Weymouth G. Murray McNeil
Weymouth G. Murray McNeil died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at age 76.
Born Feb. 18, 1927, in Los Angeles, Ms. McNeil was the daughter of Dr. Gordon and Ernestine Wheatley of Woodland. She received a bachelor's degree from Occidental College and an administrative record librarian degree from UC Berkeley. She worked for Woodland Memorial Hospital as in charge of medical records for 27 years. She marriage in 1973 and moved to Waco, Texas. She was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, PEO sorority in California and Waco for 53 years, Ridgewood Country Club and Women's Golf Association.
Survivors include her daughter, Kristeen Murray Wicklund and husband John of Waco; son, Michael G. Murray and wife Jan of San Antonio; granddaughter, Lindsey Murray of San Antonio; grandsons, Shawn and Derek Coleman of Dallas; great-granddaughters, Shyanne and Jillian; and four stepchildren.
The family requests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society; Hillcrest Community Hospice; or the charity of donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home of Waco, Texas.
Services: A memorial service is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco, Texas, with the Rev. Henry Apperson and Sue Wolfe Gohring, Lay Chaplain officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 14, at 3517 O'Brien Circle, Waco.
McWHERTER
Gladys Fern McWherter
Gladys Fern McWherter died in Edmond, Okla. Dec. 20, 2006 at age 79.
Mrs. McWherter was born Dec. 28, 1925 in Woodland to Alvin and Jennie Goette. She had been a Yolo County resident for 76 years. She was raised and educated in Woodland, graduating from Woodland High School in 1944 and moved to Davis in 1947. She was retired from UC Davis as a lab tech. She was a member of Our Faith Lutheran Church in Davis and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Edmond.
Survivors include Mrs. McWherter's husband of 38 years, Robert "Bob" McWherter of Edmond, Okla.; her daughters, Kathy Loeber and her husband Ken of Edmond, Okla. and Jennie Solari and her husband Phil of Powder Springs, Ga.; eight grandchildren; her sisters, Mabel and Esther Davis both of Woodland; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughters, Cynthia and baby sister.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. McWherter's name be directed to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
Services: Services were held Dec. 22 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Edmond, Okla. Interment was at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Okla. The Matthews Funeral Home of Edmond, Okla. assisted the family with arrangements.
MEAGHER
Clifford H. Meagher, Jr.
Clifford H. Meagher Jr. died in Napa on Thursday, March 22, 2001, at age 70.
Born to Clifford H. and Ila M. (Moore) Meagher on Oct. 24, 1930 in Monticello he graduated from Esparto High School in 1948. He graduated from University of the Pacific in Stockton in 1950.
He was employed by Imola State Hospital for 10 years and Queen of the Valley Hospital for the next 35 years as an emergency room medical technician. He loved animals and gardening.
Mr. Meagher is survived by his daughters, Christy and son-in-law Rodney Berg of Soldatna, Alaska; Dawn and son-in-law Elias Lira of Vallejo; sons, Marty and Dennis Meagher of Napa; and Grandsons, Nicolas Berg of Reno, Nevada, Patrick O’Reilly of Napa and Elias Lira of Vallejo.
He is also survived by his sister, Lucille and brother-in-law Pete Lopez of Zamora; and brother, Lawrence Elliot of Anaconda, Montana; niece, Candy and husband David Hatanaka of Esparto; nephew, Howard and wife Bonnie Lopez of Esparto; great-nephews, Kevin and Anthony Lopez and Wayne and Russell Hatanaka, all of Esparto; great-grand-nephew, Michael Lopez of Esparto; and numerous cousins.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, at Richard Pierce Funeral Service, in Napa. Interment followed at Monticello Cemetery at Lake Berryessa.
MEAGHER
William Meagher
Wm. Meagher Prominent Monticello Citizen Dead
William Meagher, prominent business man of Monticello, and rancher of Berryessa Valley, died suddenly Friday night as a result of an apoplectic stroke.
Meagher, with some helpers was roping and branding calves. He had thrown an animal and the helper who was putting on the brand called to Meagher to ease up a bit on the rope and upon looking around saw Meagher lying on the ground near his horse. He was taken to his home, the Harris place, upper end of the valley and Dr. King summoned. He had suffered a stroke of apoplexy and passed away that night.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in the cemetery at Monticello.
Deceased was born in Knoxville, and was past fifty years of age. His had been an active life in the valley. He farmed, conducted the Peacock hotel at Monticello, the resort at Samuel Springs and was one of the leading citizens of the valley. Besides his wife he leaves three daughters and a son. The son is in government service and now located in Japan.

MEANS
Peggy Lee Means
Peggy Lee Means died at Woodland Memorial Hospital Sunday, May 15, 2005 at age 53.
Mrs. Means was born Oct. 26, 1951 in Santa Rosa to James and Mervelyn (Russell) Kelly. She had been a Yolo County resident for 23 years. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1969. She worked for Yolo County in the finance department then later in a clerical position for the city of Woodland in the Police Department and City Hall for 16 years. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Woodland.
Survivors include Mrs. Means' husband of 13 years, Robert Means of Woodland; her parents, James and Mervelyn Kelly of Woodland; her aunts, Carol Ragan and Barbara Weller both of Anaheim; her sister, Kathy Kelly of Davis; her brothers, Tim Kelly of Novato and Dennis Kelly of Woodland; two nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Dan Ragan.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. Means' name be directed to American Diabetes Association, 2720 Gateway Oaks Drive, Suite 110, Sacramento, 95833.

MEDICO
Joseph Medico
Joseph Medico died at Kaiser Hospital in Sacramento on Aug. 27, 2005. A Yolo County resident for the past 34 years, he was 84.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 785 Elmwood Drive in Davis. A funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Interment is at the Davis Cemetery.
Born Nov. 29, 1920, in Hanford to Manuel and Mary (De Faria), he attended local schools prior to entering the U.S. Army. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 and during World War II was stationed in Guam. He was honorably discharged in 1945, having earned the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a carpenter and construction foreman in the San Joaquin Valley prior to moving to Yolo County. During his 32 years in construction, he worked on the Rancho Seco nuclear plant, Veterans' Memorial Center in Davis, Veterans Medical Hospital, and various buildings on the UC Davis campus, including Wellman Hall. He retired in 1987.
He was a member of Carpenters Union local #0046, American Legion Post #77 of Woodland, and a 30-year member of the Davis Dance Club. He was active in the Community Garden of Davis for more than 30 years, and was an avid Cal Aggie fan.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Daniels, Amelda Mashburn and Alice Shorb; and brothers, Louis, Manuel, John, Robert, Marvin, Leslie and Francis Medico.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Illene Medico of Davis; sons, Michael Medico and his wife Diane of Paso Robles, and James Medico and his wife Shannon of Tulsa, Okla.; stepsons, Jim Farmer of Elk Grove, Wesley Blankenship of Arbuckle, and La Var Blankenship of Vallejo; and a sister, Delores Iseley of Texarkana, Texas.
He is further survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Legion Baseball League or UC Davis football scholarship program.

MEDINA
Blas Medina
Blas Medina died July 12, 2004, at Woodland Memorial Hospital. He was 86.
Born Jan. 3, 1918, he was a native of Pascuales, Durango, Mexico, where he grew up and attended high school and college.
Medina lived in Yolo County for the past 50 years, working as a laborer in the agricultural field.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Valente Medina, in 1970 and his sister, Marial Corral, in 1982.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Bertha A. (Flores) Medina of Woodland, and his sister, Celia Medina of Mexico City.
Private interment services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
