Harold Kloss
Harold Kloss died in Woodland Sunday, April 25, 2004, at age 90.
Born June 5, 1913, in Tulare, S.D., Mr. Kloss had been a Yolo County resident for 25 years. He obtained his master's degree in education in South Dakota. He was an educator and superintendent of schools for 35 years. During his retirement, he traveled with his wife and was a volunteer with Woodland Health Care Auxiliary.
Survivors include his children, Patrice White and husband Bruce of Davis, Reba Ranazzi and husband John of Roseville, Luzanne Martin and husband John of Woodland, Karen Hopkins and husband Layne, and Faye Miller and husband Don, all of Minnesota; grandchildren, Adam and Aaron of Davis, Alex of Roseville, Samuel of Woodland, Ranae Lacey of Minnesota, and Julie Tow and Sharie Barr of Minnesota; and four great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Kloss, in 1994.
The family requests memorials be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95616. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.
Services: Services are scheduled for Monday, May 3, in South Dakota.
KLOSTER
Marjorie Madden Kloster
Longtime Davis resident Marjorie Madden Kloster died Feb. 28, 2005, in Davis. She was 85 years old.
A native of Dixon, she was the daughter of Angus Madden and Grace King Madden, two of Dixon's pioneer founding families with roots back to the 1800s. She attended Dixon schools, UC Berkeley and UC Davis.
She marriage Burt Kloster and the family settled in Davis in 1952. Their son Paul was born in 1949 and daughter Rebecca in 1953. The family worked in the farming business throughout the 1950s. In 1963, she and her husband established Kloster Realty. She was active in local business and community affairs for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burt M. Kloster, in 1997; and her daughter, Rebecca M. Kloster, in 2001.
She is survived by her son, Paul M. Kloster, and her grandson, Jack M. Kloster, both of Davis.
KLUSMAN
Mary Klusman
Mary Klusman died in The Californian Retirement Residence, Woodland Saturday, May 4, 2002, at age 96.
Born July 14, 1915, in Alabama, Mrs. Klusman was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. James Wiggins. She moved to New Mexico with her family when she was three years old. She was raised in Estancia, N.M., and graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1936. She moved to Woodland with her husband Ted and their children Phil and Ann in 1960. She was a homemaker and mother and was active in the United Methodist Church of Woodland and St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was captain of the 18-hole ladies golf league at the Yolo Flier's Club.
Mrs. Klusman is survived by her husband Ted Klusman of Woodland; daughter, Ann Santoni and husband Gary of Muncie, Ind.; grandsons, Matthew Santoni and wife Allyson of Washington, D.C., Michael Santoni and wife Meredith of St. Louis, Mo. and Robby Santoni of Muncie, Ind.; and great-grandchildren, Corey, Hannah and Sean Santoni of St. Louis, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Klusman and two brothers, Bennett and Joe Wiggins.
Visitation is scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, in McNary's Chapel.
A funeral service is scheduled at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 9, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cottonwood Street at Gibson Road, with Pastor Hank Scherer officiating. Interment to follow at Monument Hill Memorial Park.

KLUTSENBAKER
Pat Klutsenbaker
Pat Klutsenbaker passed away peacefully Feb. 8, 2005 at her home in Woodland.
Beloved mother of Sharon DaVeiga-Ward of Tampa, Fla. Cherished grandmother of Patti Williams and her husband Allan of Rio Linda and Lorena Brady and her husband Ronnie of Charleston, S.C.; loving great-grandmother of Luke Hand-Brady and Zachary Brady. Dearest sister of Noel Devereux and Elizabeth Bullock both of Downey and the late Clara Jean Tully, Shirley West, Maurice Devereux, Thomas Devereux and Jack Devereux; loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Born to J.M. Devereux and Louise Racette Devereux in Ladysmith, Wis., she was the seventh of eight children. The Devereux family later moved to California.
Pat was proud to be the secretary to the Base Commander at McClellan AFB, Sacramento for a number of years. She later moved to Woodland where she resided for more than 40 years. Her interests included gardening, cooking, baking, fishing and sports. She especially loved golf and tennis, and was a member of the Yolo Fliers Club, where she played golf frequently. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Woodland V.F.W. and recently was awarded lifetime membership.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Star Donor-Processing Center, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, N.H. 03086-0918.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at the V.F.W. Hall No. 1985, 345 W. Kentucky Ave. Woodland.
KNABKE
Josephine Knabke
Josephine Knabke passed away at her home in Winters on Dec. 14, 2000, after a brief illness. She was born on Feb. 10, 1917 in Great Falls, Montana, and has been a resident of Winters since 1977. Formerly of Sunnyvale, she was the wife of the late William H. Knabke for 58 years, who preceded her in death in February of this year.
Growing up as a young girl, she had to leave school in the tenth grade to care for her ill mother and assist in raising her siblings, but this formed a very care-giving person, which was to follow her the rest of life resulting in a community and church caregiver.
She was an accomplished lady who enjoyed and had the ability to review art and had a good eye for doing arts and crafts and floral designs. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling worldwide and were able to walk on the Great Wall. Mrs. Knabke was a faithful member of St. Anthony Church. She loved and enjoyed her family.
She is survived by three sons, Bill and John Knabke of Winters, and Jim Knabke of Clovis; a brother, John Bucher of Napa, sister, Rose Knabke of Galt; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial Mass was held on Monday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Church in Winters. Inurnment will be made with her late husband in the Winters Cemetery at a later date.

KNADLE
Janet Knadle
Janet Knadle died Aug. 19, 2005, at the age of 88. To celebrate her life, a memorial service followed by a buffet lunch will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 640 Hawthorn Lane.

She was born July 6, 1917, at the only hospital that served Wahpeton, N.D. During the Depression, she went to nursing school in Fargo, N.D., and afterward accepted an internship at Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C., so she could live close to her older brother and his friend, Edward J. Knadle.
The two men had learned shorthand in order to get federal government jobs as secretaries for lawyers, while going to law school at night. She and Edward were marriage Jan. 27, 1940. Together they had three children, Susan, Robert and Roger.
She practiced pediatric nursing for almost 30 years, including eight years as a visiting public health nurse in the poor sections of Washington, D.C., and 15 years in a clinic for children of Public Health Service and Coastal Guard personnel.
She enjoyed caring for her family and nursed her husband through Guilliam-Barre syndrome. Between her work and family, she also found time to be a seamstress and antique collector.
After her husband died in 1997, she moved to Davis to be with her daughter's family.
Her family will remember her for her ability to accept life's hard times without complaint, to love people and want to help them, and to make people feel good when her eyes twinkled and her smile was for them. They will also remember the joy she found in children.
Her family is grateful for the wonderful caregivers and friends at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, University Retirement Community, Astoria Vista, Sutter Davis Hospital and Courtyard Healthcare Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Knadle who died in 1997; and her son, Robert Knadle, who was posthumously awarded the Silver Star for bravery in Vietnam. In his honor, a four-story brick officers' billet at Fort Belvoir was named Knadle Hall.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Knadle Salocks and her husband Charles of Davis; and her son, Roger M. Knadle of Washington, D.C.
She is further survived by three grandchildren, Janamarie Knadle Salocks of Davis, and Kerrie and Robert Knadle of Maryland; one step-grandchild, William Frost, who is deployed to Iraq; and two "adopted daughters, " a niece, Sally Hausken of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Carrye Cooper of Redondo Beach.

KNICKELBEIN
Sylvia Harriet Knickelbein
Sylvia Harriet Knickelbein died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Stollwood Hospital in Woodland, at age 89.
Born in Oshkosh Wisconsin on Dec. 18, 1913, Mrs. Knickelbein was an avid landscape artist and enjoyed church and choir work and was an enthusiastic ice skater and swimmer.
She is survived by her husband, Sherman Knickelbein of Woodland; sons, Michael Knickelbein of Walnut Creek, and Mark Knickelbein of Oak Park Illinois.
She is also survived by her daughter, Gayle Taylor of San Francisco and brother, Robert Reif of Oshkosh Wisconsin.
