John R. Carrion, Jr.
John R. Carrion Jr. died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at age 86.
Born April 3, 1918, in Vacaville, Mr. Carrion was the son of the late John Sr. and Antonia Carrion. He was a Woodland resident and a longtime Arbuckle resident. He worked at Mare Island as a crane rigger. He and his wife moved to Arbuckle where they raised almonds. Upon retiring from farming, he went to work for the Arbuckle School District. Later, he and his wife relocated to Woodland. He was a member of the Arbuckle Masonic Lodge 182 and the Odd Fellows.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Julie Carrion of Woodland; sons, Allen Carrion of Arbuckle, and Richard Carrion of Sacramento; brothers, Ted and Alfonzo Carrion, both of Woodland, Willie Carrion of Florida, and Frank Carrion, also of Woodland; uncle, Joe Garrido of Arbuckle; grandchildren, Jan, Bryan, David, Anthony, and Jonathon Carrion; great-grandchildren, Brad Long, Trevor Kilgore, Nikki Carrion, Jenna Kilgore, and Osten Carrion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials be directed to the charity of donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary-Moore Funeral Service of Colusa.
Services: Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 19, at McNary-Moore Funeral Service of Colusa. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 20, at the Arbuckle Methodist Church. Burial to follow in the Arbuckle Cemetery.
CARRION
Julia Machado Carrion
Julia Machado Carrion passed away at Alderson Convalescent Hospital in Woodland on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004 at age 85.
Mrs. Carrion was born March 17, 1919 in Winters at Sky High Ranch in the Olive District. She was a Woodland resident and a former Arbuckle resident. As a young girl she loved to read and take long walks. She collected glass birds and dolls as a hobby. She enjoyed her yard, with many camellias and roses.
Julia marriage John R. Carrion, Jr. of Winters on Sept. 26, 1941. She worked at Mare Island during World War II as a riveter with her sister Connie. From there, they moved to Arbuckle, where they farmed almonds for many years. Later she took a job at the Arbuckle School District until she retired, at which time they moved to Woodland. She was very active in Eastern Star and the Rebekahs, which she enjoyed very much.
She is survived by her sons Allen Carrion and his wife, Barbara, of Arbuckle, and Richard Carrion, of Sacramento; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters Carmen Borden, of Vacaville, Toni Ishtertz, of Woodland and Marian Kammerer, of Winters; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Carrion, Jr. and her sisters, Frances Ramos, Mary Ramos, Lola Ramos and Connie Azuar.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 21. A funeral was held on Monday, Nov. 22, at Arbuckle Methodist Church. Interment followed at the Arbuckle Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the charity of the donor's choice.
McNary-Moore Funeral Service of Colusa assisted the family with arrangements.
CARROLL
George L. Carroll
George L. Carroll of Baker City died after a five-month illness Friday, July 19, 2002, at age 77.
Born Sept. 29, 1924, in Oklahoma City, Okla., Mr. Carroll moved to Baker City with his family when he was seven years old. He attended Baker schools and joined the Navy during World War II. He marriage Mary Williams on Feb. 17, 1946, in the old Christian Church in Baker City. They had four children and raised their family in Esparto. He was a meat cutter by trade. He retired in 1986 after working 25 years in the same market. He and Mary moved back to Baker City in July 1992.
Mr. Carroll is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Carroll; daughters, Maggie Emmett and husband Ken of Idaho, Patti Carroll of Sacramento and Dolores Carroll of Baker City; son, James of San Diego; grandchildren, Kathleen Arenas and husband Antonio, Robert Carroll and Laura Carroll, all of Baker City, Kristen Carroll of Vacaville, and Danielle Yates and husband Dave of Sacramento; and three great-grandchildren.
A private family graveside service was conducted at Mount Hope Cemetery.

WOODLAND (Yolo Co.), July 16, 1917 - The remains of Miss Hazel CARROLL, who died here Saturday, will be buried
to-day at 5 o'clock. Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Carroll. She had been ill for several months.

Margaret M. Carroll
Margaret M. Carroll died in Capay Valley Thursday, May 1, 2003, at age 92.
Born April 2, 1911, in Butte, Mont., Mrs. Carroll was the oldest of four children. She graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula and taught high school English in Montana until her marriage to Edward Carroll in 1940. They moved to Ventura where her husband started his medical practice and lived there from 1940 to 1988. They moved in Santa Rosa in 1988. She lived at Oakmont Gardens for 10 years before moving to Capay Valley in 1998.
Survivors include her children, Greta Taber and husband Harmon of Capay, Hugh Carroll of Los Angeles, Nadene Carroll and husband Ron of Santa Rosa, and Jerome Carroll and wife Jeanne of Dover, N.J.; grandchildren, Brook Carroll of Los Angeles, Erin Carroll of San Luis Obispo, Victoria Drake of San Luis Obispo, Elizabeth Drake of Santa Rosa, and Jamie, Jonathan and Jennifer Carroll of Dover, N.J.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials be directed to Esparto Library, 17155 Yolo Ave., Esparto, 95627; or the charity of donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Laferty & Smith Colonial Chapel of Santa Rosa.
Services: A funeral service is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2003, at Star of the Valley Church in Santa Rosa. A memorial Mass is scheduled to be said at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at St. Martin's Church in Esparto. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Santa Rosa.

Davie Donald "Claw" Carter
Davie "Claw" Donald Carter died in Woodland Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005 at age 39.
Mr. Carter was born April 5, 1966 in Woodland. He was a life-long Yolo County resident.
Survivors include Mr. Carter's daughters, Sylvia and Kirsten Carter and his grandmother, Cathy Carter. He was preceded in death by his father, Davie LaVerne Carter and his grandfather, Vern Carter.
The family requests memorials in Mr. Carter's name be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at Kraft Bros. Funeral Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland, with Reverend Elmer Prout officiating. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dorothy "Dotty" Ruth Carter
Former Davis resident Dorothy Ruth Carter died April 28, 2003, in Saddlebrooke, Ariz. She was 87.
Called "Dotty, " she was born May 11, 1915 in Belleville, Ill., to Louis Phillips and Cecelia Eugenia Zerweck. Due to maternal illness, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Nell and Paul Carter in Nashville, Ill.
Dotty Carter attended De Pauw University for two years, then transferred to the University of Illinois. She received her bachelor's degree in history in 1939.
She then returned to Nashville to teach high school. There, she met Russell Carter, to whom she was marriage for 63 years, until his death in 2001. Following her husband during his career with NCR, she lived in seven cities, including Davis, before moving to Saddlebrooke in 1989 to be near family.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Josephine Plagmon of Belleville.
She is survived by two sons, L. Phillip Carter and daughter-in-law Colleen and John Z. Carter and daughter-in-law Lori of Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Kristin Carter Pesqueira and her husband Victor of Tucson, Melinda Carter and John P. Carter, both of Washington, D.C., Chad Carter of Phoenix, Ariz., Matthew Carter of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Erin Carter of Lansing, Mich.; step-grandchildren, Shanna Gliss of Phoenix and Chris O'Brien of Denver; a great-grandchild, Lindsey Pesqueira of Tucson; a great-step-grandchild, Michael Gliss of Phoenix; and a niece, Sue McCoskey of Marion, Ill.
Dotty Carter served as president of the Naval Wives Club at Harvard University, president of the Denver Newcomers and regent of the Des Moines DAR. Known for her enthusiasm, generosity and fun-loving nature, she enjoyed spending time with friends, playing bridge and golf, and reading.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at East Lawn Palms Mortuary in Tucson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks friends to make a donation to a favorite charity.
