Daniel “Danny” Sanford Cecil
Daniel “Danny” Sanford Cecil died March 8, 2006, after a short battle with lung cancer.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at Linwood United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City.
Born to Margrat and Leon Cecil on Dec. 12, 1948, in Albany, he moved to Davis in 1956 and attended Davis schools, graduating from Davis High School in 1967. He was drafted and served in Vietnam.
He worked in construction in the Davis area before moving to Oklahoma City in 1992. He was a loving son, brother and uncle. His friends hold fond memories of wonderful camping trips, storytelling, abalone fishing, Wednesday poker games, and numerous football parties.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leon.
He is survived by his mother, Margrat; his brothers, Darrell, Larry, Loren and Bryce; by his sister, Elizabeth; and nephews and nieces.
CECIL
Debra Gail Cecil
Debra Gail Cecil of Davis died unexpectedly at Sutter Davis Hospital Feb. 9, 2004. She was 49.
Born Sept. 16, 1954, in Parsons, Kan., she was brought to California in 1957. She lived in Sacramento and Chico before moving to Davis in 1966. She graduated from Davis High School in 1972.
She was employed by UC Davis for about 27 years, working for the School of Veterinary Medicine and at Crocker Nuclear Lab.
"Debby will be missed by all and remembered in our hearts always, " her family said.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Larry Cecil of Davis, son, Ty of Reno, Nev., parents, Ernie and Ruth Hurd of Davis, sister, Jan Neff, her husband Dan and their children, Ben and Kimberly, all of Woodland, and by other relatives and friends.
No service is planned.
Davis Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
CECIL
Russell Barton Cecil
Russell Barton Cecil died at his home in Yreka on March 1, 2005. He was 86 years old.
A memorial service was held at Mount Shasta Memorial Chapel in Mount Shasta.
Born in Dixon on Nov. 15, 1918, to the late Warren Wadsworth Cecil and Clara Elma Horrigan, he spent most of his life as a resident of Dixon, Winters, Woodland, and Davis. A graduate of Dixon High School, he was a dairyman, rancher and surveyor.
His family described him as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Day Cecil; and his sisters, Shirley Jungerman and Marion Walhberg.
He is survived by his sons, Bruce Cecil of Shingletown, and Brian Cecil and his wife Judy of Davis; his sisters, Wanda Snyder and Sharon Bailey; and a brother, Warren Cecil.
He is further survived by his grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, and Annie Cecil of Davis.
The family requests that memorials in his name be directed to the American Lung Association.
CEFARATTI
Ralph Cefaratti
Ralph Cefaratti died unexpectedly July 26, 2005, in Rumsey. He was 50.
Born in New Britain, Conn., on Dec. 21, 1954, to Gaetano and Ida (Colosimo) Cefaratti, he lived there until he was 12, when the family moved to San Diego. He graduated from Helix High School in 1972.
He was employed in retail sales, most recently with Costco for 17 years, for a total of 35 years of service. After retirement, he became a walnut rancher in the Capay Valley.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Connie Cefaratti of Guinda; daughters, Amy Gioia and her husband Ken, and Michelle Cefaratti; son, Michael Cefaratti; and granddaughter, Emma Gioia, all of Vacaville.
A celebration of life will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Rumsey Town Hall in Rumsey.
Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Service of Woodland.
CERDA
Efrain Cerda
Efrain Cerda died at UCD Medical Center, Sacramento on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, at age 27.
Born Nov. 15, 1975, in Mexico, Mr. Cerda had been a Yolo County resident for 10 years. He worked for Silvercrest Western Homes for five years.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Cerda; children, Bryan and Gino Cerda; mother, Guadalupe Camacho and stepfather, Guillermo. He was preceded in death by his father, Ramon Cerda.
McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
A funeral service is scheduled at 5 p.m. today Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Holy Rosary Church, Woodland.
CERROS
Maria "Jesus" Cerros
Maria "Jesus" Cerros died at the Courtyard Healthcare in Davis on Jan. 21, 2000, at age 86.
Born Dec. 23, 1913 in El Salitre, Jalisco, Mexico, Mrs. Cerros had been a resident of Winters for 50 years and moved to Woodland a year ago to be near her family and daughter. She was a retired sorter of Davis Hunts Foods.
Mrs. Cerros is survived by her husband, Victor of Woodland; daughter Aurora Sanchez of Woodland; sisters Maria Villa of Woodland and Soledad Villa of Mexico; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews in the Woodland and Winters areas.
A recitation of the rosary was held at 7 p.m., Jan. 25, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Woodland. A mass was said at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Woodland. Interment followed at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery of Woodland.
Nightingale-Gilmore Funeral Chapel in Sacramento assisted the family with arrangements.
CERROS
Victoriano Cerros
Victoriano Cerros passed away on March 30, 2000 at Woodland Memorial Hospital after a brief illness at the age of 85 years. He was born in El Salitre, Jalisco, Mexico, on September 7, 1914. Mr. Cerros was a resident of Woodland for the last two years and formerly a 50-year resident of Winters, where he was an employee of the Jimenez-Martin Ranch for over 45 years.
He is survived by a daughter, Aurora Sanchez, of Woodland, and Joe and Alfredo Preciado (who Victoriano raised like his own children) of Winters; God-daughter, Carmen Guzman, of Dixon; two brothers and one sister of Mexico and a sister, Maria Villa, of Woodland; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews in Winters, Woodland and Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria, in January 2000.
A Vigil was held at 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday, April 5, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. A Mass will be held on Thursday, April 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, in Winters. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, in Woodland.
