Marian Newfield Jewett Cassell
Marian Newfield Jewett Cassell died in Davis Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at age 88.
Born April 23, 1915 in Piedmont, Mrs. Cassel was a fourth generation Californian. She was the daughter of the late Melville and Hazel Newfield. She graduated from Sacramento High School in 1933 and attended UC Berkeley and Armstrong Business College. In 1936 she marriage Clinton A. Jewett. She was the office manager at Endeman's Pellet Mill in Williams. In 1968 she moved to Davis when she marriage Calvin Cassel. She was a member of the Guild of the Davis Art Center, Embroiderers' Guild, Friends of the Yolo Archives, Friends of the Davis branch of the Yolo County Library, and the Davis Genealogical Society. She and her husband was a members of the Sacramento Rubber Bums/Good Sam Club.
Survivors include her son, Gary N. Jewett of Williams; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Jewett and Tony Ashby of Sacramento; and grandchildren, Mollia Jewett and Clinton Jewett of Williams, Mark Daterman and his wife Naomi of New York City, Todd Daterman of Eugene, Ore., David Daterman and his wife Michele of Portland, Ore., Douglas Cassel and his wife Linda of Roseville; and great-granddaughters, Nicole and Kirsten Cassel of Roseville. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clinton A. Jewett, in 1966 and Calvin C. Cassel; and brother, Dalton, Newfield.

Services: Respecting the wishes of Mrs. Cassel, no services are scheduled; however in June, friends and family will gather together to celebrate Marian's life.
CASSON
Timothy E. Casson
Timothy Edwin Casson of Davis was killed in a traffic crash near Winters on Aug. 6, 2002. He was 25 years old.
Born in Santa Rosa on Jan. 21, 1977, he attended Montgomery High School before moving to Davis in 1993. He graduated from Davis High School and was a partner in the family business, Casson & Son Carpet Care.
He is the son of Gail and Paul Casson of Davis; grandson of Anita Marie Casson of Rowley, Mass.; grand-nephew of Albert and Rita Lillie of San Bruno; brother of Tiffany Casson of Winters; and nephew of Lynn and Curt Annen and Laurie Casson of Rowley, Mass., Terry and Antone Duncan of Salinas, Tim and Gloria Duncan of Santa Rosa, Michelle Duncan of Seattle and Ruth Harris of Port Orchard, Wash. He was loved by all who knew him and will also be missed by many cousins and friends.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 200 W. 14th St. in Davis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Yolo Connections, 327 College St., Suite 100, Woodland, CA 95695.
CASTANEDA
Alfredo S. Castaneda
Alfredo S. Castaneda died at UC Medical Center, Sacramento on Sunday, July 13, 2003, at age 87. Born April 17, 1916, in Penjamo, Guanajuato, Mexico, Mr. Castaneda had been a Yolo County resident for eight years. He was a sheet metal worker for 40 years in Sacramento. Survivors include his daughters, Millie Sandoval and husband Fred of Woodland, and Vickie Villanueva and husband Augustine of Sacramento; sons, Frank Hernandez and wife Molly of Phoenix, Ariz., Luis Soto and wife Charlene of Ethel, Wash., and Joe Soto of Sacramento; 32 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Maria Torres Castaneda; and daughters, Margie Villanueva and Lilly Lopez. The family requests memorials be directed to the charity of donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland.
Services: A rosary is scheduled to be recited at 7 p.m. today Wednesday, July 16, at Kraft Bros. Chapel. A mass of Christian burial is scheduled to be said at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2003, at St. Rose Catholic Church, 5961 Franklin Blvd., Sacramento, with Father Francis Lawlor officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 6700 21st Ave., Sacramento.
CASTAŅEDA
Angela C. Castaņeda
Angela C. Castaņeda of Woodland died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005 at age 92.
Mrs. Castaņeda was born Feb. 1, 1913 in Zacatecas, Mexico. She had been a Yolo Country resident for 60 years. She was a homemaker and had worked at Contadina Cannery for 15 years. In addition she was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Woodland.
Survivors include Mrs. Castaņeda's daughters, Hope Ramirez and her husband Al and Connie Leandro; her sons, Manuel Castaņeda and his wife Ofelia and Raul Castaņeda and his wife Dorothy; 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Castaņeda; her daughter, Amparo Castaņeda and her son, Richard Castaņeda.
Services: A vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22 at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland with interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
CASTER
Marie B. Caster
Marie Beall Caster died in her Woodland residence Oct. 17, 2001. Born in Woodland on Dec. 4, 1921, to the late Joseph and Dorothy Foreman, she was 79 years old.
She was a lifelong resident of Woodland. She was a bookkeeper at UC Davis for 25 years, a charter member of the Emblem Club, a member of the Yolo Fliers Club and an avid golfer.
She is survived by her husband, Dean Caster of Woodland; her children, Bill Powell and wife Jan of Davis, and Bob Powell of Las Vegas; stepchildren John Chapman and wife Star, and Larry Caster, David Caster and Rhonda Penn, all of Woodland; and brother T.J. Foreman of New Mexico. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister Marjorie Mortenson and brother Bill Foreman.
A graveside memorial service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Monument Hill Memorial Park in Woodland.
The family would prefer memorial contributions be directed to the Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, CA 95617.
McNary's Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.
CASTILLO
Audrey G. Castillo
Audrey G. Castillo, a former resident of Davis, died April 29, 2005, at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento. Born on Dec. 6, 1920, in St. Louis, Mo., she was 84 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homero Castillo, on Jan. 8, 1980.
She is survived by her son, Richard Castillo and his wife Ilene of Woodbury, Minn., and her daughter, Carmen Cody and her husband James of West Sacramento; her grandchildren, Amy, Valerie and Joseph Castillo of Woodbury, Minn., and Melissa and Kellen Cody of West Sacramento; and her longtime companion, B.F. Williams of West Sacramento.
A private family graveside service will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.

Benita Castillo
Benita Castillo died in Woodland Saturday, May 21, 2005 at age 104.
Mrs. Castillo was born March 21, 1901 in Atoyac, Jalisco, Mexico. She had been a Yolo County resident for 15 years. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include Mrs. Castillo's daughters, Maria Elena Casta eda of Tucson, Ariz. and Graciela D. Schaffner of Woodland; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Jose Luis Castillo, Lucio Diaz Castillo and Abelardo Diaz Castillo.
Services: Vigil is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 26 at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, May 27 at Holy Rosary Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland. Interment will follow the service at St. Joseph's Cemetery. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
CASTILLO
Paul Shawn Castillo
Paul Shawn Castillo passed away unexpectedly in Truckee, Ca. on Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at the age of 44.
Born on July 28, 1959, in San Francisco, Ca. he was the son of the late Joseph P. and Mary M. (McMillan) Castillo Jr. of Esparto, Ca.
Paul grew up in Esparto, Ca. and graduated from Esparto High School in 1977. He had been an avid participant in all sports programs and was especially fond of basketball. He continued his love of basketball by playing regularly, and supporting his favorite team, the Sacramento Kings. Paul also loved coaching children's baseball and football teams, and enjoyed many other outdoor activities. Paul was a caring, giving and compassionate person who was always ready to "lend a hand" to family and friends. Paul worked for the California Department of Transportation and greatly enjoyed his outdoor maintenance job in the Kingsvale area.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Ortega of Sacramento, his mother Mary Castillo of Esparto, sisters, Janeen Castillo-Cleland (Richard), Denise Kidwell of Woodland, Renee Harmon (Kent) and brother Joseph P. Castillo III of Esparto. Also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews - Amber, Marissa, Sarah, Brenna, Marisa, Andrea, Kristina, Dustin, Casey, and Zach. He will be greatly missed by his many friends, family and his 4-legged friend "Buddy."
The funeral service is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at 10 a.m., at Kraft Bros. Funeral Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Capay Cemetery, Esparto. Deacon Edward Kull will officiate. Friends and family are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests blood donations in Paul's memory be directed to the Sacramento Blood Bank, Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, 95815.
