Alice S. Clark
Alice Sandell Clark died on Feb. 14, 2000, in Woodland. Born on Nov. 24, 1922, in Oneonta, N.Y., to Harold Sandell and Gertrude Northrop Sandell, she was 77.
After high school graduation, she went to work, first as a secretary in a law office and then a bank. At the age of 41, she began taking classes part-time at the State University of New York at Oneonta and then took a job there as secretary of the science department in order to have a better opportunity to take classes.
She graduated first in her class from the university and received a scholarship to the library school at SUNY, Albany. Upon receiving her master's degree of library science, she taught at the library school before leaving to take a job as a library administrator at Ohio State University.
She later became the assistant director of libraries at the University of New Mexico and upon her retirement was the acting director.
During this period, on her vacations, she took classes at SUNY, Oneonta, and earned a master's degree in history, writing her thesis on Wallace Nutting. She also authored several books and articles on library science.
She particularly enjoyed working with and mentoring young librarians. She was very involved in campuswide issues and was honored for her work in increasing access for disabled students.
When she retired, a room at the main library at Ohio State University was named in her honor.
She then moved to Davis and lived in the core area for 12 years, where she enjoyed gardening and going for walks with her dog, Penny. She was a member of Davis Community Church. She loved traveling with her friends and did so often.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn, and former husband, Dewey Clark Jr.
She is survived by her two sons, Peter Clark of Cooperstown, N.Y., and his wife Mary, and Bruce Clark of Winters and his wife Judith; two grandchildren, Seth and Molly Clark of Oneonta, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Rosamond Collins of New York; nephews, Terry Collins, Scott Collins, Emil Reynolds, Mack Reynolds and Mark Polk; niece, Laverne Land; and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
Private services are planned.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the SPCA or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Betty Louise Clark
Betty Louise Clark of Yuba City died at Prestige Assisted Living in Marysville on Monday, Jan. 30, 2006 at age 76.
Mrs. Clark was born Sept. 12, 1929 in Gordon, Neb. She had been a resident of the Yuba-Sutter area for 60 years. She was a homemaker and a member of New Life Assembly of God Church of Marysville.
Survivors include Mrs. Clark's daughters, Cherry L. Hahn and April L. Shirley, both of Yuba City, Tina D. Blenn of Gridley and Linda A. Phillips of Woodland; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Barbara Cleary, Donna L. Pipkin and Anna L. Ryan, all of Wenatchee, Wash. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bud D. Clark and her sister, Elynore Lumbaugh.
Services: Respecting the wishes of Mrs. Clark, private services for family will be held. Inurnment will be at Sutter Cemetery in Sutter. Ullrey Memorial Chapel Inc. of Yuba City is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dennis Wayne 'DC' Clark
Dennis Wayne "DC" Clark died in Rio Linda, Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004 at age 56.
Mr. Clark was born April 22, 1948 in Woodland.
Survivors include Mr. Clark's children, Jaesea and Faron Clark; his nephew Eric Bell and his partner Lynn Canafax.
Donations in Mr. Clark's name may be made to the Sacramento SPCA.
His cremains will be scattered off the coast of Bodega Bay.
Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 16, in Rio Linda.

Dennis Wayne "DC" Clark entered into eternal rest Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004 at age 56.
DC was a native of Woodland, born April 22, 1948, and most recently a resident of Rio Linda.
DC was the father of Jaesea and Faron Clark, beloved uncle of Eric Bell and loving friend and partner of Lynn Canafax.
He will be deeply missed by his family and many, many friends.

Dorothy Margaret Wilkin Clark
Dorothy Margaret Wilkin Clark died Nov. 11, 2005, in Fresno. She was 86 years old.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Clarksburg Community Church. Born May 30, 1919, in Pittsburgh to Fred and Edith Wilkin, she was the eldest of four children. She started school in Pittsburg in a one-room school and graduated from San Juan High School in Orangevale in 1936.
She was marriage in 1938 to William Justin Clark, to whom she was a faithful wife for 56 years. She worked for much of her life, and retired from UC Davis in 1978.
She is survived by her two sons, James Clark of Hanford and Richard Clark of Davis; her sister, Joyce Quilling of Bakersfield; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Justin; her only daughter, Carol Ann Bonner of Sonora; her brother, Fred Wilkin; and her sister, Edith Meade, both of Orangevale.
Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Elsie G. Clark
Elsie G. Clark died on Jan. 11, 2000, in Davis. Born on June 30, 1901, in Iowa, she was 98.
She moved to California with her family and attended school here, receiving her registered nursing degree in 1923. In 1925, she marriage D.G. Clark, M.D., and lived as a homemaker and community volunteer for 60 years in Santa Paula.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter, Nancy C. Kelson.
She is survived by her son, R.G. Clark, M.D.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Her memory and devotion will be cherished by her family.

Hazel N. Clark
Hazel Norine Clark died April 30, 2001. Born in Esparto on Jan. 16, 1918, to the late Charles and Maud Mack, she was 83.
She a was a lifelong resident of Yolo County. She attended schools in Esparto and graduated from Esparto High School in 1936. She was a homemaker all of her adult life. She loved to cook and work in her garden.
She is survived by her daughter, Gilda McElroy, and husband, Pete, of Salmon, Idaho; grandchildren Steven Ray and wife, Karen, of Salmon, Idaho; Bobby Ray and wife, Marci, of Woodland; Robby Ray and wife, Rena, of Capay; and Shauna Smith and husband, Dan, of Colorado; as well as seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mabel Lipelt of Woodland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert L. Clark in 1983 and son, Richard Clark in 1999.
A graveside service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the Capay Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.

James E. Clark Sr.
Services for James E. Clark Sr.
Graveside services were held Wednesday at the Winters Cemetery for James E. Clark Sr. who died Oct. 13, 1990, at Sutter Davis Hospital after a short illness.
He was born in North Dakota on Oct. 14, 1928, and worked as a painting contractor in the Bay Area for 20 years. He retired in 1976 and then moved to Davis.
He is survived by a son, James E. Clark Jr. of Davis; two daughters, Deanie Hutton of Winters and Suzie Wood of Sacramento; and five brothers, Dale of Torrance, David of Mission Viejo and Danny, Johnny and Willie, all of Washington.
He is also survived by four grandchildren: Cierra Murray-Clark, Samantha Hutton, Jessica Wood and Deanie Wood.
