Elizabeth (Betty) Alleyne Witham
Elizabeth (Betty) Alleyne Witham died at Stollwood Convalescent Hospital Saturday, May 17, 2003, at age 88.
Born Aug. 13, 1914, a native of Woodland, Mrs. Witham had been a lifelong resident of Yolo County. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Woodland.
Survivors include her children, Mary Ellen Hermle of Woodland, Richard Witham of Elk Grove, Linda Morrison of Pollock Pines, Elizabeth Gordon of Burney; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Mearl and Raymon Gallup. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.J. Witham; and son, Ed Witham Sr.
The family requests memorials be directed to Woodland Christian School. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.
Services: A funeral service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St. with a burial to (The rest of this obituary is missing.)
WITHAM
Patricia Louise Swallum Witham
Patricia Louise Swallum Witham died at Northside Hospital in Macon, Ga. Saturday, July 9, 2005 at age 83.
Mrs. Witham was born Dec. 15, 1921 in Oilton, Okla. to Emmons Blaine and Marjorie Maritz Swallum. She graduated from Miller High School in Macon, Ga. and attended Mercer University. She was a homemaker and a member of Greenwich Baptist Church in Greenwich, Conn. for almost 40 years.
Survivors include Mrs. Witham's husband of 63 years, Bert Witham, a former Woodland resident; her daughters, Jana Janeway and her husband Whitney of Wilton, Conn., Brenda McGinn and her husband Michael of Atlanta, Marsha Whitman and her husband Frank of Norwalk, Conn., and Tricia Davis and her husband Mark of Thousand Oaks; 10 grandchildren; her sister, Betty Whittle Sheehan and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandchild, Hannah Witham Davis.
Services: A funeral was held July 12 in Macon, Ga. She was interred near her parents at Macon Memorial Park. Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery assisted the family with arrangements.
WITHROW
Albert Lee Withrow
Albert Lee Withrow died at his Woodland home on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at the age of 51. He was born in Marietta, Ohio, on Oct. 6, 1950, and had been a resident of Yolo County for the past 28 years.
Mr. Withrow had worked for Cal-West Seeds as a warehouseman and had previously served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970, stationed in Fort Lewis, Wash. He had also served in the Korea, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Withrow was considered by his family to be an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers. He also enjoyed playing golf, softball, bingo and other card games.
Mr. Withrow is survived by his wife of 11 years, Alice A. Withrow and his sons, Tim Withrow and wife Stephanie of Moultrie, Ga., Paul Withrow and his wife Natalie of Woodland, Justin Purtzer of Woodland; and daughter, Traci Adkins of Vacaville. He is also survived by his mother, Bernice Withrow; sisters, Linda Hood of Carson, Patricia Elkins of Sacramento; and brother, Tom Withrow of Woodland.
Other survivors include brothers- and sisters-in-law, Tom and Linda Haynes of Woodland, Trevor White of Woodland and Jeff and Lydia White of Chico, Mike and Marcia Thomas, Hoss and Sandy Littlefield, Larry and Kathy Curtis and Peggy Aguilar of Woodland, Tim and Alice Hopkins of Lomita, and Andy and Carol Strickland of Moultrie, Ga., Matt and Judy Maahs of Moultrie. Other survivors include six grandchildren, Klarissa Polendo, Chance Adkins, Ashley, Joseph, Jalen and Elijah Withrow as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Withrow was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Withrow and a sister, Karen Withrow.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 5, at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland, with military honors to be presented. Chaplain Walt Wilson will be officiating. Private Interment will follow at a later date.

TWILLEY
Charles Edgar "Ed" Twilley
Charles Edgar "Ed" Twilley died at Woodland Memorial Hospital Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005 at age 49.
Mr. Twilley was born in Arizona Oct. 5, 1955 to Charles and Joyce (Pellet) Twilley. He had been a Yolo County resident for eight years. He was employed in transportation, working for Syar Industries as a truck driver for 30 years. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 490.
Survivors include Mr. Twilley's wife of 30 years, Donna Twilley of Esparto; his daughters, Michelle Saxton and Jennifer Phillips of Woodland; his grandchildren, James and Mackenzie Phillips of Warner Robins, Ga.; his father, Charles Twilley of Vacaville; his sister, Diane Twilley of Vacaville; his brothers, Bill Twilley of Salt Lake City, Jimmy Twilley of Oregon and Jay Twilley of Vacaville. Preceding him in death was his mother, Joyce Twilley.
Services: A celebration of Mr. Twilley's life is scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2 at the Boy Scout Cabin, 17121 Yolo Ave., Esparto. Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
TWISS
Helen P. Twiss
Helen P. Twiss, sister of Robert J. and sister-in-law of Helen W.S. Twiss of Davis, died on March 27, 2003, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on Sept. 14, 1940, she was 62 years old.
She was a newcomer to Davis, having recently moved from Baltimore, Md., where she was grew up.
With bachelor's and master's degree in French literature, she taught French in several private schools around the Boston area well as in Baltimore. Her later career was devoted to tutoring dyslexic children.
Warm, gentle and generous, she will be missed by her family and many friends.
LANTZ
Barbara J. Lantz
Barbara Jean Lantz died Dec. 26, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield. Born Nov. 26, 1959, in Sacramento, she was 41.
She graduated from Davis High School, attended Sacramento City College, and joined the California Conservation Corps. After several moves, she settled in Bishop, where she worked for the U.S. Forest Service.
She was an accomplished trumpet player and won several awards in the Golden Empire competitions in Northern California. She also loved cats and all living things.
Diagnosed with diabetes at age 2, she eventually took disability retirement, but had a strong faith in God that someday she would be cured. Since she was born on Thanksgiving Day, and having been wished for by her loving parents, she knew she was in this world for a special purpose, perhaps to show others that she could be cheerful despite her suffering, her family members said.
She is survived by her parents, Fayne and Lillian Lantz; sisters, Marjorie Vendrasco of Bakersfield and Marilyn Maple of British Columbia, Canada; and brother, Keith Lantz of Texarkana, Ark. She is also survived by four nieces and nephews and six grand-nieces and -nephews.
A memorial service is pending. Donations in her memory may be made to Transplant Patient Research, UC Davis, 2221 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817.

MADIGAN
Hylda N. Madigan
Hylda N. Madigan died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at age 95.
Mrs. Madigan was born Aug. 26, 1909 in Pawtucket, R.I. She had been a Yolo County resident for 14 years. After high school she pursued a career in song writing and won a contract with the American Music Corp. of America. She studied Christian Science philosophy while in New York City under Mary Baker Eddy.
Survivors include Mrs. Madigan's daughter, Candy Tyner of San Jose; her son, John Madigan of Woodland and her grandchildren, Shara and Kenny Madigan of Woodland. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. "Jack" Madigan.
