Death of H. K. Carter
H. K. Carter, who has resided for the past nine years on what is known as the Gould vineyard, just east of Davisville, across the S. P. tracks, died early Monday morning after a few days illness. However, the old gentleman had been rapidly failing for a long time. The services were conducted by Rev. J. W. Dorrance from the late residence with songs by Messers Robson, Covell and Miss Mabel Philliber, Mrs. C. A. Covell, and his remains were laid in the Davisville cemetery.
H. K. Carter was born in Syracuse, N. Y., and was 79 years and 4 months of age. In his native State he marriage, 53 years ago, Miss Hester Ann Trakey. He came to California in 1856, with his family. He resided in San Francisco about one year, removing to the Territory of Washington, where he remained about four years, before returning to San Francisco and Oakland. Between the two places he made his home thereafter until coming to Davisville, nine years ago. To them, but one son was given, Leroy T. Carter who still makes his home with his parents.
For many years Mr. Carter has made a specialty of the dried fruit business and bought for large wholesale firms. His aged widow, especially, has the sympathy of this community in her loss of the partner who had for more than half a century journeyed with her.

CARTER
Kathleen "Kay" Billings Carter
Kathleen "Kay" Billings Carter of Woodland passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2004 in the Alderson Convalescent Hospital, Woodland at the age of 85.
She was a native of Clark County, Missouri. Born on a farm Dec. 4, 1918 to the late John and Jane Carder Billings, the youngest of five children.
The family moved to Idaho in the 30's. Farmed in the Twin Falls Area.
Kathleen attended grade school and high school in Missouri and Idaho.
She met and marriage Dean Caster of Twin Falls, Idaho when he was home from the Airforce in December 1944. They moved to Davis, California in 1950. They had four children.
Kathleen was a member of the Community Church in Davis and was active in Church circle groups. She was of the Baptist Faith and was a life long homemaker.
She moved to Woodland in 1971 and marriage Sterling Carter in 1973. She was an avid Baseball fan and enjoyed playing golf in Davis and Woodland.
Surviving her are two sons, Larry D. Caster, David J. Caster and daughter, Rhonda Lee Penn, all of Woodland. Also surviving her are former husband, Dean Caster; stepsons, Raymond Carter and wife Janet of Fort Bragg and Billy Carter and wife Kay of Woodland. Nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Nieces Mavis Solhman of North Highlands, Ca., Sandra Heidrick and husband Fred of Woodland and Gwen Ann Fuller and husband Steve of Salt Lake City, Utah. Nephews, Richard and Jerry Billings of Salt Lake City.
Preceding her in death were her infant son, James Alan Caster; husband Sterling Carter in 1989; sister, Letia Stevenson; brothers, Willard Billings, Garlin Billings and Harold Billings. Stepson, Bobby Carter; nephew, Harold "Buddy" Billings; and great-nephew, Steven F. Heidrick.
A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2004 at Monument Hill Memorial Park.
McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Leslie William Carter Jr.
Leslie William Carter Jr. died on Friday, March 28, 2003, at age 73.
Born July 31, 1929, in Sanderson, Texas, Mr. Carter had been a Yolo County resident since 1951. He attended high school and college in Texas. He was a truck driver for Jack Alves. He retired from Bernie Gorman Trucking in Yolo.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Joy Carter of Woodland; mother, Janie Carter of Sanderson, Texas; brothers; Jimmy Clyde Carter of Rocksprings, Texas, Jacky Shane Carter of Witchita, Kan.; daughters, Billie Jean Welty of Spokane, Wash., Shelly Waters of Woodland, Cynthia Townsend of Goddard, Kan., and Sherry Washington of Oklahoma City; son, Steven Smith of Woodland; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.

CARY
Louise Annabell Cary
Louise Annabell Cary died on Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at age 78.
Born July 18, 1925, in Aurora, Neb., Mrs. Cary had been a Yolo County resident for 44 years. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Aaron "Bud" Cary; children, Janet Jacobo, Brenda Cary and Rudy Difuntorum, Richard Cary and wife Pat, Aaron Cary Sr., all of Woodland, Cynthia and John Horigan of Dixon, sister, Francis Nixon and husband Nick of Woodland; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvie and Nona (Carnes) Liebhart; son, Larry Cary; and sister, Elizabeth Rust.

Services: A visitation is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 25, and from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, April 26, at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland, also with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Monday, April 26. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Monument Hill Memorial Park, Woodland.
CASARI
Antoinette 'Nette' Marie Casari
Nette Casari died Dec. 23, 2004 at Woodland Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. Born Jan. 3, 1915 in Reliance, Wyo. into an immigrant family of nine from Yugoslavia, she resided locally for over 50 years. She arrived with her husband Fred in 1947 to live and work for Holy Rosary Parish and the Sisters of the Holy Cross. Despite offers from PG&E, Fred dedicated 30 years to Holy Rosary where all their children graduated. They lived and worked at the Old Holy Rosary Academy, a boarding school for girls of elementary through high school age. The Academy, which burned to the ground in 1952, was located on what is now the shopping center on Main Street, across from The Nugget.
She was a devout Catholic and is survived by her five children, Blanche, Marilyn, Michele, Chris and Derek; four grandchildren, Eric, Brian, Melanie and Bianca. Her grandson Aaron passed away at the age of six. She loved baby-sitting for local families and also volunteering at the Senior Center. At last year's Holy Rosary reunion, numerous alumni came up to recall the fond memories of the couple and the influence they had in their lives.
A funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22 at Holy Rosary Church. Private inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, with her husband and grandson. Arturo Crisanto Casillas
Arturo Crisanto Casillas died June 26, 2005, at Sierra Healthcare Convalescent Hospital in Davis. He was 79 years old.
Born March 13, 1926, in Jerome, Ariz., he helped build ships during World War II. In later years, he was employed as a laborer.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Slyvia Roman.
He is survived by his brother, Alfonso Casillas; and his sisters, Elisa Padilla, Lidia Robles, Elvira Cuevas and Soledad Casillas.
Arrangements are under the direction of North Sacramento Funeral Home. Interment is at the Davis Cemetery.
CASILLAS
Isabel Garcia Casillas
Isabel Garcia Casillas died at Alderson's Convalescent Hospital, Woodland, at age 92.
Born Feb. 23, 1908, in El Paso, Texas, Mrs. Casillas was the daughter of the late Candelario and Dolores (Chavez) Garcia. She had been a Yolo County resident for 42 years. She also resided at San Fernando Valley resident and worked for Paramount Electronics as an assembly line worker, making television sets and other electronic products.
Survivors include her son, Joe G. Casillas Sr.; sisters, Henrietta Garcia and husband Arturo of Los Angeles, Frances Delgado and husband Thomas of Los Angeles, and Pauline Wade and husband Bill of Grand Junction, Colo.; grandchildren, Joe Casillas Jr. and wife Donna of Dunnigan, Marguerite Duran and husband Mike, Dolores Casillas and companion Edward, Jess Casillas and wife Avada, Robert Casillas, Charles Casillas and wife Windy, all of Woodland, and Frank Casillas and wife Roslyne of Imboden, Ark.; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Federico Vargas; daughter, Margaret Vargas; and sisters, Ramona Chavez Garcia and Josefa Chavez Garcia.

A funeral mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. Monday, March 31, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland with Father John Boll officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Woodland.
