Byron "Barney" James McAllister
Byron "Barney" James McAllister died at Woodland Memorial Hospital Friday, April 20, 2001. He was 78.
Born Feb. 20, 1923 in Treece, Kansas, McAllister was a resident of Yolo County for 37 years. He served in Europe for the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a truck driver for 32 years working for Teichert Construction Co. and belonged to Teamsters Local No. 150. He was a member and past captain of the Spartin Motorcycle Club and a member of VFW Post 1985 in Woodland.
McAllister is survived by his wife, Joyce McAllister of Woodland; sons Michael J. McAllister and wife Glenda of Brownsville, Calif., Raymond McAllister of Esparto, and Jim Walker and wife Cindy of Woodland; daughters Patricia Spiva and husband Bruce of Sparts, Nev.; and Katherine F. McAllister of Rancho Cordova; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St. Woodland with The Rev. John Sublett officiating.
The family would prefer memorials be in the form of donations to the American Diabetes Association.
McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
McANELLY
Irene McAnelly
Irene McAnelly died in Woodland Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005 at age 82.
Mrs. McAnelly was born Oct. 23, 1922 in Van Buren, Ark. She had been a Yolo County resident for 60 years. She worked as a lab technician at Spreckles Sugar for 20 years.
Survivors include Mrs. McAnelly's husband of 62 years, James Harvey McAnelly, also of Woodland; her daughters, Shirley Johnson, Debbie McCoy, Karen Sue Hays, all of Woodland and Diana Loader of Redding; her son, Steve McAnelly of Sacramento; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Dorthy Mae Mann of Oregon and Florene Williams of Modesto and her brothers, John Thomas Sallee of California and Willie Fred Sallee of Oregon. She was preceded in death by her son, James McAnelly Jr. and her parents, John Thomas and Ethel Sallee.
The family requests memorial donations in Mrs. McAnelly's name be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
Services: A celebration of Mrs. McAnelly's life is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 at Woodland United Fellowship Church, 240 North West St., Woodland. Cremains will be returned to the family. North Sacramento Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
McANELLY
James Harvey McAnelly
James Harvey McAnelly died in Woodland Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at age 84.
Mr. McAnelly was born Feb. 19, 1921 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Ark. He had been a Yolo County resident for 60 years. He served during World War II in the U.S. Army as a airframe and power plant mechanic. For his service, he received the World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American and Asian Pacific Theater ribbons and a Bronze Service Star. After the war, he worked as a laborer at Spreckels Sugar for 35 years.
Survivors include Mr. McAnelly's daughters, Shirley Johnson, Debbie McCoy, Sue Hays, all of Woodland and Diana Loader of Redding; his son, Steve McAnelly of Sacramento; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Irene McAnelly; his son, James McAnelly Jr.; his parents, George and Edna McAnelly; his sister, Vaunda McAnelly and his brothers, Raymond and E.G. McAnelly.
The family requests memorials in Mr. McAnelly's name be directed to The Alzheimer's Aid Society, P.O. Box 1824, Sacramento, 95812.
Services: A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, May 27 at Monument Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Charles Hobson officiating. McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
McANLIS
William Lewis McAnlis
William Lewis McAnlis died at Bahia Kino, Sonora, Mexico on Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at age 83.
Born Feb. 18, 1920, in Colorado Springs, Colo., Mr. McAnlis had been a Yolo County resident for 20 years. He was a member of Woodland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his children, William Lewis McAnlis II and wife Carolyn of Kirkland, Wash., Judith Marie Griffith and husband Gerald of North Augusta, Ga., and Joanie Culver and husband Bob of Hillsboro, Ore.; grandson, William Kirk McAnlis, also of Kirkland, Wash.; granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Karmolinski and husband Jim of Yacolt, Wash.; seven other grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Services: Services were held in Bahia Kino, Sonora, Mexico.
McBRIDE
Jean Sikes McBride
Jean Sikes McBride, sister of Winters resident Dorothy Davis and a long time Citrus Heights resident, died in Yuba City, Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002 at the age of 85. She was a fourth generation California and twelfth generation American with ancestors in the Jamestown, Virginia settlement in 1607 and on the Mayflower in 1620.
She was born on a farm established by her grandfather in the Tremont District of Solano County. She graduated from the San Jose Normal School (now San Jose State University), in 1937 and taught school in Kelseyville and Lincoln before marrying Thomas (Sandy) McBride and moving to Antelope.
She continued teaching in the Citrus Heights schools for several more years, before retiring to continue her service to children as a leader in PTA, Cub Scouts, 4-H, as well as serving as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent at the First Presbyterian Church in Roseville. She and Sandy were also long-time sponsors of the church Mariners Club for couples. In addition, she was a member of the Antelope Sewing Club for 58 years.
Mrs. McBride is survived by her sons Donald Thomas McBride of New Jersey and Dale Gene McBride of Yuba City; grandchildren Sean Thomas McBride of Incline, Nevada, Kathryn Suzanne McBride of Davis and Thomas Jonathan McBride of Boston, Massachusetts. Among other extended family she leaves her nephew, Dr. Bill Davis of Winters.
A memorial service was held Saturday, February 9 at the First Presbyterian Church in Roseville, proceeded by a private burial.

McBRIDE
Katherine McBride
Katherine McBride of Grass Valley died on Feb. 17, 2000, at her home. Born on July 19, 1925, in Los Angeles, she was 74.
She was a Nevada County resident for 10 years. She moved from Los Angeles to Tahoe City in 1954, where she started the Tahoe Tree Company Nursery. In 1974, she moved to Davis and attended UC Davis. Following graduation, she worked for the University of California system. In Nevada, she worked for the county.
She loved music, art, painting, bridge and people. She was a member of the California Native Plant Society and served on the first design review committee in Tahoe City. She loved to volunteer at California Native Plant Society plant sales.
She is survived by her three daughters, Karen McBride-Aguirre and Leslie Hyche of Tahoe City and Dianne Anderson of Seattle, Wash.; her son, Michael McBride of Tahoe City; two sisters, Dorothy Marking and Ruth Corgan; and five grandchildren.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Canice Catholic Church in Nevada City. She will be buried
at the Trail's End Cemetery in Tahoe City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the California Native Plant Society in care of The Chapel of the Angels, 250 Race St., Grass Valley, CA 95945.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Chapel of Angels.
McBURNEY
Remedios McBurney
Remedios "Remy" McBurney died April 8, 2001, while at Sutter Davis Hospital. Born in the Philippines on Feb. 11, 1917, to Angel and Felisa Limjoco, she was 84.
She was one of six children. She moved to the United States in June of 1951. She attended the University of Michigan, where she graduated with a master's degree in English. She then moved to Manhattan, N.Y., where she began her career as an editor for McGraw-Hill Publishing Company. She remained employed there for the next 20 years until her retirement. In March 2000, she moved to Davis to be close to her sister and extended family for what was to be the remaining year of her life.
She was well known by family and friends for her skills in the culinary arts. She loved to prepare fine foods and was an accomplished cook. She loved to read, listen to music and write short stories. She was in the process of preparing a cookbook to be published, but was unable to complete it.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Angel Limjoco, and her sisters, Cara Robbins and Aida Forster.
She is survived by her sister, Yolanda Millington of Davis; and brothers Ben and Nick Limjoco of the Philippines; her nephews, agateRichard Millington of East Palo Alto, Stephen Millington of Sacramento, James Millington of Folsom, David Millington of Hawaii and Alex Limjoco of the Philippines; nieces, June Millington of Bodega; Jean Madelonia of Davis and Sylvia Lyons of New Hampshire.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday at Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D St. Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.
