Claude Wesley Judson
Claude Wesley Judson died on Friday, Oct. 8, 2004 at Stollwood Convalescent Hospital. He was 92.
Masonic graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Woodland Cemetery, followed by a 12:30 p.m. memorial service at Woodland United Methodist Church, 212 Second St. in Woodland.
Born Aug. 12, 1912, In Eden, Idaho, to Charles and Ethel Judson, he had been a resident of Yolo County for the last 70 years.
He was a warehouse man and manager of River Farms in Knights Landing for 60 years. He was a past president of the Yolo Fliers Club, past president of California-Nevada Warehouseman Association, Past Master Lodge #41 F & A.M., twice past patron of Grafton Eastern Star, a member of Sacramento Scottish Rite, Ben Ali Shrine, Woodland BPOE 1299 and a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Judson of Woodland; daughter, Claudia Chesney and her husband Jack of Reno, Nev.; grandson Tyler Chesney and his wife Michelle of Reno, Nev.; and granddaughter Paige Chesney of Las Vegas, Nev.; and great grandchildren Stevie Southard of Las Vegas, Nev. and Jordan Chesney and Brook Chesney of Reno, Nev.
He is further survived by step daughters Darla Priddy of Cumming, Ga., and Karen Nelson of Livermore; and step grandchildren Jeri Costantino of Batavin, N.Y., Janet Kumar of New York City, Steven Nelson of San Francisco, Kris Nelson of Kansas City, Kan., Lisa Nelson of Texas and Shannon McAfee of Cumming, Ga.; and five step great grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be sent to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817.

JUENGER
Friedrich K. Juenger
Friedrich K. Juenger, professor of law at UC Davis, who was a leading authority on private international law, died Friday of lung complications. He was 70.
Juenger, who had been a professor at the law school since 1975, taught conflict of laws, comparative law, international transactions and torts. He had published and lectured widely both in the United States and abroad. Fluent in four languages, Juenger was the author of four books and numerous articles published in American and foreign journals. While teaching and writing were his passions, Juenger taught as a visiting professor at universities in Australia, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand and Uruguay.
"Fritz will be deeply missed by all of us in the law school, " said Rex Perschbacher, dean of the UC Davis School of Law. "We have suffered a tremendous loss with the passing of our dear colleague, teacher and friend. Words cannot do justice to what he has meant to King Hall. Besides being an international scholar whose work was known all over the world, Fritz was the consummate law teacher and his students loved him for it. As a scholar Fritz was instrumental in helping to establish the UC Davis School of Law's scholarly reputation."
Juenger received numerous awards and honors during his tenure at the law school, including the Distinguished Teaching Award in 1985. A Fulbright senior researcher, Juenger was also a legal adviser to foreign countries and a member of many international legal societies and associations.
He received his legal degree from Columbia University Law School in 1960 and a masters of law degree from the University of Michigan. Following graduation he practiced law until 1966 when he joined the faculty at Wayne State University. Ten years later he joined the UC Davis School of Law.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; and their sons, Thomas and John, both of Los Angeles.
A celebration of his life is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Buehler Alumni Center, in the AGR room. There will be music, memorial talks and a reception. The law school has developed a special fund in his name. For more information call the UCD School of Law.

Services Held for Russell Invernon
Friends here have received word of the death of Russell Edward Alcocer Invernon, 23, in a vehicle accident near Auburn February 28, 1988. He was the son of Louis and Betty Invernon of Sacramento and grandson of Raymond and Delfina Invernon of Naples, Idaho.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 4, in the Land Park Chapel of Harry A. Nauman & Son, in Sacramento. Burial followed in the Mount Vernon Memorial Park Cemetery.
BURKES
Christopher Walden Burkes
Christopher Walden Burkes peacefully passed away at home in Sacramento, Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004.
Christopher was born in Yuba City on April 2, 1970 to the late Michael Burkes and Patricia Lopez Muller.
Chris spent his early childhood in San Francisco before moving to Sacramento where he graduated from Sacramento High School in 1987.
He soon thereafter was diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
Approximately five years later, Christopher was the proud recipient of a heart transplant at Stanford Hospital.
After recuperating he went on to receive his Bachelor of Science from Phoenix University in information technology.
He was employed with the California Dental Association pursuing a rewarding career utilizing his college degree.
One of Christopher pastimes was DJ’ing for clubs and weddings.
He was chosen as DJ of the Year for the Sacramento area by the Sacramento Bee in the early 1990s.
Chris recently joined an endurance training program for cycling and was a member of the Sacramento Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s "Team in Training" program where he participated in endurance rides to raise money for blood-related cancer patients.
Chris volunteered for numerous organ procurement agencies.
He was an avid spokesman for organ donation.
Chris led an active, full life up until his sudden death.
Christopher is survived by his parents, Louie and Patricia Muller of Woodland and companion Denise Roberts of Woodland; maternal grandmother Consuelo March of Gridley, uncles Rudy Lopez and his wife Neva of Corona, Tom and Angela Gill of Gridley, Danny Gill of Ruth, James and Diana Guess of Lake Almanor and aunts Christina Lopez, Barbara Gill and Rosemary Anderson plus numerous cousins. He is survived by his paternal grandparents John and Maxine Burkes of Pleasanton, uncles Lane Burkes of Pleasanton, Fred Burkes of Sacramento and Terry and Danielle of Carmichael and numerous cousins.
A vigil will be held Friday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Court and Walnut Streets in Woodland with funeral services on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Monument Hill Memorial Park.

VAN RUITEN
David John Van Ruiten
David John Van Ruiten of Truckee died Nov. 7, 2005 at age 45.
Mr. Van Ruiten was born Jan. 22, 1960 in Woodland. He grew up in a farming community in Sutter Basin where he spent 20 years helping run the family business. He helped found the Sugar Bowl Academy and eventually gave up farming to became a full time resident in Truckee, working at Sugar Bowl as events manager and involved with the sports of skiing, ski racing, snowboarding and teaching.
Survivors include Mr. Van Ruiten's children, Elisa, Nicholas and Samantha Van Ruiten of Truckee; the mother of his children, Patti Van Ruiten; his parents, George and Kay Van Ruiten of Robbins; one brother; six sisters; and 22 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, James Andrew.
The family requests that memorials in Mr. Van Ruiten's name may be directed to the David Van Ruiten Memorial Fund, c/o Sugar Bowl Ski Area, P.O. Box 5, Borden, CA 95724.
Services: Services were held in Truckee and Sugar Bowl Nov. 10 to 12. The Truckee-Tahoe Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.

David John Van Ruiten, 45, of Truckee, passed away Nov. 7, 2005.
David is preceded by his son, James Andrew and survived by his children Elisa, Nicholas and Samantha Van Ruiten of Truckee, the mother of his children Patti Van Ruiten, his parents George and Kay Van Ruiten of Robbins, 1 brother, 6 sisters and 22 nieces and nephews.
David grew up in a farming community in Sutter Basin where he spent 20 years helping run the family business.
It was during this time that he was first introduced to the Donner Summit Area by a family friend.
It was the start of his great romance with this area and the sport of skiing.
He instilled his passion for skiing in this children, encouraging them in ski racing, snowboarding and teaching.
He helped found the Sugar Bowl Academy and eventually gave up farming and became a full time resident in Truckee, working at Sugar Bowl as Events Manager.
He loved the sport of skiing and through his hard work and good times shared the sport with so many.
There are hardly words to describe how much he is loved and will be missed.
He was a compassionate and loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend.
He will forever be in our hearts and always remembered, each in our own way, but none-the-less, as one of the greatest men you have ever known.
Services were held in Truckee and Sugar Bowl Nov. 10 to 12.
