Casey "H" Bennett
Casey "H" Bennett died peacefully Aug. 27, 2005 at Woodland Memorial Hospital at age 52 after a long illness. By his side was Shirley, his greatest love in life and his wife of 33 years. They shared a bond that could not be broken.
Casey was born in Sacramento and was a Woodland resident for the last 26 years. Casey enjoyed the outdoors, animals and music.
Casey is survived by his beloved wife Shirley Bennett, daughter Shannan Truong and husband Kien Truong, daughter Holly Ford and husband Jared Ford, daughter Ariel Bennett and Brad Chapman and three grandchildren, Alyssa Ford, Dorian Ford and Lily Truong. He is also survived by his sister Mary Bennett-Landrum and husband Bob Landrum, sister-in-law Barbara Cuilla and husband Frank Cuilla, sister-in-law Patricia Lyons and husband Bob Lyons, brother-in-law Edwin Byrnes and father William Bennett. He was preceded in death by his mother Jackie Bennett.
A gathering will be held at the family's residence at 6 p.m. Sept. 1. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
BENNETT
Elsie R. Bennett
Elsie Rosina Bennett died on Dec. 16, 1999, in Auburn. Born on March 18, 1926, in Hayward, she was 73.
She spent her childhood at the family-owned store near Niles. She marriage George A. Bennett in 1946. The couple moved to Santa Cruz County and were longtime residents of Ben Lomond. George was a mail carrier in that community for many years and Elsie worked in the Santa Cruz County Recorder's Office.
In the mid-1960s they also published the Ben Lomond Circular newspaper.
In the 1980s they moved to Tracy and later to Davis.
She is survived by her son, William J. Bennett of Pilot Hill; her daughter, Lynn Noble of Georgetown; her two grandsons, Brian C. Bennett and Jeffrey L. Bennett, both of Davis; granddaughter, Jarma A. Bennett of Fresno; and two step-grandsons, Jeff Shaffer of Felton and Brian P. Bennett of Sacramento.
She was also the proud grandmother of George Brooke and Tahi.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Davis Funeral Chapel in Davis. Burial will follow at the Davis Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.
BENNETT
Kathleen Anne Bennett
Kathleen Anne Bennett died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at age 80.
Born Aug. 26, 1922, a native of Woodland, Mrs. Bennett was the daughter of Bernard and Frances (Snyder) Slaven. She graduated from Woodland High School in 1941. She had been a resident of Sacrament for 52 years. She worked for State of California for 34 years including Department of Public Works, Department of Motor Vehicles and State Board of Equalization. She spent many hours as a volunteer worker. According to her family members, "she enjoyed reading, gardening and crafts."
Mrs. Bennett is survived by her sisters, Mrs. Bernadette Grimshaw of Woodland and Mrs. Mary Tauzer of Korbel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Pierce Bennett in 1994.
A private interment is scheduled at East Lawn Memorial Park.

BENSON
Janet May Benson
Janet May Benson died Nov. 8, 2005, at Sierra Healthcare Convalescent Hospital in Davis. She was 89.
A memorial service begins at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, in the Fireside Room of the Davis Community Church, 412 C St.
Born Aug. 30, 1916, she grew up in Woodland with her four brothers. She received her bachelor's degree in sociology and political science from the University of Utah where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She worked in Sacramento and marriage there. With three young children, she lived in occupied Japan in 1948 and 1949. She had wonderful organizational skills and used them in her communities and churches.
In the Livermore Presbyterian church, she taught Sunday school, was an elder and deacon, and president of the Women's Association. She was also active in the American Association of University Women and was a PTA president.
In Pleasanton she was in charge of the Senior Lunch and Meals on Wheels program. She was a founding partner of “Grandma's House” (antiques).
In Davis, she was a docent at International House and deacon in the Davis Community Church. She enjoyed OBB (Older But Better) Club, a group of female friends who enjoyed many social events. She was active in the walkers group and Davis Senior Center with her dear friend, Charlie Russell.
She was devoted to her immediate family. She kept cards and letters coming in constant communication. She enjoyed many travels, visiting her family in Germany, Yosemite, Seattle and Garberville. There were many wonderful elder hostel learning vacations.
She will be missed by her family and remains in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill, Phil and Bob Brubaker.
She is survived by her children, Karen Quinn, Marilyn Ehrenreich, Steve Shewchuck and Bill Alexander; stepson Dave Benson; stepdaughter Karen Benson; her brother, Richard Brubaker, his wife Winnie and their children, Alan, Beverly, Carol and Bruce and his wife Nancy and daughter Hazel; her sister-in-law Louise Wattron and her children, Phillip, Janice and Joan; and nieces Brenda and Diana.
She is further survived by her grandchildren, Kevin Quinn, Jessica and Clement Ehrenreich, Silas Alexander, Nicole and Kayla; and great-grandchildren, Larry Joe, Jeremiah and Amber Quinn, and Tyler.
BENTLEY
Chester Bentley
Chester Bentley dies in Albany
Chester Bentley died at his home in Albany on Sunday, Feb. 24.
According to his wishes, there will be no service and his ashes will be inurned in Napa in his mother's plot.
Mr. Bentley graduated from Winters High School in 1931.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Bentley.
He is survived by his cousin, Vivian Lipelt of Woodland, and numerous non-local cousins.
BENTZ
Lolita M. Bentz
Lolita M. Bentz of Davis died May 20, 2002, at Turning Leaf Care Facility in Davis. She was 93.
She was born on July 20, 1908, in Michigan.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara and son-in-law Bill Dendy of El Macero; her grandson Greg and his wife Alix Dendy of Pacifica; eight nephews and nieces and their families; and her caregivers at Turning Leaf.
Yolo Hospice assisted in her final care.
A funeral service and burial will take place Monday in Houston, Miss. She will be buried
beside her husband, John J. Bentz, who died in 1980.
Davis Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements in Davis. Houston Memorial Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements in Mississippi.

BENWARE
Ruth Conrad Benware
Ruth Conrad Benware died July 1, 2003, in Davis. She was 87.
She was born Aug. 20, 1915, in Chicago and lived most of her life in Southern California. She moved to Davis in 2001, to be near family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donivan Wilson Benware and two brothers.
She is survived by her sons Will Benware of Davis and Paul Benware of Quakertown, Pa., six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday in the Fireside Room of Davis Community Church, 412 C St.
