Joan (Bishop) Duncan died in Cottonwood Healthcare Center, Woodland Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at age 71.
Born Aug. 11, 1930, in Vernon, Texas, Ms. Duncan was the eldest daughter of Louie and Mozelle Bishop. She graduated from Esparto High School in 1949. She then worked at JCPenney where she met and marriage Floyd W. Duncan Jr. residing in Woodland until they moved with their children to a farm on Hillcrest, which was the place of many family gatherings throughout the years. She was a homemaker most of her adult life and served as a yard duty at Douglass Jr. High for several years.
Ms. Duncan was a valued member of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ for over 50 years and an active member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) weight loss group, reaching the honor of becoming a KOPS. She had a passion for the homeless and helped at the Lighthouse Mission every Wednesday. She was also active in Child Find for a number of years. According to her family members, "she was a loving person with a great sense of humor and known by her family and circle of friends as the hugger' as she loved to hug everyone she knew and met."
She is survived by her husband of many years, Floyd W. Duncan Jr. of Arbuckle; daughters, Judy Meacham and husband Norm of Vacaville, and Terri Martin of Woodland; sons, David R. Duncan and fiancee Dawn Wulfing of Stockton, and Michael A. Duncan and wife Rebecca of Woodland; and grandchildren, Kevin, Jeffery and Nicholas Friend, Rhonda and Paul Miller, David Nardini and Whitney Duncan, Jacob Guerette, Andrew and Jordan Duncan, Tim Meacham, Autumn King, Tim, Marisa, Roger and Steve Wulfing; and six great-grandchildren.
Ms. Duncan is also survived by her sisters, Joyce Morris and Linda Long and their husbands of Ohio; brother, Lou Bishop Jr. of Truckee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, in 1995; father, in 1992; and brothers, Jimmy and Tommy Bishop.
A memorial service is scheduled at 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 1, at the Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 509 College St., Woodland, with Pastor Love will preside.

Allen James Hannagan
Allen James Hannagan died in Woodland Memorial Hospital Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at age 82.
Born Sept. 13, 1919, in Paso Robles, Mr. Hannagan was a native Californian. He was the son of the late Myron J. and Lulu (Betts) Hannagan, who were both native Californians. He had been a Yolo County resident for the last 56 years. He had been employed with A.W. Hays Trucking from which he retired. He was a member of the Local Teamsters Union of Sacramento. According to his family members, "he was an avid reader and during his lifetime he had read the complete works of Louis L'Amour and Zane Grey, as well as numerous other authors who wrote about the glory days of the golden west. Additionally, he loved to travel and camp, and together with his wife, they had traveled to all of the western States, from Mexico to Canada, in 1992 and 1993, visiting the places he had read about in the novels. Another great love was raising cattle and horseback riding."
Mr. Hannagan is survived by his wife, Hazel (McAnelly) Hannagan of Woodland; son, Michael Hannagan and wife Barbara of Woodland; grandsons, Allen Hannagan of Linda and Sean Hannagan of Woodland; great-grandson, Shane Hannagan of Linda; sisters, Audrey Matoza, and Blanch Whitfield; and brother, Robert Hannagan.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, Feb. 1, at Kraft Bros. Funeral Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland, with a funeral service scheduled at 1 p.m., also at Kraft Bros. Chapel. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery, The Reverend Elmer Prout officiating.

Sebastiana A. Tapaoan
Sebastiana A. Tapaoan died in Cottonwood Healthcare Center, Woodland Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at age 95.
Born Jan. 27, 1906, in the Philippines, to the late Antero and Roberta Aguinaldo, Mrs. Tapaoan came to the United States in 1973 to live with her daughter in Woodland. She was a homemaker all of her adult life.
Mrs. Tapaoan is survived by her children, Macario Tapaoan and wife Luz of Hawaii, Venancia Aguinaldo and Maria Tapaoan, both of of Woodland.
She is also survived by her niece who was raised by Mrs. Tapaoan, Aida Aguistin and husband Angel of Hawaii; grandchildren, Gloria Tupinic, Emmie Watanabe, Lyn Albano, Fe Nakamura, Nellie Rivera, Marlo Tapaoan, Roldan Aguistin and Graham Aguistin, all of Hawaii, Jerry Aguinaldo of Woodland, Joseph Diaz of Mission Viejo and Mary Jane Tapaoan of Woodland; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Rufina Del Rosario and Isabel Menor, both of the Philippines; and numerous nieces and nephews in the Philippines, Hawaii and California.
Mrs. Tapaoan was preceded in death by her husband, Florencio Tapaoan; five sisters and two brothers.
A vigil service is scheduled at 5 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 3, at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland.
A funeral mass is scheduled to be said at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 4, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Lloyd Ansel Vanderburg
Lloyd Ansel Vanderburg died in Pine Grove, Wednesday Sept.12, 2001, at age 89.
Born Sept. 24, 1911 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Olive Newton and Lilly Vanderburg, Mr. Vanderburg was a long time resident of Knights Landing. He was a machinist for General cable Company for 26 years and employed by Colgate-Palmolive for 10 years. Mr. Vanderburg was also a member of the Knights Landing Sportsman Club as well as the Hastings Island Gun Club.
Mr. Vanderburg is survived by his children, Lendell Vanderburg of Pine Grove and Barbara Fediuc of Oakland; sisters Lucille Mooneyham of Augusta, Georgia and Helen Oxley of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; and brothers Doyle Vanderburg of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Gene Vanderburg of Kingston, Oklahoma and Dean Vanderburg of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He is also survived by his grandchildren; Marilyn Puryear of Pine Grove, Karen Pucio of Temecula, Nancy Kraft of Lakewood, Texas, Frank Meltzer of San Ramon, and Elizabeth Clouse of Benecia; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.
Mr. Vanderburg was preceded in death by wife Virginia Vanderburg and brothers Oroville, Woody and Troy Vanderburg
Friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 1 p.m. at McNary's Chapel. Interment will follow at the Woodland Cemetery.

Elmer Buck' Goodman
Elmer "Buck" Goodman died in Woodland Memorial Hospital Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at age 89.
Born May 9, 1912, in Arbuckle, Mr. Goodman was raised by Asa and Addie Kalfbeek. He graduated from Pierce High School in 1931 when he was a pitcher for the school baseball team. He also played football. He worked for Union Oil and moved to Woodland in 1937. In 1939 he became a distributor for Mobil Oil in Colusa and made his final move in 1943 to Dunnigan, where he farmed for the remainder of his life. He was a Dunnigan fire Commissioner for 40 years and was a member of the Pierce Joint Unified Board of Trustees for 16 years. He was a 4H leader for many years and was devoted to his hobby of restoring and driving his Model A Fords.
Mr. Goodman is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth Goodman of Dunnigan; daughter, Janis Noyer and husband Bill of Sacramento; son, John Goodman and wife Erline of Arbuckle; grandchildren, Jay, Bret, Sheryl, Doug, and Todd Goodman and Stacie and Ashley Noyer; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret Voorhees of Colusa.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jim; and his sister, Navonne Ossenbriggen.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, at McNary-Moore Chapel, Colusa.
A funeral service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Arbuckle. Burial will follow at the Arbuckle Catholic Cemetery.

Ruth Dolores Honish
Ruth Dolores Honish died in Woodland Monday, April 9, 2001, at age 84.
Born Oct. 21, 1919, in Pasadena, Ms. Honish was employed for the Oakland School District for 12 years prior to moving to Yolo County, where she resided for the past 20 years. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Laura (Brown) Crowder. She was a veteran of World War II and proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a WAVE.
Ms. Honish is survived by her daughter, Judy Price and husband Steven of Fairfield; grandchildren, Steven Michael Price of Rosamond, David Allan Price of Phoenix, Ariz. and Nicole Lynn Price of Hayward; great-grandchildren, Sandra Rose Price, Michael Isaiah Price, and Rebekah Ann Price, all of Rosamond; and sister, Clara Mae Baham of Yolo.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence, Frank and Arthur Crowder; and brother-in-law, George Blevins Baham.
A funeral service is scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, in Kraft Bros. Funeral Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland, with interment to follow at Mary's Cemetery, 38870 County Road 13, Yolo.

Stanley Earl ŒDoc' O'Leary
Stanley Earl "Doc" O'Leary died of lung cancer Saturday, March 31, 2001, at age 88.
Born Oct. 27, 1912, Mr. O'Leary was born and raised in Manteca, where his father was veterinarian for much of the area. He was the son of the late Frederick S. and Roxanna I. (Watson) O'Leary. He became a resident of Woodland in 1936 when he transferred from Spreckels Sugar in Manteca to the Woodland pant, where he was part of the construction crew. After serving as a Seabee in World War II, he returned to Spreckels, where he was a foreman until his retirement in the 1980s.
Mr. O'Leary is survived by his daughters, Sylvia Johnson of Laughlin, Nev., and Carol O'Leary of Los Angeles; grandson, Adam Ritzlin, also of Los Angeles.
Respecting the wishes of Mr. O'Leary, no funeral services are scheduled. Woodland Elks Lodge No. 1299 will conduct a memorial service at 11 a.m. April 26 at the Elks Lodge, 500 Bush St., Woodland. Mr. O'Leary was a member of the Elks Lodge.
