Juana Lopez Medina
Juana Lopez Medina died surrounded by her family in her Woodland home Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at age 65.
Born June 22, 1937, in Tapalpa, in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, Mrs. Medina was the daughter of the late Jesus and Filomena (Rodriguez) Medina of Jalisco, Mexico. She had been Yolo County resident for the past 36 years. She was marriage in October of 1965 and made her home in Woodland, where she raised her family. According to her family members, "she loved the family being nearby, gardening, baby-sitting and spending her weekends with her daughters - shopping the malls, trips to the Mendocino coast and sharing special moments together."
Mrs. Medina is survived by her husband of 37 years, Faustino Medina Sr.; sons, Jose Medina and wife Miki, Mario Medina and Faustino Medina Jr. and wife Maria "Lupe"; daughters, Christina Medina, Anna L. Medina and husband Marcos Mata, and Adriana Medina and husband Charles Gray; and godson, Antonio Gonzalez, all of Woodland.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Daniel and Andy Medina, Alexis and Marcos Mata Jr., Jasmine and Charles Gray Jr., and "Cookie" Medina.
The rosary was recited on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland.
A mass is scheduled to be said at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 24, also at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Fr. Francisco Velasquez officiating.
Private interment is scheduled at St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date for family members.
The family requests memorials be directed to Holy Rosary Building Fund, c/o Holy Rosary Pastoral Center, 503 California St., 95695; or the charity of the donor's choice.

MEDINA
Maria Guadalupe Medina
Maria Guadalupe Medina died April 22, 2005, at Sierra Healthcare Center in Davis. She was 73.
A vigil service begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church, 1275 B St. in Davis. A Mass of Christian burial begins at 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment will be at Panteon Municipal de Tala, Jalisco, Mexico.
Born Sept. 20, 1931, in Jalpa, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Salvador and Maria (Cobarrubias) Medina, she moved to Yolo County in 1968 and began work as an agriculture laborer, a job she continued for 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Maria De Jesus Camacho; and a brother, Salvador Camacho.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Pedro Medina; daughters, Maria Robles and Maria Medina of Davis, Maria Del Refugio of Woodland, and Bertha Medina of Dixon; sons, Marcos, Pedro and Salvador Medina of Davis, and Ruben Medina of Woodland; sisters, Graciela, Consuelo, Olivia, and Esther Camacho of Mexico; and a brother, Ruben Camacho of Chicago, Ill.
She is further survived by 31 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
MEDRANO
Hector Medrano
Hector Medrano died in Sacramento at Kaiser Hospital on Thursday, April 18, 2002, at age 53.
Born in La Union, New Mexico, June 13, 1948, Mr. Medrano has been a Woodland resident since he was five months old.
He was employed all his working life in connection with automobiles. Mr. Medrano was a tow truck driver at Frank's Arco for 10 years, after many years as a car salesman at various car dealerships, ending at Chief's Auto parks when he became disabled.
According to his family members "he was the comedian of the family with a quick smile, laugh and a story."
Mr. Medrano is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jeanie Medrano; son, Chris Medrano and wife Jessica, of Roseville; granddaughter Hilary Medrano of Davis, step-granddaughter, Felicia Crittenden of Roseville.
He is also survived by his mother, Ophelia Macias of Davis; sisters, Anna Holguin of Utah and Elizabeth Bohl of Woodland; brothers, Ray Medrano of Orangevale, Mario Macias of Antelope and numerous nephews and nieces, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Pedro and Petra Pererya; father, Edward Macias.
Respecting the wishes of Mr. Medrano, no services were scheduled. The family requests memorials to be directed to the American Diabetic Association.

MEEK
Phyllis Hollingsworth Meek
Phyllis Hollingsworth Meek died in Alderson Convalescent Hospital Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at age 79.
Born Nov. 5, 1919, in Woodland, Mrs. Meek was a lifelong Yolo County resident. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Hazel Hollingsworth. According to her family, "she was a homemaker most of her adult life who enjoyed golfing at the Yolo Fliers club, she loved gardening and was involved with Woodland Pink Ladies Auxiliary." She was also a member of Omega Nu Sorority.
Mrs. Meek is survived by her husband, Jack Meek; daughter, Joan Timothy and husband Randy; sons, John Meek Jr., Thomas Meek, and Stephen Meek and wife Karen; and grandchildren, Matt and Danny Timothy, Kevin, Sam and Maggie Meek, all of Woodland and Jamie Meek of Santa Barbara.
She is also survived by her sisters, Georgene Rietow of Woodland, Louise Zane of Winters, and Ann Sandstrom of Sacramento; brothers, Robert Hollingsworth of Woodland and Jim Hollingsworth of Billingham, Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 21, at Woodland Christian Church, 509 College Street, with the Rev. Bob Neal officiating.
The family requests memorials be directed to charity of the donor's choice.

MELLO
Stanley William Mello
Stanley William Mello died July 19, 2005, in Davis. He was 78.
He was a World War II veteran and loved his country, his family said.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pat Mello; children, Tim Mello of Woodland, Heidi Mello Reed of Winters and Judy Di Benedetto of Halcott Center, N.Y.; sons-in-law Jim Reed Jr. of Winters and Chris Di Benedetto of New York; grandchildren Kelly and Kyle Mello of Woodland, and Elena and Greg Di Benedetto of New York; and his sisters and brothers in Sacramento.
"He loved his children and grandchildren, and was proud of his sons-in-law, " his family said. "We will be with all of us always."
As per his wishes, there will be no funeral or services.
MELLUISH
Robin Rebecca Jessup Melluish
Robin Rebecca Jessup Melluish died at her home in Klamath Falls, Ore. on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at age 57.
Mrs. Melluish was born in Lindsay, and grew up in Orosi before moving to Woodland, where she lived for 16 years before moving to Klamath Falls in 1992.
She worked in banking for 17 years, worked as a legal secretary for three years and also worked for the Oregon State University extension in Klamath Falls.
Survivors include Mrs. Melluish's husband, Kevin Melluish and son Robert Melluish of Klamath Falls; father Fred Jessup and his wife Ginnie, of Visalia; mother-in-law Kathlyn Silva Melluish of Klamath Falls; sisters Mary Darch and her husband John, of Lewisburg, Tenn., Sally Thiessen and her husband Sam, of Kingsburg, Julie Filippi and her husband Robert, of Visalia; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Mrs. Melluish was preceded in death by her mother Rachel Bailey Jessup.
Services: A graveside service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Eternal Hills Memorial Garden, Klamath Falls, Ore.
MENDOZA
Juana Maria Mendoza
Juana Maria Mendoza died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at her home in Knights Landing. She was 62 years old.
Born March 22, 1942, in Mexico, Mendoza lived in Yolo County for more than 41 years and was employed by the Woodland Joint Unified School District for 11 years. She was a member of Yolo County 4-H and an active member of the Knights Landing community through her involvement in fund-raising activities for Grafton Elementary School.
She is survived by her husband, Sabino Mendoza of Knights Landing; her mother, Socorro Cruz of Mexico; children, Maria Hernandez and her husband Misael of West Sacramento; Velia Delgado and her husband Jorge of Woodland; and Ruben Mendoza of Knights Landing.
She is also survived by her sisters, Maria Garcia and her husband Amador of Knights Landing; Irma, Adela, Carmen and Angelica Cruz; all of Mexico; and brothers Javier and David Cruz, also of Mexico. Five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her brother Jesus Cruz in 1974, sister Hortencia Cruz in 1979 and father Francisco Cruz in 1987.
An evening vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St. in Woodland, and a Mass of Christian burial will follow on Wednesday, at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Woodland.
Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Services of Woodland.
