Phoebe Ellen McGowan
Phoebe Ellen McGowan died Dec. 3, 2004. She was 86.
Friends are invited to a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Friday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1500 Park Blvd. in West Sacramento. Private inurnment is at Monument Hill memorial Park in Woodland.
Born Aug. 13, 1918, she was raised in Sequoia National Park and was a 50-year resident of West Sacramento.
She was a graduate of Stanford University School of Nursing and active in numerous community activities, including East Yolo Friends of the Library, various PTAs, The Order of the Eastern Star, Soroptimist International of West Sacramento and deacon of her church. She was also active with her husband in running the family business, V.C. McGowan Concessions & Capital Speedway.
She was preceded in death by her husband, V.C. "Mac" McGowan.
She is survived by her children, Jane Jenkins and her husband Jeffrey of Sacramento, Mary Sessarego of Folsom, Mike McGowan and his wife Sue of West Sacramento, Virginia McGowan and her husband Mike Goss of Millbrae, Margaret Raley of Folsom, and Nora McDowell and her husband Flynn of Sacramento; her grandchildren, Mia, Katharine, Rebecca, Carrie, Timothy and Katharine Elizabeth; and great grandchildren, Isabella, Phoebe Mae, Linden and McKenna.
She is further survived by her brother, John B. Hardin of Selma, and her sister, Judy A. Jordan of French Camp.
The family wishes to thank Gramercy Court and Dr. Kenneth Weisner for their devoted care.

McGRIFF
Michael Aaron McGriff
Michael Aaron McGriff died Monday, July 12, 2004, at age 48.
Born Dec. 9, 1955, in Woodland, Mr. McGriff was a lifelong resident of Woodland. He graduated from Holy Rosary Academy and Woodland High School. He worked for Yolo County, Department of Employment and Social Services.
Survivors include his brothers, Chris McGriff of Santa Cruz and Dirk McGriff of Woodland; sisters, Erin McGriff of Sacramento and Heather Humphrey of Los Gatos. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard McGriff; and his mother, Mary McGriff.
The family requests memorials be directed to charity of donor's choice, in his behalf.
Services: A celebration of his life is scheduled at noon Saturday, July 17, at Campbell Park, Woodland. Arrangements are under the direction of Neptune Society of California.
McGUINN
Thomas Leo McGuinn
Thomas Leo McGuinn died in Davis Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004 at age 81.
Mr. McGuinn was born Jan. 6, 1923 in Casper, Wyo. to the late Guy and Nettie McGuinn and had been a Yolo County resident for 20 years. He had been employed by UC Davis in the maintenance department for 15 years.
Survivors include Mr. McGuinn's step-daughters, Joneda Cathey, Donella Combs and her husband Donald of Las Vegas, Judy Hamilton, her husband Jack Brickey and Claudette Britton all of Woodland, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Rachel Hamilton McGuinn.
Services: A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Woodland Cemetery. McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
McGUIRE
Mary Louise (Schneider) McGuire
Mary Louise (Schneider) McGuire entered into eternal life on Jan. 22, 2006 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Sept. 15, 1931, in Wewoka, Oklahoma.
Mary’s greatest joy was taking care of her family and home. She felt that raising her family was the most important job bestowed upon her. She and her husband, Audie, lived in Winters from 1950 to 1973.
She was a longtime member of the Assemblies of God Church and her last several years attended Woodland Christian Center.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Audie; daughters, Janis Berry, Margie Washabaugh and her husband, Randy, of Winters, Sheila Carbahal and her husband, Edward, of Winters, and her son Audie Michael McGuire. She will be deeply missed by her seven grandchildren, Jonathan Berry, Natalie and Nathan Washabaugh, Sean and Brandi Carrion, and John and Ryan Carbahal. She is also survived by her four sisters, Lorene Wright, Marie Moore, Myrna Drake, and Carol Bailey, and by her brother, their families. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. at Woodland Christian Center, 441 California Street, in Woodland.

McGUIRE-SMITH
Shirley Josephine McGuire-Smith
Shirley Josephine McGuire-Smith died at her daughter's home in Woodland Sunday, April 10, 2005 at age 74.
Mrs. McGuire-Smith was born May 9, 1930 in Sacramento to Dean and Marie (Cantone) Levra. She attended Sacramento area schools through high school. She was a homemaker for 54 years.
Survivors include Mrs. McGuire-Smith's daughter, Edie Obergon of Woodland; her sons, Jeff McGuire of Woodland, Larry McGuire of Reno and Clifford McGuire of Sacramento; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Smith; her daughter, Tammy Reynolds; her parents, Dean and Marie Levra; her sister, Marion Beck and her brother, Ernie Levra.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. McGuire-Smith's name be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617.
Services: Respecting the wishes of Mrs. McGuire-Smith, private services for the family are scheduled. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Sacramento. Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
McHENRY
W. B. "Jim" McHenry
W. B. "Jim" McHenry died in his Woodland home amongst family Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at age 79.
Born Aug. 5, 1923, in San Jose, Mr. McHenry was the son of Jessie Storrie and Walter Crebbs McHenry. He lived valiantly with Parkinson's disease and cancer. He graduate of San Rafael Military Academy, and Oregon State University in Botany. He completed his U.S. Navy pilot training at the end of World War II. He was an extension specialist in the Department of Botany at UC Davis for 33 years.
Mr. McHenry received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Forest Vegetation Management Conference and was a Fellow of the Western Society for Weed Science. He developed a number of the weed management techniques that are still in use today.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lillian Hosken McHenry; daughters, Lyndie Boulton and husband Roger and Laurie Radcliff and husband Mark; and grandchildren, Katie and Thomas Radcliff and Christina, Andrew and Cameron Boulton.
A private burial will take place at Meadow Valley - close to Mr. McHenry's Bucks Lake cabin.

A memorial service is scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the University Club at UC Davis.
REAVES
Leamon Reaves
Leamon Reaves died at Alderson Convalescent Hospital in Woodland Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at age 85.
Mr. Reaves was born Feb. 2, 1920 in Stonewall, Okla. He had been a Yolo County resident for 37 years. He was a boilermaker in the San Francisco shipyards during World War II. In 1944 he joined the U.S. Navy. After the war he owned and operated several service stations. In 1968 he went to work at the UC Davis garage, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Masons, the Elks and the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include Mr. Reaves' wife of 21 years, Corine; his daughters, Kaye Juhler and her husband Mel and Nita Lloyd and her husband Bill; his stepdaughters, Janet Mitchell, Dorothy and Margaret Bow; his grandchildren, Raymond Juhler, Tami Hesseltine, Beverly Lloyd and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years, Juanita; his parents, Leamon and Fannie Reaves; his brothers, Glenn and T.J. Reaves and his sister, Anna B. Viscount.
The family requests memorial donations in Mr. Reaves' name be directed to Alzheimer's, American Cancer Society and Yolo Hospice.
Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 at the Woodland United Methodist Church, 212 Second St., Woodland with Reverend Doug Johnson officiating. Private burial will be held at the Davis Cemetery. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
