Bethel (Brown) Griffith
Bethel (Brown) Griffith died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at age 82.
Born Sept. 1, 1919, in Woodland, Mrs. Griffith was the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Ethelinda (Bourn) Brown. She had been a resident of Pendleton and Eugene, Ore. She was a Woodland High School graduate. She earned her bachelor's degree in economics at University of California. She was a member of P.E.O., Friends of the Library and volunteered at Jacobs Gallery, Hult Center in Eugene, Ore. She was also a member of P.E.O., Woodland, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Woodland Shakespeare Club, Woodland Opera House Guild and the Yolo County Historical Society. She was recognized and commended for outstanding service by Yolo County Board of Supervisors, Yolo County Historical Museum Board of Directors, Woodland Shakespeare Club, and St. Luke's Episcopal Church. She was also recognized for 50 years of loyalty to Prytanean and the University of California. According to her family members, "she loved flowers, gardening, arts and crafts."
Mrs. Griffith is survived by her daughter, Kathleen "Kathy" G. Madsen of Boulder, Colo.; son, William "Bill" M. Griffith Jr. of Eugene, Ore.; brother, Kenneth E. Brown of Woodland; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, William M. Griffith, in May of 1983; and brother, Robert S. Brown.
A memorial service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Woodland.

STOLL
Andrew James Stoll
Andrew James Stoll died at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento, Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at the age of 10 hours old.
Survivors include his parents Gary Andrew and Stephanie (Aubuchon) Stoll, of Sacramento; brother Dylan Akins, of Sacramento; grandmother Debbie Aubuchon-Gentle, of Woodland; uncles Desmond Stoll, of Sacramento, and Jeremy, Clifford and Albert Aubuchon of Woodland; great grandparents Connie "Nan" Madrigal, of Woodland and Clifford and Diane Wells, of Burney.
The family requests memorials be directed to Shriners Children's Hospital, 2425 Stockton Boulevard, Sacramento, 95817. Arrangements are under the direction of Kraft Bros.
Services: A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
STOLTZ
Edwin Lee Stoltz
Edwin Lee Stoltz died on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at age 87 in Davis.
Mr. Stoltz had been a resident of Yolo County for four years. He was born on Aug. 1, 1916, in Sterling, Colo.
Mr. Stoltz served in the U.S. Army Air corps during world War II in the Aleutian Islands and in the South Pacific, where he was involved in the fighting in and around the Mariana Islands. He later worked as an aircraft mechanic at McClellan Air Force Base where he eventually retired. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Roseville.
Mr. Stoltz is survived by his wife and by sisters, Dorothy Gould and Marjorie Scott, both of Woodland, as well as by many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his parents, Edwin W. and Gladys (Williams) Stoltz.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kraft Bros. Chapel in Woodland. Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
Services: A funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 12, at Kraft Bros. Chapel in Woodland. There was no visitation prior to the service. A private burial was held at Monument Hill Memorial Park.
KAVANAUGH
Kathleen Margaret Kavanaugh
Kathleen M. Kavanaugh of Lander, Wyo., died Saturday, July 16, 2005 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyo. due to complications from congestive heart failure. She was 52.
Kathy was born in Billings, Mont. on April 19, 1953 to LeVerne and Marie (Harris) Kavanaugh. She attended schools in Billings, graduating from Billings West High in 1971.
She went on to The College of Coiffure Art, and in 1974 moved to Wibaux. Kathleen marriage Richard Fox in 1978 and they moved to Spearfish, S.D. and then to Jackson, Wyo. where she began working for Mini Mart. From there she was transferred to Lander, Wyo. and eventually went to work for Pit Stop where she worked for many years where she will be remembered for her teasing manner, her wonderful sense of humor and big smile. Most recently, she worked for Community Entry Service tending to the needs of others, stating that she "finally found out what she wanted to do for the rest of her life."
Kathy is survived by her mother, Marie Schaff, brothers Dan (Pam) Kavanaugh of Billings and David (Cherie) Kavanaugh of Uniontown, Wash.; sister Kristi (Miles) Bristow and her three beloved nephews, Brad Winkfield, David and Danny Bristow, all of Woodland; and Richard Fox of Lander, her ex-husband with whom she remained friends. She also is survived by her dog, her 'baby' Molly, and several cats that she loved and sheltered from a certain life on the street.
She was preceded in death by her father, LeVerne Kavanaugh and her stepfather, Albert Schaff.
Kathy will be remembered for her love of family, friends and animals. She was actively involved in the Pet Connection in Lander, making donations even if she needed the money herself. She was an avid reader, crochet artist, and loving and loyal daughter, sister and friend. She will be missed by many.
Kathy requested that she be cremated, and her ashes buried
in Billings with her father at Holy Cross Cemetery. Bustard's Funeral Home of Casper and Dahl Funeral Chapel of Billings helped with the arrangements. A private inurnment has taken place, but those wishing to honor her memory and her life are invited to make donations to their local humane societies.
KEARNEY
Minerva J. Kearney
Minerva Justine Kearney of Folsom/Slaughterhouse died on Feb. 14, 2000. Born on Dec. 4, 1913, to Sacramento County pioneers Edmond Payen and Jessie Woodard Payen, she was 86.
She was the granddaughter of California Gold Rush-era immigrants.
She attended Carson Creek School in rural Folsom and graduated from Folsom High School in 1932. She graduated from Sacramento Junior College.
She was a resident of the Dixon/Davis area from 1934 to 1986, where she worked side by side with her husband of 53 years in the family dairy farm and later the beef cattle business.
She was the loving mother of David and Mark Kearney of Vacaville, Frederick and Carol Kearney of Folsom, Naudine Ortega of North Highlands and Linda Fortis of Dixon. She was the loving grandmother of Mel Ortega, Miriam Tyson and Gino and Tasha Fortis. She was the great-grandmother of four. She was the widow of Charles Kearney, who died in 1987.
She will be missed by her sister, Genevieve Caples of Sacramento and her brother and rock-gathering companion, Louis Payen of Folsom.
She died suddenly but appropriately on St. Valentine's Day, family members said. She was a very caring and giving person.
Many nieces and nephews enjoyed vacations on the ranch with Aunt Minerva and Uncle Charlie. She even made work seem like fun. On a number of occasions, she was there for family members in need of help.
Even after her children were grown, she was there for them. She helped nurse some of her adult children back to health after serious illnesses. She helped nurture the grandchildren into mature adults and even helped those who called her great-grandma with their homework.
She was an active member of the Folsom Trinity Episcopal Church and attended many of their functions up until her death.
In addition to her generous nature, she will be remembered for her delicious vegetable gardens, her beautiful flower gardens and her wonderful spring picnics, family members said.
Services will be held at noon Friday at St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Davis. Arrangements are under the direction of the Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends make donations to their favorite charity.
STONE
Linda La Rue Stone
Linda La Rue Stone died at Woodland Skilled Nursing Facility Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005 at age 58. Miss Stone was born Aug. 13, 1946 in Heavener, Okla. She had been a Yolo County resident for 44 years. She graduated from Woodland High School in 1964 and from Heald Business College in 1967. She was employed for 20 years as a family support officer at the District Attorney's Office of Yolo County. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Survivors include Miss Stone's brothers, William David Stone and his wife Grace of Encinitas and Wilson Eugene Stone of Washington state; her nieces, Robyn Sandoval, Jamie Sandoval Lucero and her husband Rudy of Woodland, Denise Brenner and Debbie Dixon of Detroit; her brother-in-law, Richardo Sandoval; her grandniece, Amaya Sandoval; her grandnephew, Isaac Sandoval all of Woodland and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ellen Lucille Stone; her father, Walter William Stone; her sister, Nella Kay Stone Sandoval and her brother, Mark Stone.
Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18 at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
PLARISAN
Isidor Z. Plarisan
Isidor Zafra Plarisan died Sept. 21, 2000, at his Madison home. Born May 15, 1901, in Minglanilla, Cebu, Philippine Islands, he was 99.
A resident of Yolo County for 55 years, he immigrated to the Hawaiian Islands in 1924. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Magellan Post 604 for 55 years, the Sacramento Visayan Club, the Sacramento Pongosinan Club, the Filipino Association of Sacramento and Vicinity and the Madison International Club. He was the last member of the Filipino Cowboy Gan of Sacramento and Vicinity.
Plarisan was an avid fisherman and loved to dance and travel to Reno.
He is survived by his wife, Bernardina Lujan Plarisan of Madison; his daughter, Regina L. Plarisan of Honolulu; and his son, Isidor Plarisan Jr. of Roseville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Regina Zafra Plarisan and Pablo Plarisan.
The vigil will be today at 6:30 p.m. at St. Martin's Church in Esparto. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Martin's, with interment to follow at the Capay Cemetery.
