Lawrence J. McCabe
Larry McCabe, a former longtime Davis resident, died at his Denver home on Nov. 2, 2004. He was 79.
A memorial mass will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church, 27th and K streets in Sacramento. Interment with military honors will follow at noon at the Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road.
Born in Newport, Ky., on Aug. 9, 1925, at 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and fought in the Pacific during World War II. After his service in the Navy, he joined the U.S. Army, commissioned as a lieutenant and later as a captain. Following his service in the military, he was a high school teacher for several years. He then joined the federal civil service and traveled the world with his family until he retired in 1980.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice McCabe.
He is survived by his two children, Lawrence J. McCabe Jr. and his wife Susan of Sacramento, and Cynthia Jean McCabe and her husband Mark Pitchford of Denver; and two grandchildren, Nicole and Michael McCabe.

McCALISTER
Booker McCalister
Booker McCalister died of natural causes at Woodland Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at the age of 90.
Born Feb. 12, 1912 in Tom, Okla., to the late Daniel Richard McCalister and Dora (Owens) McCalister, Mr. McCalister was marriage to the late Erie (Gilbert) McCalister who died in 1970.
Mr. McCalister is survived by four children, Gussie Constant, of Woodland, Barbara Hughey, of Penryn, Bonnie Bacon, of West Sacramento, and his son, Leroy McCalister of Knights Landing. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Mr. McCalister was well known throughout the Knights Landing community. Many years ago he was active in the community as a local merchant. Family members stated Mr. McCalister was happiest with a fishing pole in hand. Recently, Mr. McCalister had served 50 years in the Masonic Lodge.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, May 3, 2002, at the Knights Landing Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, family members request donations be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or the charity of donor's choice.

McCASKILL
B. June McCaskill
B. June McCaskill: A celebration of the life of B. June McCaskill will take place Saturday, July 7, at 10 a.m. at the Arboretum gazebo at UC Davis. She was the curator of the J.M. Tucker Herbarium at UCD for nearly 40 years, was known as the "weed lady, " and helped thousands of people with plant identifications during her career.
She died on May 9, 2001.
The Arboretum gazebo is located along Garrod Drive, off of La Rue Road, near the UCD Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital. Parking is available along Garrod Drive, opposite the gazebo or in visitors parking lot 50 near the teaching hospital.

McCLINTON
Donald Lamar McClinton
Donald Lamar McClinton died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003 at his home of colon cancer. Mr. McClinton was born in Birmingham, Ala., on March 17, 1942. He was 60 years old.
He is survived by his wife Kathy McClinton and children Cindy Martinez, her husband Anthony, and their children Danielle and Nicolas, his daughter Elizabeth Thompson, her husband Mike and their children, Gabrielle, Nathaniel and Julia, his son Michael and his children Tricia and Mikey, and his daughter Michelle Hale, and her children Coy and Amanda, and by his children's mother, Marlin Brown. He is also survived by his father Chet Williams, and his sister Judy Dickey and her husband Dave.
He was preceded in death by his mother Fay Meril Williams.
Services: A celebration of Mr. McClinton's life is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Warehouse Christian Ministries, 9933 Business Park Drive, Rancho Cordova at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that all remembrances be made to the American Cancer Society.
McCLELLAND
George "Andy" Anderson Hugh McClelland
George "Andy" Anderson Hugh McClelland died peacefully at home Jan. 13, 2005, after battling prostate cancer. He was 73.
Born May 12, 1931, to Victoria and Hugh McClelland in Bushey, England, he attended public school at Gresham in Norfolk, Cambridge, and the University of London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, where he was awarded his doctoral degree in medical entomology in 1962.
He joined the department of entomology at UC Davis in 1963 as an assistant professor, and advanced through his career to professor of entomology in 1975, until retiring in 1994. In 1969, he was honored by the United Nations to serve in the World Health Organization in Tanzania, Africa, as director of the East Africa Aedes Research Institute.
Prior to his career at UC Davis, he worked as a scientific officer for the East Africa High Commission E.A. Virus Research Institute in Uganda, East Africa, and was a postdoctoral research fellow in the department of biology at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. As a faculty member at UC Davis, he pursued a research program that emphasized population ecology and genetics of mosquitoes.
His research broadly related to the interaction of mosquitoes with their environment and to the disciplines of ecology, ethology and genetics. During reviews of his research, colleagues called his contributions, "innovative, meticulous, scholarly and contemporary." He published more than 80 articles and wrote a book on medical entomology, which was widely used all over the United States.
His colleagues remember his interest and devotion to teaching as an extraordinary contribution to the University of California, and to the many students his courses and innovative teaching touched. He was one of the first people to integrate art, culture and insect natural history into a course for undergraduates. This fusion of art and science was ahead of its time and tremendously successful.
His course Insects and Human Affairs routinely drew enrollments exceeding 200 students. Students frequently praised his organization, course content and his personable, clear teaching style. His colleagues honored his achievements with several nominations for teaching awards. One such nomination said, "Our department views Professor McClelland as the consummate teacher. We feel that he sets the standard by which all courses taught here at Davis should be judged."
He was marriage to Patricia McClelland for 16 years. He later marriage Elizabeth Loebilich. After they divorced, he marriage SueDee McClelland.
In 1994 he and SueDee moved to the small town of Clio, in Plumas County in the Sierra Nevada mountains. There, he created an English garden. He found it a challenge to find plants to bloom from March to November at an altitude of 4, 400 feet. His garden was admired by residents and tourists.
During his retirement, he traveled extensively to the tropics at least once each year. He also took up watercolor painting. His subject matter included scenes in Africa and other places he had traveled. His last five paintings were of his daughter, Alison, his son, Hugh, and his two younger daughters, Alekka and Stassi.
His last painting was of his wife, SueDee, standing in a pastoral English scene, completed the day before he died.
In November of 2003, he and his wife moved to the University Retirement Community in Davis. He spent the year compiling his memoir and completing a detailed genealogy for his family.
His wife said he loved life and lived it to the fullest to the last day.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, SueDee McClelland of Davis, four children and four grandchildren.
At his request, there will be no memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, he requested that donations be sent to Horses Unlimited, P.O. Box 30164, Cromberg, CA 96103. The nonprofit organization provides therapeutic horse riding lessons for handicapped children. He served on the board of directors for this organization from 1997 to 2003.
McCLURE
William Robert "Bob" McClure
William Robert "Bob" McClure died Oct. 6, 2004, at his home in Davis, after a battle with cancer. He was 56.
A celebration of his life will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pole Line Road Baptist Church, 770 Pole Line Road in Davis.
Born Aug. 25, 1948, in Bakersfield, he lived in the Bay Area for most of his life. He met his wife in San Francisco, then moved to Salt Lake City, where he worked for the University of Utah. He became a Davis resident in 1994.
He was an active member of Pole Line Road Baptist Church, where he served as librarian and food closet coordinator, taught Sunday School, served on numerous church committees and coordinated the outreach ministry and bible study for a local convalescent home. He was also a volunteer for Citizens Who Care.
His family says he enjoyed oil painting, classical guitar and harmonica, and was teaching himself to read and write New Testament Greek. He loved his pets, including his cats, dog and birds, especially his beloved conure Bandit.
He is survived by his wife, Rebekah McClure of Davis; daughters, Rachel Langton of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Jeannine Rhein of Beaverton, Ore.; and his mother Betty Jean Dietrich of Yuba City.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Yolo Hospice or to the Pole Line Road Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 770 Pole Line Road, Davis, CA 95616.
McCOY
Evelyn M. (Perry) McCoy
Evelyn M. (Perry) McCoy died at her daughter's Woodland home Sunday, March 27, 2005 at age 71.
Ms. McCoy was born Nov. 12, 1933 in Martinez to the late Louis and Mary (Bettencourt) Pereira. She had been a resident of Yolo County for 70 years, she had attended and graduated from Woodland schools and worked was a laboratory technician at Spreckels Sugar Refinery. She retired in 1998, after working for the company for more than 30 years.
Survivors include Ms. McCoy's children, Elaine Brown and Mike McCoy and wife Cara of Woodland, granddaughters, Shannon Corralejo and her husband Joel of Woodland, Stefanie Brown of Sacramento, Sarah Brown of Woodland, Kelly McCoy and husband Christopher Constancio; her great-granddaughters, Quinn, Rylee and Emma all of Woodland; great-grandsons, Collin and Bryson of Woodland; great-grandsons, Christopher of Woodland, Shane Brown and wife Jenny, son-in-law Ron Brown of Woodland and granddaughter, Terri Garcia of Sacramento; her sisters, Betty Mekus of Defiance, Ohio; Virginia Coffee and her husband Gene of Sacramento; her brothers, George Perry and his wife Marie of Woodland and Ernest Pereira of Sacramento and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family requests memorials in Ms. McCoy's name be directed to Hospice of Yolo County, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617.
Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, April 1 at 1821 Elston Circle, Woodland. Private interment will be for immediate family at a later date. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
