Mark "Mike" A. Bozaich
Mark "Mike" A. Bozaich, a 51-year resident of Davis, died July 22, 2004, at his Davis home after a lengthy illness. He was 82.
Born Jan. 3, 1922, in Sacramento, he was a 1940 graduate of Sacramento High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Bozaich owned and operated the Sacramento Auto Truck Co. for more than 50 years and was an active member of the California Trucking Association. He was also a member of the Slavic-American Social Club and Sons of Cortula Society and was an avid golfer and photographer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Betty Warner Bozaich.
He is survived by his children, Mark Bozaich and his wife Lisa of Citrus Heights, Anne Makowsky and her husband Max of Cape Cod, Mass., and Glen Bozaich of Davis; and brothers, Marvin Bozaich of Hayward and Daniel Bozaich of Wilton.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 116 D St. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at the Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road.

BETTIS
Barbara J. Bettis
A memorial service is planned Wednesday for Barbara J. Bettis, who died Dec. 7, 2003, at Courtyard Health Care in Davis. She was 71 years old.
She was born Nov. 21, 1932, in Portland, Ore., where her father owned an automobile garage. She grew up and attended school in the Portland area.
She moved to Davis in 1965 with her two children and began working at Quessenberry Drug Store in downtown Davis. She always loved her pets and animals, and moved on to work at the UC Davis Veterinary Medicine Clinic as an animal technician.
She loved working with the young vet students, along with the doctors, in caring for sick and injured animals. She made many friends among pet owners who would come from all over the state to have their pets cared for at this special veterinary facility. She retired in 1996.
Barbara met and marriage Donald Bettis, an editor at The Daily Democrat newspaper, in 1969. She enjoyed keeping up with his schedule of community activities throughout the county, and cherished his old typewriter.
A loving mother, she enjoyed her family and grandchildren along with her many pets. She lived in North Davis and loved taking her dogs to the ponds where she could watch the wildlife.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982. She is survived by her son, Greg Francis of Citrus Heights, and her daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Martin Armstrong of Davis. She had three grandchildren: Rachel Francis of Santa Cruz, Greg Berner of Davis and Paul Armstrong of Davis; two step-granddaughters, Natalie Armstrong of Crockett and Heather Norlie of Sacramento; and two step-great-granddaughters, Haley and Katie Norlie of Sacramento.
Friends are invited to a memorial service Wednesday at noon at the Davis Community Church, 412 C St. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Yolo County SPCA, P.O. Box 510, Davis, CA 95617.
BEUTLER
Neal K. Beutler
Neal K. Beutler died suddenly in Los Angeles earlier this month of heart disease. Born in Sacramento in 1945 to the late Lucille D. and Clyde E. Beutler, he was 55.
He grew up in Tracy and was a graduate of Cowell College at UC Santa Cruz. He also lived in Santa Cruz, Berkeley and Davis while studying for a time at UC Davis.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Mark Underwood, and two nephews, David and Matt of Auburn. A memorial service is planned for later this summer.

BEWLEY
Christine E. Bewley
Christine E. Bewley succumbed to cancer on March 3, 2006, in Guelph, Canada, after a prolonged battle that drew awe and admiration for her unwavering positive outlook, her family said.
Born in 1944, she was described as a true, selfless and helping friend. She was a gifted artist, designer, and contributor to her local arts community. Her spontaneous creativity also extended to the kitchen, to the delight of many. She was an ardent hiker, gardener and traveler, with a joy for life.
She and her husband, Derek, lived in Davis for a short time in the fall of 2003 when Derek, an internationally known expert on the biology of seeds, was on sabbatical at UC Davis.
She is survived by her husband, Derek; her children, Alex and Janette; and her grandchildren, Maya and Tate.
She is further survived by her brothers, Jim and Rob of Stafford, England.

BIASI
Joseph “Joe” D. Biasi
Services for Joe Biasi held Tuesday
Private family graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, February 17, 1987 at Winters Cemetery for Joseph Domenick Biasi, 61. He died February 13, 1987 at Yolo General Hospital after a long illness.
Biasi, who had lived continuously in Winters since 1978, was born June 1, 1925 in Guinda in Yolo County. He operated a trucking firm for 14 years.
Biasi served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bonnie Biasi of Winters; mother Mrs. Antonita Biasi, also of Winters; and two daughters, Patricia Biasi of Winters and Katherine Hobbs of Winemucca, Nevada. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Biasi, Jr., who died in 1980.
Also surviving are four brothers: Vito Biasi of Sacramento; Pat Biasi of Concord; and Bill and Sam Biasi, both of Winters. Three sisters are surviving: Margaret Toombs of Blythe; Katherine Carrion of Winters; and Angie Murphy of Puyallup, Washington. Eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
Funeral services were under the direction of Smith's Colonial Chapel.
BICKHAM
Betty L. Bickham
Rites held for Betty L. Bickham
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the New Life Family Church, 315 Edwards Street, Winters, for Betty Leone Bickham, 67, who died Thursday, Feb. 15, 1990, in Sutter Davis Hospital after a long illness.
Rev. Michael Farias officiated at the church services, with Cindy Farias acting as soloist. Burial followed in the Winters Cemetery under direction of Smith's Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Jay Constant officiating at graveside.
Born June 2, 1922, in Cleveland, Oklahoma, the deceased was a longtime resident of Winters. A homemaker and a member of the New Life Family Church, Mrs. Bickham and her husband, Harold, on Feb. 10 celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Jeanette Cress of Roseburg, Oregon; three brothers, Jack Callison of Oxnard, Gary Callison of Winters and Don Callison of Vacaville; a sister, Wilma Quintero of Vacaville, and one grandson.
Pallbearers were: Gary Callison, Joe Quintero, John Cress, Don Callison, Jack Callison and Jay Constant.
BIGELOW
Kenneth Lee Bigelow (1st of 2 obits.)
Kenneth Lee Bigelow of Woodland passed away at his Victorian home on College Street on May 8, 2005 at age 79. He loved his family, served his country and shared his many talents as a master craftsman. He was employed by the USDA as a Soil Conservationist and retired in 1981 after 30 years of service.
Mr. Bigelow was born Feb. 25, 1926 to Kenneth L. and Mildred Bigelow in La Grange, Ill. He had been a Woodland resident for 44 1/2 years.
As a young man Ken joined the Marine Corps May 26, 1944 and participated in action against the enemy at Okinawa, Ryuky Islands and participated in the Occupation of China and received an honorable discharge on Aug. 11, 1946.
The following year he met his wife of 54 1/2 years Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Wallace. They were marriage on Nov. 24, 1950. His college education was received at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Ken and Betty have three children, Susan Bigelow, Nancy Petersen and Robert Bigelow. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed the hobby of furniture restoration and held an adult education lifetime credential in furniture restoration and caning. He enjoyed hunting, hiking and was an avid fisherman. He was a leader in Indian Guides, Boy Scouts and took pride in teaching soil conservation at Philmont Scout Ranch.
Over a period of years together, Ken and Betty restored their Victorian home and garden at 746 College St. Ken spent many, many hours in his shop restoring the beautiful antique furniture that now fills every room of the Bigelow home. He was well known for his ability to restore and bring life back to old furniture and shared this gift with his children and the many Adult Education students that he taught. He loved his home and generously shared his home and talents with the community.
His is survived by his wife Betty, children, Susan, Nancy and husband Jeff and Robert, sister-in-law Jean Miller and husband Floyd, brother-in-law Bill Wallace and wife Roberta, granddaughter Jennifer Petersen, step-grandson Josh Marsh and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Kenneth L. and Mildred Bigelow, his sister Ethel Beede and her husband John Beede.
The family requests memorials in Kenneth Bigelow's name be directed to the Woodland Library Rose Club, 250 First St., Woodland, 95695 or the Parkinson Disease Foundation.
Services: A private family graveside service was held Wednesday, May 11 at Woodland City Cemetery. A celebration of Kenneth's life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
