Orville Lee Gray, Sr.
Orville Lee Gray Sr. died in Woodland Friday, July 25, 2003, at age 66.
Born April 10, 1937, in Hollister, Mr. Gray had been a Yolo County resident for 46 years. He worked for Rain for Rent and E.L. Wallace & Sons.
Survivors include his wife, Franchone M. L. Gray of Woodland; sons, Orville Lee Gray Jr. of Napa, and Walter R.L. Gray and wife Rachael; grandson, Branden L. Gray, all of Sacramento; granddaughter, Sheanna V. Gray and great-granddaughter Jazmine A. Garcia of Woodland.
Arrangements are under the direction of North Sacramento Funeral Home.
Services: Cremains will be returned to the family.
GRAYSON
Helen Rose Grayson
Helen Rose Grayson died in her Woodland home Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at age 84.
Born Oct. 27, 1918, in Gaskin Switch, Ark., Mrs. Grayson had been a Yolo County resident for 37 years. She worked as a seamstress for several local businesses. She was also self-employed for 12 years. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Woodland.
Survivors include her stepdaughters, Peggy Insell of Turlock and Betty Weaver of Fresno; niece, Barbara Kuns of Yuba City; nephews, Henry Emitte of Tulare and Michael Emitte of Medford, Ore.; several other family members and her caregiver and friend, Ann Andree of Woodland. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters.
The family requests memorials be directed to First Baptist Church of Woodland, 1616 West Street. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.
Services: Private burial will be held at Sutter Cemetery, Sutter.
BLAYLOCK
Freeda S. Blaylock
Former Winters resident Freeda S. Blaylock passed away on March 9, 2003 in Porterville. Born on July 11, 1925, she was 77 years old.
A graveside service will be held at the Winters Cemetery on Wednesday, March 19, at 11 a.m.
BLEDSOE
Lem Bledsoe
Lem Bledsoe, age 86, passed away on Jan. 20, 2006. He was born on Sept. 25, 1919 in Oklahoma to William and Minnie Edmonston Bledsoe. He marriage Dicie E. Constant on March 7, 1947 in Reno, Nevada. Mr. Bledsoe joined the U.S. Army at age 21 where he served his country from 1941 to 1945 as a member of the 232nd Infantry, during this time he received the Bronze Star for Bravery. Lem was a strong man, he was extremely kind and very courageous, he took upon himself the responsibility of ensuring that all of his family members were well cared for. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, he was also a member of the V.F.W. in Winters and the American Legion in Vacaville. In 1983 Lem retired from P.G. & E. where he had been employed for 34 years. He always enjoyed a good hunting or fishing trip, he loved to camp and spent some very memorable times with family traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Dicie of Winters; children, Larry Gene Bledsoe (Carol) of Eden, Utah; Laura Diane Ford (William) of Clear Lake, and Douglas Jay Bledsoe of Winters, California; grandchildren, Larry Jr.; Douglas; Cheryl; Christine; Ronald Lem and Daniel Jay; Great Grandson, Matthew and a Great-Great Granddaughter, Hannah; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Edward Bledsoe; his parents; brothers, Clint Bledsoe; Jeff Bledsoe; Melvin Bledsoe; sisters, Eula Bledsoe; Mae Bledsoe; Eules Bledsoe; Mamie Baughman and Ruby Redmill.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church located at 512 First Street Winters, California. A viewing was held at the church one hour prior to services. Interment followed in the Winters Cemetery under the direction of Wiscombe’s Davis Funeral Chapel. Those who wish to sign a guest book on...."
BLEDSOE
Ronald Edward Bledsoe
Ronald Edward Bledsoe died May 9, 2000 in Anchorage, Alaska. Mr. Bledsoe was a former resident of Winters and had lived in Alaska for four years. He was born December 25, 1951 in Woodland and lived for many years in Vacaville where he attended school.
Mr. Bledsoe enjoyed hunting and fishing and had taken taxidermy courses. He also enjoyed camping.
He leaves behind his son Ronald Lem Bledsoe; parents Lem and Dicie Bledsoe of Winters; brother Larry Bledsoe and sister-in-law Carol of Eden, Utah; brother Douglas Bledsoe of Winters; sister Diane Ford and brother-in-law Bill Ford of Vacaville; nieces Cheryl and Christine of Vacaville; nephews Larry Jr., Douglas and Daniel of Utah and Matthew of Vacaville.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service May 20, 2000 at 11 a.m. at Lighthouse Christian Church, 418 Haven Street in Winters. Private inurnment will follow at the Winters Cemetery.
Smith's Colonial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
BLEMER
Beryl Whitney Heuermann Blemer
Private memorial services are planned for Beryl Whitney Heuermann Blemer, 94, who died Friday, May 2, 2003, in South Thomaston, Maine.
Born in San Francisco, Mrs. Blemer was the daughter of Vincent Whitney and Pearl Landers Whitney. She was educated at Sacred Heart in San Francisco and Dominican College in San Rafael.
Following her marriage to Eric E. Heuermann of San Francisco, the couple lived on a family ranch near Woodland. Mrs. Heuermann and her husband subsequently lived in Pelham Manor, N.Y. and Atlanta, Ga., eventually returning to San Francisco in 1960.
After Mr. Heuermann's death in 1973, Mrs. Heuermann marriage Dr. John W. Blemer of Danville, Ca. in 1985. Following his death Mrs. Blemer returned to San Francisco, living there until 1997 when she moved to Maine. She is survived by her sons, Eric E. Heuermann of Groveland, and William W. Heuermann of South Thomaston, Maine; a stepdaughter Lois Ann Lippincott of Orinda.; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Blemer was the granddaughter of California pioneer Joel Parker Whitney, and will be buried
at the Whitney family mausoleum in Rocklin.
BLEVINS
John Steven Blevins
John Steven Blevins of Sacramento - know affectionately as "Coach, " for his more than 19 years leading Davis High School's wrestling team, as well as teams in other sports - died Jan. 8, 2004, in Sacramento, with family at his side, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 64.
He was born Aug. 10, 1939, in Orofino, Idaho. After earning a master's degree from Chico State University in 1969, he spent the next 30 years teaching physical education.
His real passion was coaching. In addition to wrestling, he coached golf, baseball and football.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, playing softball and collection root beer memorabilia.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, his son, Steven, and his daughter, Lori, all of Sacramento, stepdaughter, Jenifer Rochester of Knights Landing and stepson, Cory Rochester of Redding. He is also survived by his stepmother, Janie Blevins, his sisters, Boni Schueller and Noncy Borgman, all of St. Maries, Idaho, Alice VanDorn of Osburn, Idaho, and Janis Wentworth of Chico.
At the request of the deceased, no services will be held. His final resting place will be in the Idaho Hills overlooking the Clearwater River, where he hunted as a child.

BLEYHL
Zella E. Bleyhl
Zella Eileen Bleyhl died April 9, 2001, at her home in Davis. Born in Rockport, Ind., on Feb. 20, 1913, she was 88.
She graduated from East High School in Denver and attended Colorado Women's College in Denver. She also received private musical training in the harp in Colorado and in Maine.
During World War II, she served her country in a secretarial position with the Army Air Corps, stationed at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. After the war, she worked in a similar capacity with the American Red Cross in Europe.
She marriage Norris A. Bleyhl, Ph.D., on June 17, 1950, in Denver. The couple moved to Chico in 1951, where Norris was the chief librarian at Chico State College until his retirement in 1979. After he retired, they moved to Davis.
She was active in PEO, the choir at the Church of St. Martin in Davis, and enjoyed her family, travel, gardening, walking with friends, music (especially her concert harp), art and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris.
She is survived by a son, David, of Sacramento; brother, G. Paul Smith, M.D., and wife, Patricia M. Smith of Grand Junction, Colo.; and two nephews, a niece and a grand nephew.
Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Davis Cemetery, 820 Pole Line Road, Davis. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of St. Martin, 640 Hawthorne Lane. There will be a reception in the Parish Hall after the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the PEO Scholarship, PEO NM Chapter, 2521 Regis Drive, Davis, CA 95616; the Elizabeth McDonald Fund, c/o Audrey West, 1201 Colgate Drive, Davis, CA 95616 or to the American Cancer Society.
