Bette Chadwick
A memorial service will be held Friday evening for Bette Chadwick of Davis. She passed away at home on Feb. 20, 2002. She was 87.
She was born in Chico and lived most of her life in Coachella Valley. In the 1940s she marriage Howard Chadwick, and they raised their family in Thermal. Bette was a teacher and later became a reading specialist in the Thermal elementary schools until her retirement.
She remained active in a variety of community service organizations, traveled the world with her grand sense of adventure, and pursued her love of painting, golf and the outdoors.
She was an enthusiastic member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Indio, and shared her love of Christ. She was a constant source of spiritual inspiration to her family. Her most cherished role in life was as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will be dearly missed by her family: her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Al Arens of Santa Ana; her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Todd Hammond of Davis; her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Jan Chadwick of Rancho Bernardo; her son and daughter-in-law, Art and Joy Chadwick of Keene, Texas; her grandchildren, Dan Chadwick and his wife Shirleane, Barbara Chadwick, Michael and David Cheney, and Amy, Wendy and Kim Chadwick; and great-granddaughter Sierra Chadwick.
"We will continue to feel her love within us until the day we are reunited, " her family says.
A celebration of her life, followed by an ice cream social, will be held at Pole Line Road Baptist Church, 770 Pole Line Road, in Davis on Friday at 5 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to RRR Adult Day Program, 915 27th St., Sacramento, CA 95816 and Citizens Who Care, 416 F St., Davis, CA 95616, all for Alzheimer's support.
CHAMBERS
Binning Pearce Chambers
Binning Pearce Chambers died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at Park Place in Reno, Nev. He was 83.
Chambers, who suffered recently from Parkinson’s disease and pneumonia, lived in Davis for 30 years before moving to Reno about four years ago. No memorial service is planned.
Born in Detroit, on Sept. 14, 1922, Ben (as he was known to friends) was a retired major in the U.S. Air Force and a veteran of World War II and the Vietnam War. In World War II, he helped liberate Mauthausen Concentration Camp. While there, he was among the first to be treated by the new drug, penicillin. While in Vietnam, he assisted in air medical evacuation to Tachikawa, Japan.
After leaving the Air Force, he worked as assistant to the dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia. He came to UC Davis to participate in the establishment of the medical school.
He served for many years until his retirement as grants and contracts officer at the UCD Medical Center. In addition to work, he enjoyed reading books of history and philosophy.
He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Victoria Ada Chambers.
He is survived by one son, Dr. Raymond L. Chambers and wife, Dr. Paula H. Chambers of Bainbridge, Ga., and a grandson, Herschel B. Chambers and wife, April W. Chambers of Athens, Ga.

MORALES
Carmen Sidoma Morales
Carmen Sidoma Morales passed away September 21, 2000, in Sacramento, at the age of 96. She was born in September 10, 1904 in Porterville, Arizona where she was born into an Indian tribe.
A long time resident of Winters, Carmen was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and very involved with the senior citizen community. She enjoyed spending her time helping the less fortunate with food and clothing and working in her garden.
In her early years, Carmen worked at a Mariani’s Camp feeding Bracero workers. She also played a small role in the Mexican film, “El Contrabando Del Paso, ” along side legendary Mexican actors Gerardo Reyes and Valentina Leyva.
Carmen is survived by her living children, Socorro Morales of Sacramento, Juan and Amelia Morales of El Paso, Texas, and Roberto Morales of Winters; more than 90 children, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She will be joining her deceased children, Fidencio, Frank (Pancho), Pedro, Gabriel, Eulalio, Jesus and twins Sarita and Roberto.
MORALES
Dorothy W. (Brewer) Morales
Dorothy W. (Brewer) Morales passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2005 peacefully at Sutter Davis Hospital after a short illness. She was 75 years old.
Ms. Morales was born April 16, 1930 in Murfreesburo, Tennessee to Charlie and Bessie Robinson. She marriage John Howard Brewer, who preceded her in death in April 1970, on October 16, 1945. On March 1, 1975, she marriage Frank S. Morales, who preceded her in death on February 20, 1994. She lived in Vacaville from 1964 to 1975, when she moved to Winters where she would live until her death.
Dorothy is survived by her loving children Polly Medendrop and her husband Lewis of Muskegon, Michigan, Annette Nations and her husband Bill, of Winters, Johnny Brewer and his wife Donna of Winters, Wayne Brewer and his wife Lena of Vacaville, her sisters Irene Maldordo of Winters, and Frances Brown of Murfreesburo, Tennessee, her step-children Michael Morales of Oregon, Terry Morales and his wife Anessa of Vacaville, Sandy Mendoza and her husband Jesus F. Jr. of Woodland, Tina Covington and her husband Richard of Woodland, and Roni Morales of Woodland.
Dorothy was very thoughtful, generous, and loved by all that knew her. She was known as “Mom” to everyone. She enjoyed taking trips to Reno. Dorothy retired from Basil in 1985. She was employed with Barry and Linda Boone of Dixon for 17 years until her death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 23 at 11 a.m. at the Winters Cemetery. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to the family at P.O. Box 1118, Winters, CA.

Graciela Soto Morales
Graciela Soto Morales died unexpectedly at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento Friday, Nov. 2, 2002, at age 49.
She was born June 5, 1953 in Mexico to Jose Luis and Gaspar Soto (Cruz) Martinez of Panindicuaro, Michoacan, Mexico, who survive her.
She had immigrated to the United States and resided in Yolo County for the past 11 years with her family.
While living in Woodland she worked in the restaurant business. For the past seven years she worked at Denny's on East Street, "where she was both respected and liked by her co-workers, management and customers, " according to family members.
Mrs. Morales is survived by husband Jose Luis Martinez; daughters Luz Elena Barriga and husband Pablin, and Roxsana Martinez, all of Woodland; sons Roberto Martinez, Jose H. Martinez and wife Patricia, all of Woodland, and Juan Martinez of Tijuana, Mexico.
She is also survived by brothers Juan, Gaspar and Liandro Soto of Panindicuaro, Michoacan, Mexico, and Enrique Soto of Woodland; sister, Luz Maria Soto of Panindicuaro, Michoacan, Mexico; and grandchildren Casandra, Adriana, Jossie, Shelsy, Keily, Alejandro, Jose and Francisco Martinez and Pablin Barringa Jr., all of Woodland.
She was preceded in death by her sister Domitila Soto and brother Andres Soto.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, at Kraft Brothers Funeral Chapel, 175 Second St., with a rosary scheduled at 7 o'clock tonight.
A funeral mass is scheduled for10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., with Father John Boll officiating.
Interment will immediately follow the mass at St. Joseph's Cemetery, West and Cross streets. All family and friends are invited to attend.
The family requests that donations be directed to the Holy Rosary building fund.
Kraft Brothers Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.
MORALES
Stella Garcia Morales
Stella Garcia Morales of Dixon died on Aug. 26, 2004. Born on Jan. 24, 1919, she was 85.
She was born in Pistou, Colo., to Porfirio Garcia and Rosa Martinez. She was a resident of Dixon since 1938.
She was employed by Hunts Cannery in Davis for 25 years and retired at age 75. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of her church. She was so devoted to her grandchildren that she raised three of them herself.
She was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Saragosa, and a daughter, Estrella Hober.
She is survived by two sons, Louis Saragosa of Dixon and Ben Saragosa of Woodland, and a daughter, Rose Tamplen of Winters. She also is survived by a brother, Gregory Garcia of Arkansas and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Stella Garcia Morales at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 105 Second St., Dixon.
MORAN
George Francis Moran
George Francis Moran, a Davis resident for the past 34 years, died at Kaiser Hospital in Walnut Creek on Nov. 24, 2003. He was 82.
Born June 14, 1921, in San Francisco to George and Josephine Moran, he grew up in Vallejo. He graduated from Vallejo High School in 1939, and in ensuing years missed just two class reunions.
During World War II, he served as a U.S. Army technical sergeant in France and Germany. Later, he worked for 37 years as a public health administrator for the state Department of Public Health.
He was a member of the Elks, earning his 50-year pin, as well as the Davis Senior Center, Genealogy Club, AARP, Cal Aggie Alumni Association and UC Berkeley Alumni Association.
He served on the Davis Senior Citizens Commission from June 1995 to March 2002. He was chairman from January 1996 to January 2001 and treasurer from 1996 to 1998. He also served on the board of the Yolo County Long-term Care Commission.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Inez Moran, on March 26, 2001.
He is survived by his children, Martin F. Moran and his wife Paulette of Antioch; Catherine Von Ibsch and her husband Ernst of Oakland; Patricia Whittaker and her husband Cat of Laginitas; George Michael Moran and his wife Sheila of Sterling, Va.; and Matthew Moran and his wife Penny of Woodland. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Fritz Von Ibsch and his wife Sharon; Erich Von Ibsch; Kurt Von Ibsch; Kerry Martin and her husband Leif; Vicki Janssen; Steve Janssen; Brianna Moran; Shannon Moran; Krysti Daniel; Thomas Bensing and Ashley Bensing; and by great-grandchildren Isis Martin, Elijah Martin and Kyler Courtney.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Dec. 3, 2003, at St. James Catholic Church, 200 W. 14th St., in Davis. Burial at Davis Cemetery will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances be made in the name of the deceased to the Davis Senior Center, 646 A St., Davis CA 95616.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.
