CARBONI

Barbara 'Bobi' Jean (McKinney) Moritz Carboni

Barbara "Bobi" Jean (McKinney) Moritz Carboni passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, Valentine's Day in Auburn.

She was the oldest of seven children. She grew up in Esparto, and graduated from Esparto High School.

Bobi is survived by her eight children, Frank Jr. Merritt and wife Sarah of Woodland, Francis Marie Wright and husband Michael, Sumer Dawn, Dakota and Tara Carboni of Sacramento, Jason and Matthew Carboni of Olivehurst, and Robi Carboni of Santa Rosa; grandchildren, Edwin, Mason, Andrew and Bryce; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Parents are Rodney and Janet Moritz now residing in Missouri. Brothers are Michael McKinney of Woodland, Thomas McKinney of Idaho, and Joe Moritz and wife Leah of Sacramento. Sisters are Liz Contreras and husband Raymond of Woodland, Cathy McKinney of Woodland, and Anna Moritz of Oregon.

Contribution may be made to Loaves and Fishes. She will be missed dearly.

Services was held Monday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. at Loaves and Fishes, 1321 North C Street, Sacramento.

CARDENAS

Vincent F. Cardenas

Vincent Franco Cardenas of Woodland died May 20, 2002, at Sutter Davis Hospital. He was 46.

He was born in Woodland on Nov. 5, 1955, to Ascension Cardenas and the late Manuel Cardenas. He was a lifelong resident of Woodland.

He was a truck driver, and last worked for Topete Trucking. He loved to travel and he collected miniature sailboats.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Manuela Cardenas.

He is survived by his mother, who lives in Woodland; sisters, Mary Reyna of Gridley and Susan Cardenas of Woodland; nieces, Mary Reyna of Woodland, Aurora Betancourt of Richmond and Manuela Reyna of Oakland; nephews, Adalberto Betancourt of Richmond and Israel Anaya of Woodland; uncle, Robert Macias and his wife Mela of Woodland; and aunt, Katie Macias of Woodland.

He is also survived by numerous other family and friends.

A vigil will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Holy Rosary Church, 503 California St., Woodland. The funeral mass will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Holy Rosary Church, with interment following at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

CARINIO

Jimmy C. Carinio

Jimmy C. Carinio died unexpectedly Monday, July 29, 2002, at age 58.

Born Jan. 6, 1944, in the Philippines, Mr. Carinio was the son of Modesta (Ngayan) Carinio and the late Narciso Carinio. He was a Woodland resident for 34 years. He was employed at California Cascade for the past four years as a custodian. He attended church at the Kingdom Hall in Yolo. According to his family members, "he was an avid fisherman and played the harmonica and accordion."

Mr. Carinio is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Carinio and Clifford Carinio and fiancé Jessica Ogne of Woodland; daughter, Rowenalynn Carinio of Woodland; brothers, Francisco Carinio and wife Dorotea and Fred Carinio and wife Zennie, all of Woodland; sisters, Lolita Carinio and Ulpiana Angel and husband Benjamin, all of Zamora.

A vigil service is scheduled at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland.

The funeral mass is scheduled to be said at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Holy Rosary Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland, with interment to follow at Monument Hill Memorial Park, Woodland.

McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.

CARINIO

Modesta "Moding" Ngayan Carinio

Modesta "Moding" Ngayan Carinio died at her home in Zamora Monday, May 2, 2005 at age 96.

Mrs. Carinio was born Nov. 2, 1908 in Navotas, Laoag City, Philippines. She had been a Yolo County Resident for 39 years. She was a housewife.

Survivors include Mrs. Carinio's daughters, Lolita Carinio and Ulpiana Angel; her sons, Francisco and Alfred Carinio; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Narciso Carinio; her sons, Primo and Jimmy Carinio; her parents, Prospero and Delfina Carinio and her brothers, Tiburcio, Agapito, Vivencio and Joe Carinio.

Services: A rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 11 at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. A Mass of Christian burial will celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 12 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland with interment to follow the service at St. Joseph's Cemetery. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

CARLSON

Denice A. Carlson (1st of 2 obituaries)

Denice A. Carlson, born June 17, 1956 went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2005, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Denice had a warm smile and was loved by all who knew her. Denice was born in Kansas City, Kansas on June 17, 1956, and moved to Woodland at the age of two weeks.

She was raised in Woodland and spent her childhood as an active member in the Young Life Groups.

After graduating in 1974 she marriage and became an Army wife, traveling extensively and spending many years in Germany.

She was active in various churches where she was known as Miss Denice to the many children she taught in Sunday school.

Not only did she teach young children in Sunday school, she also spent many years home schooling her own children.

After moving to and making her life in Denton, she became very involved in the Southmont Baptist Church where she was employed for many years as the Church Secretary.

Denice was a loving mother who is survived by her two children, daughter Nichole Duke and her husband Lynn, and son Grant Carlson both of Denton, Texas.

She is also survived by her parents Harold and Betty Roberts of Paradise, sister Darla O'Shea and husband George of Denton, Texas, stepsister Phyllis Deats and husband Ed of Sacramento, Kelly Yasbeck and Gary of Sacramento, stepbrother Les Roberts of Woodland and her uncles Eugene Crowdis and wife Betty of Richardson, Texas, Donald Crowdis and wife Siri of Springlake, N.C., Russell Crowdis and wife Margaret of Ft. Worth, Texas and Edward Crowdis of Ft. Worth, Texas, and also a niece and four nephews.

Her extended family includes a young man named Marcus French, who she loved like a son, and his wife Jennifer.

Denice was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father, John Moffett and her older sister Deborah Ann Snow.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Southmont Baptist Church, 2801 Pennsylvania Drive, Denton, Texas with Dr. Larry Reynolds, officiating.

Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Memorials may be donated to Southmont Baptist Church Children's Ministries.

Worth, Texas and Edward Crowdis of Ft. Worth, Texas; a niece; four nephews; and Marcus French and his wife Jennifer.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Moffett; her sister, Deborah Ann Snow and her grandparents.

The family requests memorials in Mrs. Carlson's name be directed to Southmont Baptist Church Children's Ministries, 2801 Pennsylvania Drive, Denton, Texas 76205.

Services: A funeral service was held June 11 at Southmont Baptist Church in Denton, Texas with Dr. Larry Reynolds officiating.

Burial was at Roselawn Memorial Park.

CARLSON

Syril Harriett Carlson

Syril Harriett Carlson of Davis died peacefully on April 25, 2005, in the care of her family, Yolo Hospice and the nursing staff at University Retirement Community in Davis. She was six days short of her 87th birthday.

A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at University Retirement Community, 1515 Shasta Drive.

Born Syril Harriet Roseberg in Toronto, Canada, on May 1, 1918, she was raised in Cleveland, Ohio, by her parents, David and Tillie Roseberg. She attended Case Western Reserve in Ohio, majoring in biochemistry.

She met and marriage Sanford Zeiger in 1941 in Cleveland. The young couple moved to Los Angeles and had three children, Elaine, Richard and Spencer.

She worked in the medical field most of her life, first as a laboratory technician and medical assistant. She moved to Marin County in 1967 and lived there for more than 25 years. While in her 60s, she returned to school, earning a bachelor's degree from Dominican College in Marin County and a master's degree in psychology and education from the Wright Institute in Berkeley.

After obtaining her marriage and family therapy license, she joined Family Service of Marin County, launching their gerontology program. She continued to work with senior citizens after she moved to Davis in 1995.

She remained active with seniors all of her life and volunteered with residents in the skilled nursing and assisted living units at University Retirement Community.

Active in the arts, she supported local art and music programs, and frequently hosted events in her North Davis home for UC Davis arts programs.

She was preceded in death by three husbands, Sanford Zeiger, Samuel Futterman and R. Lee Carlson.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Lockhart-Mummery of Los Angeles; son Richard Zeiger and his wife Jane of Davis; and son Spencer Zeiger of Anchorage, Ala.

She is further survived by her grandchildren, Matthew, Aaron, Sarah, Benjamin, Henry and Moses.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Yolo Family Service Agency, 455 First St., Woodland, CA 95695.
