Joanne A. Cuellar
Mrs. Joanne A. Cuellar passed away on April 9, 2006 at the age of 96 in Vacaville. Mrs. Cuellar was born in Vacaville and worked as a homemaker for 65 years. She enjoyed cooking and was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Winters. Mrs. Cuellar is survived by her sons Manuel Jr. Cuellar and his wife Patricia of Dayton, Nevada, Joseph E. Cuellar and his wife Josephine of Vacaville, and Paul Cuellar of Sacramento; as well as six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Manuel P. Cuellar, whom she marriage in Winters in 1935.
A Catholic Prayer Service, officiated by Father Michael McFadden at McCune Garden Chapel, was held on April 12 at 1 p.m. in Mrs. Cuellar’s memory. The service was followed by a burial in Vacaville’s Elmira Cemetery.
CUELLAR
Manuel P. Cuellar Sr.
Manuel P. Cuellar Sr. passed away on Dec. 26, 1999 in Davis. Born on Feb. 16, 1903 in Granada, Spain, he was 96 years old.
Mr. Cuellar was a resident of Winters for the last 30 years, and he was a former resident of Vacaville. He worked as a foreman at the DiGiorgio Fruit Corp. for 27 years.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joanne "Jennie" Altieri Cuellar of Winters; Children, Manual and Patricia Cuellar of Auburn, Joseph and Josephine Cuellar of Vacaville and Paul Cuellar of Sacramento; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Antoinette Spaner of Indiana and Lucille Maglio of California.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville. Interment took place at the Vacaville Elmira Cemetery.
CUEVAS
Maria Guadalupe Cuevas
Maria Guadalupe Cuevas died in Indio, Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, at age 55.
Born Oct. 10, 1947, in Pharr, Texas, Mrs. Cuevas had been a Yolo County resident for 26 years. She was a school bus driver.
Survivors include her sons, Juan Martin Cuevas of Vacaville, Luis Martin Cuevas of Moreno Valley, David Cuevas, also of Moreno Valley, and Tomas Cuevas of Indio; sisters, Connie Martin of Washington, Linda Schaupp of Woodland, and Annie Fox of Everett, Wash.; brothers, Ramiro Santillan of Woodland, Carlos Santillan of Esparto, Ruben Santillan of Seaside and Joe Santillan of Woodland; mother, Juanita Santillan, also of Woodland; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family requests memorials be directed to Casillas Family Funeral Home of Coachella, (760) 398-1536, which is also assisting the family with arrangements.
Services: Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at Casillas Family Funeral Home of Coachella.
CULLEY
Lizella Ruth Culley
Lizella Ruth Culley died in Jefferson Manor in the Dallas, Ore. Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at age 90.
Born Nov. 24, 1911, in Elk City, Okla., Mrs. Culley was the daughter of the late Andrew and Bertha Fender. She was a Woodland resident for 48 years and attended the First Baptist Church. Some people known her as Zella. She moved to Dallas on March 29, 1997 to live with her daughter and son-in-law until she became a resident at Jefferson Manor in Sept. of 2001. She marriage her husband in Kansas. They made their first home in Osage City, Kan., where their first son was born. They moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where their daughter and two other sons were born. According to her family members, "she enjoyed her church activities. She also enjoyed her home and family."
Mrs. Culley is survived by her children, Keith Culley of Monmouth, Ore., Glenna Davis of Dallas, Ore, Gary Culley of Port Orford, Ore., and Larry Culley of Coquille, Ore.; sister, Bonnie Woods of Sacramento; brothers, Floyd and Richard Fender of Garden Grove; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Culley; and her sister.
A funeral service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 15, at the First Baptist Church in Woodland. Visitation will be held at the Dallas Mortuary Chapel in Dallas, Ore.

John Cullivan
John Cullivan dies at 83
John Cullivan died at Alderson's Convalescent Hospital in Woodland on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 1991. A native of Sacramento, he was 83 years of age.
Mr. Cullivan was a prison guard for the State of California penal system for 20 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Donaldson of Winters; sons, Jim Cullivan of Sacramento; and Dennis Cullivan of North Carolina; granddaughters, Heather Washborn of Vacaville, Stephanie Cullivan of Alaska, Dawn Manas of Winters, and Jennifer Cullivan of Woodland; and grandson, Dennis Donaldson of Okinawa.
A private memorial service will be held in Winters.

CULTON
Carroll S. Culton
Services held for Carroll Culton
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Carroll Sharshel Culton, 99, in the Pioneer Presbyterian Church. Burial followed in the Winters Cemetery.
Mr. Culton died Sunday, December 20, 1987 in Sacramento. A native of Winters, he was born June 21, 1888, the son of Rev. and Mrs. H.C. Culton. Carroll was the last of nine children born to the Cultons.
He is survived by his son, C. Sharshel Culton Jr., a retired Sacramento teacher; a daughter, Mary Culton Keep of Woodburn, Oregon; a son in-law, Ralph L. Keep; a daughter in-law, Bertha C. Culton; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. His wife, the late Bernice Edwards Culton, preceded him in death.
A veteran of World War I, Culton worked for the City of Sacramento as chief cashier prior to his retirement.
CULTON
Carroll S. (Sarshel) Culton, Jr.
Carroll S. (Sarshel) Culton, Jr., passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, in Sacramento, after a short bout with acute myelocytic leukemia.
Born on May 23, 1922, he was 83 years old.
A third generation Californian, he was the oldest child of Carroll S. Culton, Sr. and Mary Bernice (Edwards) Culton.
He was raised in Winters, Yolo County and lived in California all his life, the last 53 years in Sacramento.
He graduated from Winters High School in 1940, and attended Sacramento City College.
During World War II, he served as a civilian employee at Mather AFB, rigging and outfitting the B-25 bombers that participated in the famous Gen. Jimmy Doolittle raid.
Later he worked in the hospital helping recovering veterans with occupational therapy.
He was awarded a Civilian Service Medal.
After the war, he returned to college, graduating from San Diego State.
He taught in California schools for 31 years, 26 as a teacher in the Sacramento City Unified School District.
He taught adult night school for 16 years.
He was an artist, floral designer, and an avid collector of antiques.
He was responsible for the design and construction of several prize-winning floats entered in Sacramento’s Camellia Parades on behalf of the school where he taught.
He spent countless hours creating works of art in needlepoint.
In his retirement years, he became very involved in national political issues, corresponding with and supporting several political action committees and associations.
He lovingly served the Lord both in his public life as a teacher and in his private life among his family and friends.
He wad dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Bertha Chadwick Culton; sister Mary Keep; children, Paul, Steven, Deborah (Culton) Miller, and Robert; grandchildren, Patrick Murray, Rebekah O’Neill, Elisabeth Culton, Stacey Petteys, Stephanie Culton, Steven Culton, Jr., Molly Culton, Corey Culton, Braxton Miller, Katherine Miller, Andrea Austin, Whitney Austin, Daniel Austin, Michael Culton, Amanda Culton and Joshua Culton; great-grandchildren, Bradly O’Neill, Jordan Petteys and Jack Petteys.
Viewing was held on Monday, Nov. 21. Private interment was held on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Winters Cemetery.
Following interment, friends were invited to attend a memorial service at Pioneer Presbyterian Church, in Winters.
Remembrances may be made in his name to Pioneer Presbyterian Church.
