CORONA

Robert B. Cordero, Jr.

Robert B. Cordero Jr. died in Sacramento Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at 51.

Born Oct. 21, 1952, Mr. Cordero was a native of Woodland and a lifelong Yolo County resident. He was an owner-operator truck driver for more than 30 years and a tribal member of the Chumash Tribe of Santa Inez and of Elk Grove's Rock Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Simone Eve Cordero-Cuevas of Yolo; sons, Nathan I. Cordero and wife Katherine of Sacramento, Michael Hernandez and wife Liliana of Woodland, Robert L. Cordero, also of Sacramento, and Daniel E. and David B. Cordero, both also of Woodland; granddaughters, Angela J. and Jasmine E. Montes, and Monique A. Cordero, all of Woodland; grandsons, Rafael R. Montes and Michael A. Hernandez, both also of Woodland, and Zachary J. Burgess, also of Sacramento. Also surviving are his sisters, Rosemary Oltman of Mountain Home, Idaho, and Maria Muniozguren of Woodland; brother, Albert M. Cordero of Woodland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Albert Benjamin Cordero and Daniel Cordero.

The family requests memorial donations be directed to Wayfarer Center-Christian Mission, 201 Fourth St., Woodland, 95695. Arrangements are under the direction of Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland.

Services: Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, with a funeral service at 7 p.m., in Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland. Private interment, for family members only, is scheduled at a later date.

CORONA

Frank Guajardo Corona

Frank Guajardo Corona died in Woodland Wednesday, April 3, 2003, at age 63.

Born Feb. 2, 1940, in Houston, Texas, Mr. Corona had been a Yolo County resident for 38 years. He attended Salinas High School, and was self-employed as the owner of Amigo Tile. He was the former president of Concilio, and did public relations of Los Charros.

Survivors include his wife, Maria (Corrales) Corona; sons, Frank Corona Jr., and Jacob Corona; daughters, Sandra Corona, and Tanya Corona; sisters, Manuela Losoya of Telephone, Texas, Mary Corona of Sacramento, Lupe Corona of Roseville, Rosie Villa of Woodland, Susie Corona and Helen Gonzales, both of Sunnyside, Wash., Lucy Fernandez and Virginia Guerrero, both of Woodland; brothers, Joe Corona of Santa Rosa, Texas, Raymond Corona of Rio Houndo, Texas, Martin Corona of Esparto and Noe Corona of Woodland; grandchildren, Sara Marie Medina, Marina Rose Corona and Hector Corona, all of Woodland; parents, Carmelo and Carmen Corona of Mission, Texas; 26 nephews; and 15 nieces.

The family requests memorials be directed to Maria (Corrales) Corona, 18727 County Road 96, Woodland, 95695. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.

Services: Visitation is scheduled at 7 p.m. Monday, April 7, at McNary's Chapel, Woodland. A funeral service is scheduled at noon Tuesday, April 8, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Woodland, with a burial to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Woodland.

CORONA

Rosa Maria Corona

Rosa Maria Corona died unexpectedly on March 13, 2005, at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. She was 36.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 327 College St. A Mass of Christian burial begins at noon on Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, at the corner of Court and Walnut streets, with interment to follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Woodland.

Born May 14, 1968, in Juchitlan, Jalisco, Mexico, to Jose and Susana (Silva) Gonzalez, she was a Yolo County resident for the past 14 years, and was employed by the Woodland Joint Unified School District for the past six years.

She is survived by her husband, David Corona of Woodland; a daughter, Susana Isabel Corona, and a son Jose Maria Garcia, both of Woodland.

She is further survived by her parents, Jose and Susana Gonzalez of Los Angeles; her brothers, Basilio, Julian and Transito Gonzalez, all of Los Angeles; her sisters, Lucrecia, Lucia and Isabel Gonzalez, of Los Angeles, and Cresencia, Narcisia and Lilian Gonzalez, of Juchitlan, Jalisco, Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice in her name. Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.

CORRAL

Matias Corral

The Lord called home to him, Matias Corral, on Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, after a long illness. Matias was a compassionate man who felt a great sense of responsibility towards his family and everyone in his life; he served as an exemplary role model for others. Matias will be remembered by all as a loving husband, proud father and devoted "Papa" to his beloved grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Isabel Corral of Woodland; his daughters, Leticia Corral of Lincoln and Gloria Leathers and her husband Tim of Woodland; and his two very loved grandchildren, Brandon and Courtney Leathers. Matias is also survived by his sister Maria Corral of Durango, Mexico, and brother Salvador Corral of Sacramento; brothers-in-law, Martin Martinez of Lincoln and Fabian Martinez of Durango, Mexico; sisters-in-law Conception Morga of Durango, Mexico, Lina Corral of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico and Rafaela Ahedo of Durango, Mexico as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Matias was born in Durango, Mexico to Epimenio and Isabel (Alarcon) Corral, and owned a ranch before moving to Woodland. Prior to retirement, Matias worked many years at Contadina Foods.

Family, friends and acquaintances loved Matias and will dearly miss him as he takes his blessed journey home. All are invited to a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5 at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second St. and a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland with Fr. Fernando Meza officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 800 West St., Woodland.

Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.

CORRALES

Beatrice Ortega Corrales

Beatrice Ortega Corrales passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2000, in Sacramento. Born in El Paso, Texas on May 19, 1937, she was 62.

A 39-year resident of Winters, she attended high school in Clint, Texas, and worked for the Mariani Nut Company for 14 years. She loved to work in her garden, care for her pets and was a very good cook.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jose M. Corrales of Winters; children, Jose Alfoso Zuniga and his wife, Martha, of Arbuckle, Steban D. Corrales of Davis, Ronaldo Corrales of Woodland, Grace Corrales and her husband, Michael, of Winters, Raul R. Corrales of Woodland, Pablo O. Corrales of Winters, Raquel O. Corrales and her husband, Ricardo, of Sacramento, and Joe Louie Corrales and his wife, Sherri, of Winters; brothers, Regina L. Ortega of El Paso, Texas, Ruben L. Ortega of Clint, Texas, Santos L. Ortega of El Paso, Texas, and Blas L. Ortega of Clint, Texas; sister, Emma O. Garcia of El Paso, Texas; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are two sisters, Maria L. Ortega and Rosa L. Ortega; two brothers, Jesus L. Ortega and Policarpio L. Ortega Jr.; and parents, Policarpio and Gumercinda Ortega.

Funeral Mass was held on April 14, at 11:30 a.m., at Saint Anthony Catholic Church, in Winters. Her husband and sons were pallbearers. The interment took place in the Winters Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements were under the direction of Smith's Colonial Chapel.

CORREIA

Jimmy Correia

Jimmy Correia died in his Clifton Colorado home on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at age 45.

Born in Willows, Mr. Correia later moved to Woodland where he attended Woodland High School. He was self-employed long haul truck driver who contracted with Warner Trucking out of Colorado.

Survivors include his father, James Correia; stepmother, Judy Correia; stepfather, Ray Madderra; sisters, Tammy Haynie, and Relina Kent and husband Kirt; brothers, Kevin Correia, Craig Correia and his wife Lisa, Tommy Correia and wife Lori, Tony and Robert Madderra, Terry Madderra and wife Terry, and Ray Madderra and wife Erma; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of Montrose Valley Funeral Home of Colorado.

Services: A memorial service is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Monument Hill Memorial Park, Woodland.

CORTEZ

Cindy Cortez

Cindy Cortez died in San Jose Aug. 7, 2005 at age 48.

Mrs. Cortez was born Jan. 9, 1957 to Josephina Vidal and the late Julian Vidal.

Survivors include Mrs. Cortez's children, Lisa Sotelo of San Jose and Doug and Jason Cortez of Arizona; eight grandchildren; her mother, Josephina Vidal; her brothers, Albert Duarte, Ruben and Julian Vidal; her grandmother, Virginia Lopez, all of San Jose; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Cortez, her father, Julian Vidal and her grandfather, Eleazar Lopez.

Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, at the Lima Family Edrickson Mortuary, 710 Willow St. in San Jose. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
