Rhoda (Williams) Pugh
Rhoda Pugh died at her Woodland home on Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at age 76.
Born Nov. 4, 1925 in Bentley, Okla. to the late Agustus and Susie Burris (Impson) Williams, she had been a resident of Yolo County for the last 12 years.
Mrs. Pugh was a Native American and a member of the Choctaw nation of Okla. She cherished her heritage and supported the causes of the American Indians, passing her beliefs to her children and grandchildren.
According to family members, "she enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her vegetable and flower gardens, fishing, playing bingo, and passing the hours with her quilting, sewing and crocheting."
According to family members, "she was especially attached to her pet 'Lizzie the lizard' and spent many hours playing with her.
Mrs. Pugh is survived by sons Freeman Pugh, Richard Pugh and "significant other" Carol Minarik of Fort Worth, Texas; daughters Patsy Cadwell of Woodland and Brenda Fohner and husband Greg of Haskell, Okla., daughter-in-law Dianne Butler of Eugene, Ore., and sister Lillian Rogers of Oklahoma City, Okla.
She is also survived by granddaughters Angela Walker and husband Rick of Eugene. Ore., Kimberly Reyes and husband Tony of Woodland, Shari Dixon and husband Shawn of Santa Rosa, Stephanie Sanders of Woodland, Kaia Fletcher of Haskell, Okla., and Christine Pugh of Cedar Hill, Texas; great-grandchildren Anthony and Alex Reyes, Cori and Emma Walker, Logan Dixon, Bradford Hernandez, and Catherine Chinske, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Caswell O. Pugh on January 10, 1987.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 8, at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second Street, Woodland.
Funeral services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, at Kraft Bros. Chapel. Interment is scheduled to follow at Sutter Cemetery, 7200 Butte Ave., Sutter, with Chaplain Ron Gali officiating.

STINSON
Noreen E. Stinson
Noreen E. Stinson of Lincoln died in Roseville Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 64.
Mrs. Stinson was born Aug. 9, 1940 in San Francisco. She had been a Yolo County resident for a year. She was a high school graduate and worked as a payroll administrator for 25 years at Fairchild/National Semiconductor in Santa Clara.
Survivors include Mrs. Stinson's husband of 27 years, Elmer W. Stinson Jr. of Lincoln; her daughters, Karen Pettigrew and her husband Joe of Placerville and Kathy Sanchez and her husband Steve of Woodland; her stepdaughter, Lori Crawford and her husband Pat of Modesto; her stepson, Robert Stinson and his wife Maria; and her grandchildren, Kristy, Amanda, Anthony, Jennifer, Ashley, Travis, Daniella, Bobby, and Bryson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Everlyn Martin and her in-laws, Elmer and Lois Stinson Sr.

Services: Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 13 at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 14 at Monument Hill Memorial Park. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
MEEK
William Harold Meek, Jr.
Harold Meek passed away peacefully in Chester, Calif. after a brief illness with family and friends by his side.
Born in Hayward to William Harold Meek and Marguerite Meherin Meek, Meek grew up in the Woodland area and graduated from Woodland High School.
Meek joined the Marine Corps during WWII and spent three years in the Pacific Theater on amphibious carriers.
Upon returning from the War, Meek purchased his first truck and during this time, met Betty Siess Meek, to whom he was marriage 23 years.
Together they built what would become Meek Trucking Company.
In the Yuba-Sutter Flood of 1955 Meek carried people to safety on his truck with them hanging from the cab and cattle racks, prior to the bridge over the Feather River collapsing.
Never one to brag, this was discovered only when family uncovered the news clipping and photo from the paper.
In 1970, Meek moved to Lake Almanor where he would spend the rest of his life.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Meherin Meek of Santa Rosa and Mary Bowlin, of Lake Almanor, two grandsons, Matthew and Joey Bowlin of Texas as well as his brother Jack Meek of Woodland and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by wife Sally Simas Meek and survived by former wife Ella Wetzel Meek.
Harold enjoyed debating politics with whomever would participate and always loved talking "trucks."

MEEKINS
Richard Alan Meekins
Richard Alan Meekins died at Woodland Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004 at age 51.
Mr. Meekins was born Oct. 18, 1952 in New Brunswick, N.J. had been a Yolo County resident for 16 years.
He was a graduate of JP McCaskey High School in Lancaster, Pa. and University of Pennsylvania, and attended Yuba College.
He had worked for Gus's Subs and Bickel's Potatoe Chip Company in Pennsylvania.
Survivors include Mr. Meekins' parents, Richard W. and Hannah Meekins of Lancaster, Pa.; his wife, Earla Meekins of Woodland; his daughter Kalynn Meekins; his stepdaughter Deena Watson and her husband Chris and grandson Gage Watson all of Woodland.
Services: A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Woodland Cemetery.
McNary's Chapel of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
MEHLHAFF
Harold Edgar Mehlhaff
Longtime Lodi resident Harold Edgar Mehlhaff died March 5, 2005, at the University Retirement Community Health Center after a short battle with cancer. He was 80 years old.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of his life at 2 p.m. Friday, March 18, at Lodi Grace Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will be private.
Born in Upham, N.D., on Aug. 15, 1924, to Fredrick and Bertha Mehlhaff, he moved with his parents to Lodi in 1935, where he attended grade school. He returned to North Dakota to attend high school, where he met and marriage Mary Evelyn Allen on June 9, 1946.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Yellowstone National Park en route to permanently relocating back to Lodi. They operated a dairy on Turner Road prior to his 35 years of service with General Mills of Lodi.
He was a longtime active member of Lodi Grace Presbyterian Church and its ministry. He was a member of the Lodi Owls Club, Lodi Community Concert Association, Sons in Retirement (Lodi Winers), and the Northern California Gold Association.
He also was a longtime Boy Scout leader in Lodi, influencing the lives of many Lodi youths. He enjoyed travel, fishing, golf and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary Evelyn.
He is survived by his two sons, Michael Mehlhaff of Susanville and Kelly Mehlhaff of Davis.
He is further survived by six grandchildren, Christopher Mehlhaff of Thetford, England; Matthew Mehlhaff of Reno, Nev.; Patrick Mehlhaff of Tacoma, Wash.; Sara Mehlhaff of Sacramento; Justin Mehlhaff of Santa Cruz and Richelle Mehlhaff of Davis; and two great-grandchildren, Nichole and Peter Mehlhaff of England.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the University Retirement Community Health Center staff and to Yolo Hospice for their gentle and loving care during his illness.

MEJIA
Maria Ramos Mejia (1st of 2 obits.)
Mrs. Maria Ramos Mejia passed away at Stollwood Convalescent Hospital on Nov. 27, 2005 at the age of 72.
She was born in Chavinda, Michoacan, Mexico on Oct. 16, 1933 to Jesus and Dolores (Ibarra) Mejia, both natives of Michoacan, Mexico.
Both parents have preceded her in death. Maria had been a resident of Yolo County for 26 years.
A homemaker and wife of Rafael Ramos for 49 years, Mrs. Mejia was a dedicated mother and grandmother who was admired by her family.
She loved her family, flowers, gardening and shared holidays with her husband, children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Mejia was a devoted member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Woodland.
Surviving Maria are her 11 children: Lupe Arizaga and husband Arturo, Maria Gutierrez and husband Jose, Rafael Ramos Jr., Esperanza Aguirre and husband Hilario, Rosa Garibaldo and husband Juan, Fernando Ramos and wife Patricia, Josefina Carrillo and husband Juan, Miguel Ramos and wife Jamie, all of Woodland, Martha Vigil and husband Genaro of Loomis, Ernesto Ramos and wife Lupe of Sacramento and Maria De Jesus Bustos and husband Jose Luis of La Habra.
Also surviving are her three brothers, Jose, Carlos and Antonio and a sister, Bertha; and 35 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband Rafael Ramos who passed away Oct. 5, 2001, her parents, three sisters, Jesus, Otilia and Genoveva and three brothers, Nicolas, Ignacio and Ramiro.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5 at Kraft Bros. Funeral Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland, with a rosary to be recited at 7 o'clock the same evening.
A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland with interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Woodland.
Father Enrique Alvarez will officiate.

McQUAID
Gloria McQuaid
Gloria McQuaid died at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Towson, Md., Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at age 79.
Born April 23, 1924, in New York, N.Y., Mrs. McQuaid had been a Yolo County resident for many years. She was the daughter of the late David and Beatrice (Edelwein) Kojan.
Survivors include her husband, Richard W. McQuaid; daughters, Jeanne M. Cox, Judith A. DeMott, and Mary Janet Jewell; sister, Selma Levitt; brother, Eugene Kojan; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

McSHANE
Gene L. McShane
Gene Lawrence McShane died Oct. 14, 2000. Born July 27, 1909, in Red Bluff to Bertha Eachus and James W. McShane, he was 91 years old.
He lived with his family in Sutter Creek before moving to Sacramento in 1917. He was marriage to Jessie Fremont Clayton on Oct. 23, 1932.
He graduated from The Frank Wiggins Trade School in Los Angeles in 1938, receiving a certificate in air conditioning and refrigeration. During World War II he worked in the ship yards in Richmond, and after the war he worked for York Pacific Refrigeration in Sacramento and Chico.
In 1950, he began work in the refrigeration department at UC Davis. The family moved to Davis in 1951, and he continued to work for the university until his retirement in 1974.
He was preceded in death in 1997 by his wife, and he continued to live in Davis until his death. He was a member of Athens Lodge 228, of the Masonic Order of California. The McShanes were long-time members of the Fidelis Fellowship of the Oak Park Methodist Church, Sacramento, and were charter members of the Ark Mariners of the Davis Community Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Love, and her husband John, of New Jersey; his son, Michael, and wife Terri, of Colorado; and his two granddaughters, Kelly Love of Davis and Jennifer Love of Minnesota.
A memorial service was held this morning at Davis Community Church. The family requests that any remembrances be made to Yolo Hospice.
