James Cameron McGibbon
James Cameron McGibbon died in Woodland Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at age 90. He was born to Dr. James Archibald and Barbara Ann McGibbon Feb. 3, 1913, in Edmonton, Canada.
Mr. McGibbon had been a Woodland resident for 12 years. He retired from the Royal Canadian Air Force as a pilot with the rank of squadron Leader in 1960. He then lived in Burlingame, Ca., where he became a U.S. citizen and had a second career at United Air Lines, retiring in 1975.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, Dr. James Edward McGibbon and his wife Susan; grandchildren, Michael, Bruce, Dr. Margaret-Anne and her fiancé, John Fernandez, James Thomas and his wife Jessica; great-grandchildren, James Paul and Julia; daughter, Catherine Post; and sister, Barbara Braidwood. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce; and his sister, Helen McGregor.
The family requests memorials be directed to Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Woodland. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for noon, Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at Holy Rosary Church on Walnut Street, followed by burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery on West St., Woodland.
McGIBBON
Margaret Mary McGibbon
Margaret Mary McGibbon died at Woodland Memorial Hospital Saturday, April 9, 2005 at age 88.
Mrs. Mc Gibbon was born Feb. 11, 1917 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She had been a Yolo County resident for 14 years. She was a graduate of Edmonton Separate High School. She worked at the Royal Trust Company in Edmonton for two years and for Safeco Insurance Company in Burlingame for 11 years. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Burlingame for 31 years and, since 1991, a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Woodland.
Survivors include Mrs. McGibbon's daughter, Mary Catherine Post of Sacramento; her son, James E. McGibbon of Woodland; her grandchildren, James Thomas McGibbon of Atlanta, Margaret-Anne McGibbon Fernandez of Madrid, Spain, Bruce Andrew McGibbon of Brentwood and Michael Stephen McGibbon of New York; three great-grandchildren and her brother Frank J. Dostaler of Jacksonville, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Cameron McGibbon.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. McGibbon's name be directed to Citizens Who Care, 1017 Main St., Woodland.
Services: A memorial Mass will be celebrated at noon, Saturday, April 23 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland with Father Colm O'Kelly officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
McGILVRAY
Patricia S. McGilvray
Patricia Sarll McGilvray died March 29, 2000, at the Stollwood Convalescent Hospital in Woodland. Born on Dec. 12, 1916, in Madera, to the late Dr. Frank and Flora Sarll, she was 83.
She was a resident of Yolo County for 61 years. She began her teaching career at the Holy Rosary School in 1959 and taught there for a short time before teaching at Cacheville Elementary in Yolo until it closed.
She then taught at Laugenour School until 1972 and Freeman Elementary until her retirement in 1979. She was a member of the Omega Nu Sorority and a former member of St. Paul's Altar Society in Knights Landing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Krohn McGilvray, on June 13, 1972; and her sister, Eleanor Sarll McCann.
She is survived by her son, Jack Pepper of Kentucky; grandchildren, Bucky Pepper of Kentucky and Amanda Pepper of Tennessee; two nieces, Mary McCann Zakai of Santa Clara and her husband Avi and Victoria Gonsalves of Modesto and her husband Jeff; and a cousin, Patricia McKillican of Lakeport.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Holy Rosary Church, with interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
McGINN
Michael Dennis McGinn
Michael Dennis McGinn of Nevada City and Trinidad died Dec. 19, 2005, in Roseville. He was 68.
Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at Chapel of the Angels Mortuary in Grass Valley. a Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Grass Valley. Burial will be private at Forest View Cemetery in Nevada City.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Aug. 4, 1937, to Gilbert Edward McGinn and Marilayne Love Fullmer, he served in the U.S. Air Force and received his doctorate degree in neuroscience. He was a retired professor of otolaryngology at the UC Davis Medical Center and was self-employed as a neurosciences consultant.
His hobbies included hunting and kayaking. He was a board member of the Sacramento Pistol Shooters Association and an active member of the North Valley Shooters Association in Gridley.
He is survived by his daughters, Sarah McGinn of Sacramento and Megan Soracco of Placerville; his son, Ron Colaizzi of Littleton, Colo.; and his life partner, Barbara Marlin of Nevada City.
He is further survived by his brothers, Paul McGinn of Providence Forge, Va.; Russell McGinn, Gregory McGinn, D.C. of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Tom McGinn, D.C., of Milford, Utah; and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817.

McGINNIS
Lawrence Duane McGinnis, Sr.
Lawrence Duane McGinnis Sr. died unexpectedly at his Woodland home on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at age 42.
Born April 26, 1961, * in Castro Valley, Mr. McGinnis had been a Yolo County resident for the past 40 years, where he worked in construction. He moved to Woodland at the age of two, and attended area schools graduating from Woodland High School. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army Special Forces.
Survivors include his son, Lawrence McGinnis Jr. of Rancho Cordova; brothers, Michael and Deborah McGinnis of Woodland, James McGinnis of Rio Dell, Richard Towner of Dunnigan, Larry and Doreen Towner of Esparto, Dakota and Lisa McGinnis of Fortuna, Joe and Nicole McGinnis of Hoopa, John and Erryn McGinnis of Lolita; sisters, Rhonda Uhlrey of Salmon, Idaho, Stephanie Castleberry of West Sacramento, Diana and Dale Meddock of Woodland, Margaret and Mike Morales of Lolita; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dakota, in 2000, Thelma, in 1994; brother, Martin D. McGinnis, in 2001; and nephew, Christopher McGinnis, in 2000.
Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Services of Woodland.
Services: A graveside services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 Co. Rd. 22 in Woodland.
WELLS
Connie Jean Wells
Connie Jean Wells died on Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. She was 57 years old.
Wells was born Aug. 30, 1947, to Harris and Vera (Perkins) Eggleston in Long Beach, where she attended area schools. She lived in Yolo County for the past 29 years and was a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother, her family said.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Ronnie Wells of Woodland; her sons, Eric and Matt Wells of Woodland; her sisters, Vicki Vega of Victorville and Billie Eggleston of Bellflower; a brother, David Eggleston of Bellflower; and her two granddaughters, Jenna and Jennifer Wells.
Services will be private and are under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland. The family asks that donations be made in Wells' name to the American Cancer Society.
WELLS
Donald W. Wells (1st of 2 obits.)
Reverend Donald W. Wells, Pastor Emeritus of the Woodland United Methodist Church, joined our Lord Jesus Christ quietly on March 8, 2006 at the age of 75, surrounded by his family and wife of 55 years, Jeannine Wells. He succumbed after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
He was born in Escalon, Calif. on June 10, 1930 to Orlyn Winfred and Alice Mae Wells. He marriage his best friend and soul mate, Jeannine, in 1950 and they spent the last 23 years of their life together residing in Woodland.
Don actively served the United Methodist Church for the majority of his life. An ordained minister, he served churches at Kerman, Oakland, Sacramento, Salinas and Woodland. In addition, he served many cabinet positions with the church and was District Superintendent of the Sacramento-Nevada Conference. Prior to answering the call into ministry, Don worked in the newspaper industry in Santa Cruz and also served from 1951 to 1954 in the Army military police reserve.
Don will be remembered as a loving, caring father who had a great pride in his immediate family. He touched hundreds of lives in his ministry over the years. A "master of the pun, " his wit added an enlivening moment to the most desperate of situations. An avid life-long baseball fan, he was able to fulfill a dream of visiting all major league baseball parks in the country. In his younger days, he was a hiker, camper, loved to fish, played basketball and baseball, but most of all; he loved vacations and activities with his children. Many of which are memorialized in the thousands of pictures he took over his lifetime during his many travels.
In addition to his beloved wife, Rev. Wells is survived by his daughter Donnine Carey and husband Robert, son Randy Wells and wife Lori, son Rick Wells and wife Helen, and Reverend Jerry Wells and his wife Bonnie. Grandchildren Jennifer and husband Vasilios, Benjamin and wife Angel, Nicole, Sandra, Carey and Jerriann. He was preceded in death by grandson Nathaniel. Don also leaves a brother Duane and wife Sylvia, their children and grandchildren, sister-in-law Kathy Manherz, her children and grandchildren.
Visitation and viewing will be at Kraft Bros. located at 175 Second St., Woodland on Thursday, March 16 from 4 to 8 p.m., across the street from the Methodist church. Memorial services will be held at Woodland United Methodist Church, corner of Second and North streets on Saturday, March 18 at 1 p.m. All are invited to celebrate Don's life with his family.
Donations in memory of Don should be made to Woodland United Methodist Church, St. John's Retirement Village or Yolo Wayfarer Center.
