Lucille Strosk Bankowski
Lucille Strosk Bankowski died April 15, 2001. Born March 2, 1916, in New Jersey, she was 85.
She was raised in Berkeley, and after graduating from the Anna Head School, she attended UC Berkeley, where she earned a degree in psychology. Her husband, Raymond, was a graduate student in veterinary science when they met. They were marriage in 1940.
In 1950, she and her husband moved to Davis, where he joined the faculty of the veterinary school. They both loved to travel and visited most areas of the world. After her husband's death in 1993, she continued to travel with friends and her daughter Susan.
She loved needlework and was co-owner of the Barbara-Lou Knit Shop during the 1960s.
She was always active in the community. She was a member of the PTA, University Farm Circle, Enchanted Hills, the California Veterinary Medical Association Auxiliary, Sutter Davis Hospital Volunteers, Embroiderers' Guild of America, UC Davis Presents and International House.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Irene of Davis and Linda Bankowski of Riverside.
A funeral mass will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church, 200 W. 14th St. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Sutter Davis Hospital Auxiliary or Yolo Hospice.

Dallas Odell Banks
Dallas Odell Banks, a longtime UC Davis mathematics professor, died June 27, 2003, in Davis. He was 74.
Born Oct. 21, 1928, in Campbell, Neb., to Henry Aaron and Mable Eva Banks, he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Oregon State College.
He worked as a math assistant for General Electric in Hanford, Wash., then spent two years in the U.S. Army before returning to school. He earned his doctorate from Carnegie Tech University in Pittsburgh, Pa., working for Westinghouse Electric during summer breaks.
He served as a UCD professor from 1959 to 1991, and was a consultant to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Lockheed Aircraft.
He was a member and elder at Davis Community Church, and a member of the Lambda Chi Fraternity, The Professors in Harmony quartet and the Davis/Vacaville chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America.
He is survived by his wife Maryella Louise Banks of Davis, daughter Karen Walton and husband Greg of Martinez, son Steven Banks and wife Julie of Sunnyvale, son Davis Banks and wife Heather of Napa, sister Modena Bryan of Portland, grandchildren Michael, Patrick, Kathleen and Jeffrey Banks, all of Sunnyvale, and Aaron and Nathan Banks of Napa, nephew Jerry Bryan, his wife Loree and their daughters Erin and Emily, nephew James Bryan, his wife Barbara and their sons David and Gregory.
A memorial service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Davis Community Church, 412 C St., with a private burial to at Davis Cemetery.

BANKS
Frances Irene Banks
Frances Irene Banks died in Bakersfield Monday, May 16, 2005 at age 90.
Mrs. Banks was born Nov. 15, 1914 in Ohio. She resided in Yolo County for many years. She was a homemaker and pastor's wife. She attended Faith Temple in Bakersfield.
Survivors include Mrs. Banks' daughters, Shelba J. Frescas and her husband Eduardo of Bakersfield and Betty A. Northcutt and her husband Jack of Medford, Ore.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, the Reverend Walter Banks; her daughter, Margaret Frescas and her son, Bernard Banks.
Services: A funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, with visitation prior to the service, at the New Testament Church, 108 W. Woodland Ave., Woodland with Pastor Doug Zeck officiating. Interment will follow the service at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 County Road 22, Woodland. Greenlawn Mortuary Funeral Directors of Bakersfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
BARAJAS
Amparo Barajas
Amparo Barajas died in her Woodland home on Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at age 65.
Born Nov. 24, 1938, in Mexico, where she grew up and attended school. Mrs. Barajas had been a Yolo County resident for the past 39 years, having raised her family. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Arturo Barajas; daughters, Maria L. Barajas, Carmen Barajas, and Rosalinda Barajas, all of Woodland, and Amparo Barajas of Irapuato, Mexico; son, Arturo Barajas of Woodland; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Eduardo Vargas, in 1995.
Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Services of Woodland.
Services: A mass of Christian burial is scheduled at 2:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Woodland. Interment will be at Cueramaro, Guanajuato, Mexico.
BARBA
Frank Barba
Frank Barba of Davis died Dec. 10, 2003. He was 74 years old.
A native of California, he was a longtime member of the Teamsters Union, and worked as a truck driver for Lucky Supermarkets. He served in the U.S. Army in 1950 and fought in the Korean conflict. He enjoyed golf.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; his son, Frank Barba and his wife Shirley of Woodland; his daughter, Cindy Barba-Van Wey and her husband Troy Van Wey of Fremont; his brother, Vince Barba of Lincoln; and his grandchild, Tucker Van Wey.
A funeral service celebrating his life will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Santos-Robinson Mortuary, 160 Estudillo Ave. in San Leandro. Interment will follow at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.
Visitation begins Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m.
BARBANO
John Ronald Barbano
John Ronald Barbano died at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento on Tuesday at age 70.
Born July 23, 1935, Mr. Barbano was a resident of Woodland and Yolo County for the last 26 years.
He worked as a histologist at the UC Davis diagnostic laboratories, working in research and with the veterinary teaching hospital division of the university.
He served as a heavy weapons specialist with the U.S. Army 18th Infantry from 1958 to 1964.
He was awarded the Marksman and Sharpshooter medals and the National Defense Service Medal prior to his discharge from the California Army Reserve.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Susan Barbano; his daughter Laura Barbano; and son Michael Barbano, all of Woodland.
He is also survived by brothers Norm and and Julio Barbano.
Services: Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland, with interment following at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 800 West St., Woodland. Donations can be made to the Oncology Research Center, UC Davis, 2315 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, 95817. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
BARBEE
Kristen Marie Barbee
Kristen Marie Barbee passed away on Saturday, June 19, 1999, at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. She had been a resident of Winters since 1998 and had moved from Pittsburgh, California. Born on May 6, 1987, in Oakland, she was 12 years old.
Kristen was a student at Winters Middle School where she recently completed the sixth grade. She was a very active young lady who enjoyed sports and animals. Cats, dogs and her rat, Toby, were very important to her.
She is survived by her parents, Andrew and Debra Barbee; brother, Andrew, and sister, Amber, all of Winters; grandparents, Pamela Logan of Oakland, Delores and Jack Barbee of Dixon, Roy and Evelyn Conradi of Gardnerville, Nevada; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
A visitation was held Wednesday, June 23, from 4 - 8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 24, at 11 a.m. at the Winters Cemetery. Pastor Tom Norvell officiated. The graveside services were held privately for the family.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 1600 Sacramento Inn Way, Sacramento, CA 95815.
Arrangements were under the direction of Smith's Colonial Chapel.
