramento.
The family requests memorials be directed to Natomas Charter School's Bain Memorial; or to Sacramento's Sutter Cancer Center.

BAIR
JoAnne Alberta Bair
JoAnne Alberta Bair died at Woodland Memorial Hospital on Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at age 55.
Born Oct. 14, 1948, in San Bernardino, Mrs. Bair had been a Yolo County resident for 35 years, where she attended area schools, and was a graduate of Woodland High School. She attended cosmetology school in Sacramento, and was the manager of the Orangevale Plaza Townhouses for 10 years.
Survivors include her husband, Leo J. Bair of Woodland; daughters, Jennifer Bair, also of Woodland, and Stacey Richardson, Tracy Chambers, and Casey Jones, all of Sacramento; sons, Pete Bair and Donny Parsons, both of Woodland, and Tommy Parsons of Davis; sisters, Mickey Bryant of Canoga Park, and Patty Redmond of Woodland; brothers, Jim Michaels of Northridge, and Pat Michaels of Woodland; brother and sister--in-laws, Jake and Helen Bair, Everett and Mary Bair, Vernon and Midge Weird, all of Woodland, Lois Bair of Esparto, Tommy and Karen Bair of Portland, Ore., Robert and Shirley Bair of Corning; stepfather, Tomio Wakida of Woodland; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Michaels in 1996.
Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen of Woodland.
Services: Service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at West Valley Baptist Church, 18045 Co. Rd. 95 in Woodland.
BAIR
Sanders P. Bair
Sanders P. Bair, 81, a cemetery worker in the Capay and Cottonwood cemeteries for the past 12 years, died at 4 a.m. yesterday in the Weimar sanitarium, where he had been a patient for four days.
Mr. Bair, who resided at 204 Madison Street in Esparto, had lived in Yolo County since 1935. He was born in Michigan June 21, 1879.
Survivors include his wife Alma; six daughters, Mrs. Grace Smith of Skiatook, Okla., Mrs. Opal Bertram of Esparto, Mrs. Fern Metzger of Capay, Mrs. Neva Lantz of Esparto, Mrs. Florence Irvine of Menomonie, Wisc., and Mrs. Elsie Henson of Capay; two sons, Alvin Bair of Esparto and Irvin Bair of Madison.
Also surviving are five stepchildren: Walter Pruitt of Esparto, Albert Brizendine of Richmond, Glen Middling of Vallejo, Dorothy McCraken of Antioch and Eva Behrmann of Michigan, as well as 26 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Pentecostal church in Madison, with interment following in Cottonwood cemetery in Madison under the direction of Kraft Brothers funeral home. The family requests that any donations be made to the heart fund or the Tuberculosis association.

BAIRD
Aloise "Tuffy" Stephens Baird
Aloise "Tuffy" Stephens Baird died in Carmichael Monday, April 28, 2003, at age 86.
Born April 23, 1917 in Woodland, Ca., Mrs. Baird was one of five children born to Lawrence H. and Bertie A. Stephens. She resided in Carmichael for the past 36 years. She was a native of California and attended the Holy Rosary Academy in Woodland, and UC Berkeley where she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She was an harpist. She was a member of the Carmichael Geranium Club.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Baird West; son, William Forrest Baird III; granddaughter Annalise Baird; sisters, Bertie Bruce, Antoinette Peckham and Susie Bradbury; sister-in-law, Bernice Best; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Forrest Baird Jr.; and brother, Lawrence A. Stephens.
The family requests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.
Services: A mass and celebration is scheduled at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 5057 Cottage Way in Carmichael. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Woodland Cemetery, 800 West St., Woodland.
BAKER
Alvin James Baker
Alvin James Baker passed away on May 27, 2001, in Winters. Born April 3, 1918, in Santa Clara, he was 83 years old.
A graduate of Santa Cruz High School in 1936, he was a World War II Vet. He joined the Army on May 21, 1941 staying until Oct. 8, 1945. He was a radio dispatcher for the Highway Patrol for 25 years. He was Past Master of the Northern Light Masonic Lodge in 1968 and 1970 and also of the Landmark Buckeye Lodge in 1978.
Mr. Baker was a member of the Scottish Rite Temple of Sacramento, past president of Cascade Scottish Rite Temple of Redding, member of Ben Ali Shrine of Sacramento, Yolo Shrine Club of Woodland, 1978. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, (VFW), Winters since 1991.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marion D. Baker. Also he is survived by his son Rod Baker and wife, Connie of Winters; brother William H. Baker and wife Virginia, of San Francisco.
Friends are invited to a time of visitation on Thursday, May 31 at 10 a.m., with the funeral to follow at Smith's Colonial Chapel, 14 Main Street, Winters.
Interment will follow at Winters Cemetery with Military Honors of the Winters VFW. Donations may be made in his name to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mr. Frederick "Dutch" T. Baker died at David Grant USAF Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base on March 24, 1990. Mr. Baker was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, February 2, 1922. He was 68 years old.
