Marian "Nonie" Pieretti
Marian "Nonie" Pieretti died at her daughter's home in Woodland Sunday, June 26 at age 89.
Mrs. Pieretti was born Aug. 5, 1915 in San Francisco. She was a long-time resident of Sacramento County. She was a member of St. Anthony Church as well as a volunteer with St. Anthony Altar Society.
Survivors include Mrs. Pieretti's children, Robert Pieretti, Joanne and John Morelli all of Woodland; her daughter-in-law of Kim Pieretti of Carmichael; her grandchildren, Robert "Tony, " Paul, John and Karen Pieretti Melissa, Christine and Matthew Morelli; her great-grandchild, Rylan Pieretti and her sisters, Bernice Marcaletti and Ramona Gammino of San Francisco. She was preceded in death by her husband Angelo Pieretti and her son, Donald Pieretti.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. Pieretti's name be made to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617-1014 or the St. Anthony Church, 14012 Walnut Ave., Walnut Grove, 95690.
Services: A cryptside service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 30 at St. Mary's Cemetery, 6700 21st Ave., Sacramento. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be offered at St. Anthony Church, 14012 Walnut Ave., Walnut Grove, also on Thursday at noon. W.F. Gormley & Sons are assisting the family with arrangements.
PINO
Eleanor J. Pino
Eleanor J. Pino died at Woodland Memorial Hospital Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at age 89.
Born Aug. 21, 1914, in Hollister, Tres Pinos area, Mrs. Pino lived in Alameda for many years prior to retiring from American Can Company Oil in Oakland and moving to Woodland in 1980.
Survivors include her sons, John J. Woolley and wife Charlene of Pinole and Robert M. Woolley and wife Johanna of Alameda; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lou Pino.
Services: Family and friends are invited to a memorial celebration at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland, (662-5411), with Father John Boll of Holy Rosary Catholic Church officiating.
PIRES
Belmira "Belle" Pires
Belmira "Belle" Pires died at Alderson Convalescent Hospital in Woodland on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at age 95.
Mrs. Pires was born May 18, 1910 in Oakland to Joseph and Angela (Mello) Pimentel. She had been a Yolo County resident for 86 years. She graduated from Willow Oak Grammar School. She and her husband owned a dairy farm in Esparto and later she worked as a salad maker at the Woodland Clinic.
Survivors include Mrs. Pires' son, Lawrence Pires and his wife Beverly of Woodland; her grandchildren, Bruce Pires and his wife Brenda of Atascadero, Missie Hobson and her husband Larry of Avila Beach, Stephanie Price and her husband Tom, Louis Pires Jr. and his wife Ting of Woodland; her great-grandchildren, Kelsey Freshours and her husband Joseph of Dixon, Lacey Pacheco and her husband Jeff of San Diego, Matthew Hobson of Avila Beach, Jordan Price, Amaya and Arianna Pires of Woodland; great-great-grandson, Austin Freshours of Dixon; her sisters, Mary Borba, Evelyn Rhodes Schreiber and Isabel Bettencourt, all of Woodland; her brother, Clay Pimentel of Fremont; her nieces, Rita Carlson and husband Michael of Carson City, Nev., Cynthia Bettencourt of Sacramento, Deolinda M. Duncan of Woodland, Lucille Peters and husband Manuel of Elk Grove, Ida Ortiz and husband Leonard of Galt; and her nephews, Denny Rhodes and wife Genie of Dillon Beach, Manuel Borba of Oakland, Todd and Craig Pimental of Fremont, Frank Bettencourt and wife Isabel of Woodland, Manuel Bettencourt and wife Neyda of Portland, Ore. She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Felix B. Pires Sr.; her sons, Felix Pires Jr. and Louis Pires; and her parents.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. Pires' name be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
Services: A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10 at Holy Rosary. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery next to her husband. Kraft Bros. PIRES
Louis J. Pires
Louis J. Pires, beloved husband and father, passed away unexpectedly at his ranch in Esparto, Ca. on December 9th, 2002 at the age of 68, and was a lifelong resident of Yolo County. He was born in Woodland, August 28th, 1934 to Felix B. and Belmira (Pimentel) Pires.
Mr. Pires had retired from Madison Sand and Gravel Company after forty-two years of dedicated service. Mr. Pires was well known as a cattleman in both the Capay Valley and Esparto communities. He was truly loved by all and will be dearly missed by his relatives, close friends and especially his pet dogs "Hank" and "Buffie."
Mr. Pires is survived by his wife Dolores Anne (Crockett) Pires of Esparto, his son Louis J. Pires Jr. and wife Ting, his daughter Stephanie M. Price and spouse Thomas, his grandchildren Jordan Price and Amaya and Arianna Pires. Surviving also is his mother Belmira Pires, and brother Lawrence J. Pires and his wife Beverly, all of Woodland. Also survived by his stepchildren Connie Pierce, Delilah Torcato, Cindy Funston, Shelly Funston and Sherry Ostergard, all of Woodland, and Saxon Funston of Santa Monica and Samson Funston of West Sacramento. A niece, Missie Hobson of San Luis Obispo and a nephew, Bruce Pires of Atascadero survive as well. He was preceded in death by his father, Felix B. Pires Sr. and a brother, Felix B. Pires Jr.
A memorial mass is scheduled at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland, Ca. on Monday, Dec. 16, 2002 at 10 a.m. Father Colm O'Kelly will be officiating. No visitation is scheduled prior to the service. Private interment will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial donations in Mr. Pires name may be made to the American Heart Association, 2007 "O" St., Sacramento, Ca 95814; or the Esparto Volunteer Fire Department, Esparto, Ca 95627.

PIRKLE
Janette Renee Pirkle
Janette Renee Pirkle died on Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at her home in Sutter County. She was 39 years old.
Born in Woodland on April 19, 1963, Ms. Pirkle attended schools in Woodland and later worked at UC Davis as a teacher's aide in the Peer Project.
Survivors include her mother, Marilyn Pirkle, of Sutter County and uncle Gerald Minatre of Sacramento.
Memorial may be sent to the UC Davis Peer Project. Arrangements were under the direction of Kraft Bros. of Woodland.
Services: A graveside commital service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2003 at the Woodland Cemetery.
PISANI
Angelena Elizabeth 'Pescaglini' Pisani
Angelena Elizabeth Pisani died at St. John's retirement Village in Woodland on Friday, July 18, 2003. She was 88 years old.
Born in Winters on Oct. 26, 1914, Mrs. Pisani was the daughter of Guissepe and Elizabeth (Delasandro) Pescaglini. Mrs. Pisani was a lifelong resident of Yolo County and has until recently been a resident of Leisureville Mobile Home Park in Woodland.
After attending Yolo County schools, she marriage and later worked for 30 years as a waitress at Gorman's Restaurant in Yolo.
Mrs. Pisani is survived by her son, Robert A. Pisani of Winters; daughter, Louise Taylor and husband Jim of Vancouver, Wash.; grandsons, Jim Pisani and wife Jennifer of Visalia, Bob Pisani and wife Gwen of Winters, Mike Pisani and wife Jana of Paris, Miss., Larry Pisani and wife Teresa of Winters, James Taylor of Vancouver, Joseph Taylor and wife Julie of Tigard, Ore., and granddaughter Annmarie Haldeman and husband Jay of Vancouver. She is also survived by a brother, Jack Pescaglini and wife Alice of Woodland; and a sister, Jean Botelli and husband Bill of Davis. Other survivors include brother-in-laws, Al Roncoroni and Nicholas Cadenasso of Woodland; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Angelo Pisani in 1991, her parents, a brother, Harry Pescaglini and sisters Mary Gorman, Josephine Cadenasso and Julia Roncoroni.
The family requests donations in memory of Angelena Pisani be made to Hospice of Yolo County, P.O. box 1014, Davis, 95617, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Services: A rosary and prayer vigil are scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, at Kraft Bros. Chapel in Woodland. A mass is scheduled for St. Martin's Catholic Church in Esparto at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 23. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Woodland. No visitation will be held prior to services.
PITTS
James E. Pitts
James E. Pitts passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2002 at Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento. Born on Feb. 25, 1928, in Howell Tennessee, he was 74 years old.
Mr. Pitts served in the United States Navy during World War II. He graduated from UC Davis and worked for many years at Travis Air Force Base as a Passenger Services Supervisor, retiring in 1983. Mr. Pitts was described by his family as "devoted to his grandchildren, who brought him great joy as he did them."
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Maria Pitts of Winters. He is also survived by a daughter, Jo Ann Hayes and her husband Robert of Esparto; sons Richard Pitts and his wife Debbie of Winters and Joseph and Michael Pitts, both of Sacramento; brother-in-law Joe Rubio and his wife Carmen of Winters. He is also survived by his grandchildren Christopher Hayes of Woodland, Jeffrey Pitts of Sacramento, Deston Hayes of Chico and Amber Pitts of San Diego.
Mr. Pitts was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Orene Pitts.
Friends were invited to attend a graveside funeral service on Monday, May 6, at 1 p.m. at the Winters Cemetery, 415 Cemetery Drive, Winters.
His family requests that remembrances be made in his name to Winters Grad Night or the Winters High School Athletic Fund.
Arrangements were under the direction of Smith’s Colonial Chapel in Winters.
