Mildred Leona Waite
Mildred Leona Waite died in Woodland, Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004 at age 90.
Mrs. Waite was born Dec. 6, 1913 in Adin and had been a Yolo County resident for more than 55 years. She assisted her husband, Stuart, when he ran the Yolo County Fair for 25 years. The fair board dedicated Waite Hall on the fairgrounds in appreciation of their efforts.
Survivors include Mrs. Waite's grandson Corey Addison Waite and his wife Victoria, her daughter-in-law Bonni Waite and her great-granddaughters Sarah Sawyer Waite and Emerson Colby Waite. She was preceded in death by her husband Stuart Bruce Waite and son Stuart Bruce Waite, Jr.

SANCHEZ
Grace Castro "Fragoso" Sanchez
Grace Sanchez, passed away in Woodland on Saturday morning, July 17, 1999, at the age of 60 years old.
She was born on December 3, 1938, in Di Giorgio, California, to Bruno and Mary Castro; she was raised in the Lamont area and attended local schools. She graduated from Arvin High School and then attended Bakersfield College. Grace had been a Yolo County resident for 33 years.
She was very instrumental in bringing bilingual education to the Winters School District, where she taught kindergarten for several years. She retired from Yolo County as a court interpreter.
Her greatest love was her grandchildren and participating in their school and sports activities.
She is survived by her children, Yolanda Belmonte and husband Alex, Tim Fragoso and wife Lizz, Mike Fragoso, and Lisa Sanchez-Gonzales and husband Frank; also nine grandchildren, Tim Fragoso, Jr. and mother Henrietta Purser; Christina and Michael Fragoso and mother Rebecca Rhoades; Alex, Lorena and Monica Belmonte, Nick and Isaac Fragoso, and Frankie Gonzales. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Ellen and husband Steve Ornelas; brothers, Pete Castro and wife Dolores, and Conrad Castro and wife Betty, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, July 21, at Kraft Bros. Chapel in Woodland. On Thursday, a second rosary will be held in Bakersfield, at Family funeral Directors, 701 34th Street. A funeral Mass will be held Friday at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 601 East California Avenue, Bakersfield, with funeral to follow at Union Cemetery, King and Potomac, Bakersfield.

MOORE
Patricia D. Moore
Patricia Dudley Moore died Oct. 16, 2000, in Davis after a long illness. Born April 1, 1932, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, she was 68. As an individual who dedicated her life to her family, her community and the arts, she will be deeply missed.
She was born and raised in Ohio. The youngest of four children, she was an exceptionally bright student and went on to receive her bachelor's degree in education from Ohio State University. While there, she met Charles V. Moore, who she marriage on Aug. 28, 1954.
Soon after their marriage, her generous and caring attitude became evident as she took care of Charles' mother, who had suffered from a stroke while he was serving his country overseas in the U.S. Navy. Upon her mother-in-law's successful recovery and Charles' return from the Navy, Pat and Charles decided to raise a family in Ohio, having two sons, Gregory Charles Moore (1956) and Bruce Dudley Moore (1958). In 1959, they moved to Davis, where they had their third child, a daughter, Rachel Suzanne Moore.
Pat and Charles lived in the same house in Davis since 1959, with the exception of two stints overseas, in India and Saudia Arabia. During these overseas excursions, she was responsible for raising the children, including their homeschooling.
She was active in the convergence between family and community, serving the PTA for 17 years, including five years as a board member. She was active in the Davis Parent Nursery School cooperative for four years, including serving as a board member for a year. She was also actively involved in numerous other organizations revolving around her children, including 4-H, Cub Scouts, Campfire Girls and the radical splinter group, the Happy Faces.
She returned to school to receive her master's degree from UC Davis in consumer economics. She subsequently became an organizer of the Davis Consumer Protection Bureau and Gov. Jerry Brown appointed her as the public member of the State of California Wine Grape Growers Advisory Board, which she served on for seven years.
She and friends launched their own business, GrannyPins, which created the GrannyPin Dolls. They later created the GrannyPins "Solar Dryer, " a product that was once featured on Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show." She was also a well-known local landlord.
She was a stalwart supporter of women's issues: She served with the League of Women Voters for 10 years, including three as a board member. She also conducted personal finance courses directed toward single women at the Family Service Agency. She was an organizer of the International Women's Club in Riyadh, Saudia Arabia.
She served a diverse array of organizations and causes. She was involved with the University Farm Circle where she served as the newcomers co-chairman for two years. She served on various city and school bond advisory committees. She also was active at the university, including having served as the chairman of the consumer science graduate group, the dean's committee for consumer science graduate curriculum and the Davis consumers complaint committee.
She may best be remembered as a vocal and active supporter of the arts and her community. She served as a member of the Davis Civic Arts Commission for 10 years and as chair of the Davis Community Performing Arts Pavilion project for four years. She had been intimately involved in public radio as well, having served on the board of directors for KXPR/KXJZ, as well as served as the chair of the Davis Friends of FM 91, for six years.
She was a 30-year member of the Davis Art Center, including six years on the board of directors. She was active in the ballet world, having served as finance chairman for the Theatre Ballet of Sacramento for five years, as well as having served as finance chairman for the Pacific Regional Ballet Festival in 1980.
She is survived by her loving husband, Charles V. Moore of Davis. She is also survived by her children, Bruce D. Moore of Zephyr Cove, Nev., and Rachel S. Moore of Boston; and her sister, Dorthy Reynolds.
She was preceded in death by her son Gregory C. Moore, in 1999.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service Friday at 3 p.m. at the Unitarian Church of Davis, 27074 Patwin Road. Interment will be private. Remembrances may be made in her name to the Sacramento Society for the Blind, 2750 24th St., Sacramento, CA 95818 or to the Unitarian Church of Davis.

Freda Mae Joseph
Freda Mae Joseph died at Stollwood Hospital in Woodland Monday, June 5, 2005 at age 89.
Mrs. Joseph was born May 2, 1916 in Ludlow, Miss. She had been a Yolo County resident for 17 years. She was a housewife and a nurse and had been a member of West Valley Baptist Church. Freda was a beautiful person, loving mother and friend. She loved to play all kinds of games. She truly enjoyed family and friends, cooking, fishing, going to bingo games. She was very active until she broke her hip. Her laughter and sense of humor will be missed by family and all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include Mrs. Joseph's husband of eight years, Leroy Joseph of Woodland; her daughters, Ruby Bartling of Live Oak, Edith Webb of Yuba City, Arlene Daniel of Woodland, Jody Silas of Arkansas and Betty Mangum of Oklahoma; her son, Elmer Tankersley of Minnesota; her grandchildren, Brian Bartling of Colorado, Gary Bartling of New Mexico, Karen Miles, Larry Webb and Grant Webb all of Live Oak, Debra Daniel, Travis Daniel and Roxana Sissom all of Woodland, Larry Tankersley of Wisconsin, Danny Tankersley of Minnesota, Leila Skelton, Darrell Bryant, Vicky Skelton, Wade Bryant, Sherry Howard all of Arkansas and Chad Mangum of Oklahoma; 31 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Ethel Ivy of Arkansas and Edith Patterson of Glendora. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Neilie McKay and her brothers, Charles McKay, Joe McKay and Dewey McKay.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. Joseph's name be directed to Woodland Senior Center, 630 Lincoln Ave., Woodland, 95695.
Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, June 20 at West Valley Baptist Church with Pastor John Evertson officiating. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
JUAREZ-MUNIZ
Lydia Juarez-Muniz
Lydia Juarez-Muniz died in Sacramento Sunday, March 13, 2005 at age 46.
Mrs. Juarez-Muniz was born April 4, 1958 in Woodland. She had been a life-long Yolo County resident. She attended Woodland High School. She worked for Halfmoon Produce for 20 years and was also a homemaker.
Survivors include Mrs. Juarez-Muniz's husband, Martin Galvan; her daughters, Jenny Lopez and Dora Muniz; her son, Ernie Lopez and his wife Kristi; her granddaughters, Celeste and Kianna; her father, Carlos C. Juarez; her sisters, Gloria Suarez and her husband Francisco, Laura Camarena and her husband Alfonso and Eleanor Juarez and her brothers, Joe R. Juarez and his wife Mary Lou and Carlos H. Juarez. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eliza H. Juarez and her brother, Ernesto Juarez.
Services: A vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 16 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
WAKEFIELD
Curtis "Curt" Henry Wakefield
Curtis "Curt" Henry Wakefield died Aug. 29, 2001, in Yuma, Ariz., at the age of 67, with his companion Donna Certain.
Wakefield was born Aug. 15, 1934, in Bellefourche, S.D. On Sept. 26, 1998, he was happy and healthy and a part of his son's wedding as Bill Wakefield took Kristine McCoy to be his wife. His family is saddened that he will miss the birth of his first grandchild.
He is survived by his son, William "Bill" Lester Wakefield; stepchildren Eugene J. Daneau, Patricia L. Lawley and Tina R. Lagomarsino; and stepgrandchildren Eugene III, Michael, Jessica, Debra, Latisha, Amber, Kenneth, Joseph and Sterling.
WALDMAN
Beatrice Waldman
Beatrice Waldman died in Woodland Memorial Hospital Thursday, March 7, 2002, at age 88.
Born Sept. 29, 1913, in Manhattan, N.Y., Mrs. Waldman was the daughter of the late Israel and Alta Stichinsky. She was a homemaker for 60 years.
Mrs. Waldman is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ellen Ward of Woodland; and son, David Mark Waldman of Essexville, Mich.; granddaughters, Jennifer and Rebecca Waldman, also both of Essexville, Mich.; and grandsons, Daniel and Aaron Ward of Woodland.
A private memorial service has been requested by the family.
