George 'Bill' Myers
George "Bill" Myers died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 in Tulare at age 79.
Mr. Myers was born Nov. 25, 1925 in Mounds, Okla. He worked in the auto paint and body industry for 60 years. He was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 1484 for 15 years.
Survivors include Mr. Myers' wife, Mary A. Myers of Tulare; his daughters, Martha Brown and her husband Danny of Tulare, Wilma Bridges of Tulare and Rose Perryman and her husband Leon of Tipton; his sons, Randall Myers and his wife Anna of Tulare and James Graham of Goshen; 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude; his father, Clifford and his grandson, William Lee Curtis Myers.
Services: Visitation is scheduled for noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 6 at Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel, 132 West Kern Ave., Tulare. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, March 7 at Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Tulare District Cemetery. Peers Lorentzen Funeral Service Inc. is assisting the family with arrangements.
MYERS
Norman Edward Myers
Norman Edward Myers died at his home in Arbuckle, Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004 at age 72.
Mr. Myers was born Aug. 19, 1932 in Arbuckle and was a lifelong Arbuckle resident. He was a rice grower-farmer for 42 years in Arbuckle. He graduated from Pierce High School and later played football at Grant Tech which is now known as American River College. He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Arbuckle and the Elks Lodge in Woodland. He was also a member of the U.S. Air Force stationed at Travis Air Force Base and where worked as an aircraft mechanic.
Survivors include Mr. Myers' wife of 46 years, Jeanne Myers also of Arbuckle; his daughters, Charlene Vaughn and her husband Tim, Janet Martin and her husband Frank, Penny Mathews and her husband Robert all of Arbuckle, and Robbie Rubio and her husband Richard of Winters; his son, Charles Roberts of Arbuckle; his sister, Geraldine Hobbs of West Sacramento; his brothers, Clifford and Harold Myers of Arbuckle; and his grandchildren Matthew and Curtis Vaughn, Mary, Susie and Johnny Martin, Jennifer and Jimmy Manhart, Rebecca Rubio, Mark Tucker and numerous nieces and nephews Memorials in Mr. Myers' name may be directed to the charity of donor's choice.
Services: A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Arbuckle. Funeral mass will be said 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4 also at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Arbuckle Cemetery. Funeral Services are under the Direction of McNary - Moore Funeral Service of Colusa.
CHAMPLIN
Peter Guy Champlin
Peter Guy Champlin of Bend, Ore., died Oct. 20, 2004, of multiple myeloma. He was 71.
A memorial is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 11th and Greenwood streets in Bend, with a gathering to follow at 3 p.m. at the Bend Golf & Country Club, 61045 Country Club Drive.
Born Dec. 19, 1933, in Seattle, he moved to Richmond when he was a young boy. As a teenager, he worked with his father at their service station. A gifted athlete, he played many sports and excelled in football at Richmond High (1952). A blue-chip prospect, he was selected to play in the North-South Shrine Football game and was awarded a scholarship to the University of Southern California, where he played in college (1956).
He marriage Marilyn Griffin and learned the family business, Griffin Construction Co. in Vacaville, and later in Davis. They had a son, Robert Champlin. Their nephew Steven Griffin was soon added to the young family and daughter Sharon was born in 1959.
Working as a manager and estimator, he was instrumental in the construction of many commercial and institutional buildings in and around Davis, including additions to the Davis Community Church, where his family became members. He got his own contractor's license and continued to work in Davis.
His career took him to work as an area manager with Kaiser-Aetna, which started as a development of affordable housing in Winters. He oversaw projects around Northern California and served as a troubleshooter for developments around the nation. He formed his own company in the Contra Costa area with a partner: Champlin-Cotton Development. Together he and Allen Cotton subdivided residential lots, built homes, commercial and industrial buildings.
He lent his expertise to several attorneys involved in construction and development cases and was a consultant to lenders and other developers. His final major career work was as a partner with his longtime friend, Courtney Seeple of Courtland Properties, San Francisco. Together they transformed a stalled residential development into an enclave of treasured homes.
While his children were young, he coached and volunteered in Little League Baseball and later as a leader in the 4-H Club. His hobbies included camping, fishing, hunting with his son Rob, horse shows with daughter Sharon, and watching Rob and Steven play football for the Davis High Blue Devils. Whether it was the annual Davis Family Night bus trip to see the Giants/Dodgers game or watching his son Steve play football for the UC Davis Aggies, he came and rooted.
He enjoyed reading, playing cards and photography. He followed his dream to fly, got a pilot's license and was a founding member of Cork & Fork Airlines Ltd, a local group of friends who liked to fly in the area. He was a member of the Optimist International Club, Aggie Boosters and a regular at Quarterback Club meetings.
His marriage to Marilyn ended; however, he kept close to his children and kept a lifelong friendship with Marilyn. He later marriage Shirley Wheeler, who had a family of four grown sons. He counted them as his own and their children as part of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was proud of his grandson Brian Twigg, now serving his country as a lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in Al Assed, Iraq.
After retirement, he and Shirley relocated to Bend, Ore., where they made many new friends and enjoyed playing golf together, traveling, and going to social events with their neighbors at home and at the Bend Golf & Country Club.
He will be remembered for his love of family and community, and his keen sense of humor that he loved to share.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, sons Robert Champlin of Winters and Steven Griffin of Los Osos, and daughter Sharon MacGregor of Woodland.
He is further survived by Shirley's sons, Jeff and Greg Wheeler of Chico, Doug Wheeler of Biggs and Mike Wheeler of Tracy; brother, Jerry Champlin of Pensacola, Fla.; sister, Denise Ziganti of Sonoma; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Joe Bob Chance died at his home in Woodland, Thursday, June 23, 2005 at age 69.
Mr. Chance was born Jan. 12, 1936 in Locust Grove, Okla. He had been a Yolo Country resident for 42 years. He worked for Agriform Chemical Company for 18 years and later for the Woodland Joint Unified School District for 10 years. He loved spending time with his family. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include Mr. Chance's wife of 41 years, Donelda Louise Chance, of Woodland; his sons, Kevin Joe Chance of Woodland and Wesley Walter Chance of Dolores, Colo.; his grandchildren, Isaack Joe Chance, Iris Hope Chance and Jacob Wesley Chance; and his sister, Nellie Lou Evans of Locust Grove, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
The family requests memorials in Mr. Chance's name be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 625 W. Gibson Road, Woodland, with Pastor Hank Scherer officiating. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

CHANDON
Anne Chandon
This is a love story about a girl who moved from Oakland, with her parents at the age of 15 to the small town of Esparto.
The story starts here when she met her husband, Howard Chandon. Howard was a year older than Anne. They completed Esparto High School together. Anne, 20 and Howard, 21 marriage at St. James Church in Davis.
They spent their marriage life raising and enjoying their five children. They were marriage for 40 years until Howard's death in 1991.
Anne died at the age of 71 on Oct. 16, 2002.
She will be lovingly remembered by all five of her children and 11 grandchildren. Anne was with all of her children when she passed peacefully at Kaiser Hospital in Sacramento.
The funeral will be held at St. Martin's Church in Esparto on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. There will be a reception at the church hall immediately following the service.
The family has requested no flowers and if one chooses, they can make a donation to the Esparto Library or St. Martin's Altar Society in memory of Anne Chandon.
A love story with out an end. Together again.
JACOBSON
Brian William Jacobson
Brian William Jacobson of Davis died suddenly March 1, 2002, in Santa Rosa. He was 23.
He was born in Ukiah on Oct. 28, 1978, and graduated from Ukiah High School in 1996. He attended Mendocino Community College for two years, Santa Rosa Junior College for one year and had been a UC Davis student for the past three years. He was an aeronautical and mechanical engineering student and would have graduated from UCD in three weeks.
He enjoyed challenges, and his hobbies included his motorcycle, volleyball and gym.
Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Rose Jacobson of Ukiah; two brothers, Steve Jacobson of Davis and Chris Jacobson of Sunland; one sister, Michelle Jacobson of Davis; one foster brother, David Eavans of Ukiah; his grandmother, Mary Pfau of Devils Lake, N.D.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A vigil service is planned for 7 p.m. Thursday at St. James Catholic Church in Davis. A funeral mass is set for 1 p.m. Friday at the church, and burial will follow at Davis Cemetery.

JACOBSON
Mary Ellen (Smead) Jacobson
Mary Ellen (Smead) Jacobson of Utah died Thursday, June 23, 2005 at age 78.
Mrs. Jacobson was born Feb. 12, 1927 in Fresno to Louvicia Ann and Frederick Smead. She lived in Woodland for most of her life. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her three children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Richard E. Jacobson.
Services: Respecting the wishes of Mrs. Jacobson, no services are scheduled. The Nelson Funeral Home of Logan, Utah is assisting the family with arrangements.
