HARTWIG

Ruth Eva (Singleton) Hartwig (1st obituary of 2)

Ruth Eva (Singleton) Hartwig died at her Woodland home Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at age 87.

Born Jan. 11, 1916, in Ducor, Mrs. Hartwig was the daughter of the late Anne (Christmas) and Claude Singleton. She had been a Yolo County resident for 75 years. She moved her family to the Winters area in 1928. She was a 1934 Winters High School graduate. She had been a student body president and was a class valedictorian. Mrs. Hartwig attended UC Davis, then transferred to UC Berkeley, graduating with a degree in English. She got her first teaching job in Esparto, where she met and marriage her husband in 1940. After 24 years of teaching she retired from the Woodland School District in 1976. She was a member of the Yolo Flier's Club.

Surviving is her husband of 62 years, Kurt Hartwig; sons, Bill Hartwig and wife Vicki all of Woodland and Bob Hartwig of San Luis Obispo; daughter, Jane Struble, and husband Eric of Newcastle; grandchildren, Stephanie Campos of Woodland, Jennifer Tafoya of Redwood City and Lena and Dietrich Struble of Newcastle; and great-grandson, Michael Campos of Woodland. The family requests memorials be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617; or the Northern California Cancer Society, 1765 Challenge Way, Sacramento, 95815, in her behalf. Arrangements are under the direction of Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland.

Services: A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 County Road 22, Woodland.

Ruth Eva (Singleton) Hartwig (2nd obituary of 2)

Ruth Eva (Singleton) Hartwig passed away at her Woodland home, surrounded by her family on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003. She was born on Jan. 11, 1916 in Ducor, California, to Anne (Christmas) and Claude Singleton.

A resident of Yolo County for 75 years. Ruth moved with her family to the Winters area in 1928, graduating from Winters High School in 1934, where she had been elected student body president and was class valedictorian. Mrs. Hartwig attended the University of California at Davis, when it was still a small agricultural college, then transferred to the University of California at Berkeley, graduating with a degree in English. After completing her teaching credential at San Francisco State College, Ruth got her first teaching job in Esparto, and it was there, in 1940, that she met and marriage her husband of nearly 63 years, Kurt Hartwig. She taught elementary school for a total of 24 years, later retiring from the Woodland School District and the California Teacher's Association in 1976.

Mrs. Hartwig enjoyed numerous hobbies throughout her life, and was a member of the Yolo Flier's Club. She loved playing a friendly game of bridge, square dancing, bowling, and golf. However, her gardening and her dog, "Fritz, " were her special pastimes that brought the most pleasure to her life. She was admired for her strength and active life. Above all she was a loving mother and wife, always giving practical and loving care and advice to those around her. A person who was always quick to smile and laugh, she will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Surviving is her husband Kurt Hartwig, her son Bill Hartwig and wife Vicki all of Woodland, her son Bob Hartwig of San Luis Obispo, and daughter Jane Struble, and husband Eric of Newcastle. Four grandchildren survive Mrs. Hartwig: Stephanie Campos of Woodland, Jennifer Tafoya of Redwood City and Lena and Dietrich Struble of Newcastle. One great-grandson, Michael Campos of Woodland also survives.

No visitation is scheduled prior to services. A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 County Road 22, Woodland, Ca. 95695. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mrs. Hartwig's memory be made to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, Ca. 95617; or the Northern California Cancer Society, 1765 Challenge Way, Sacramento, Ca 95815.

Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.

McCLISH

Gale Auradou McClish

Gale Auradou McClish passed away on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was born Sept. 30, 1931 in Richmond. A long-time resident of Winters, he was the eldest son of James and Elizabeth McClish. He was the widower of Sara Louise Hayden-McClish.

Mr. McClish attended UC Davis where he received his masters in Agricultural Economics. He was a Lieutenant in the US Army at Fort Dix in New Jersey. His love of world wide travel begun with his trip to Paris, France as an Eagle Scout.

Mr. McClish instilled in his daughters his love of gardening and books. He built a sailboat and took his family sailing when the girls were young. He retired in Honolulu where he enjoyed playing Santa Claus for nursing homes and volunteered as a driver for chemotherapy patients.

Mr. McClish is survived by his brother, Donald McClish of Winters and his sister Nancy Newkom of Yuba City. He had three daughters, Lauri Silva of Winters, Lisa Humble of Westminster, Colorado and Kathi Peterson of Juneau, Alaska. He has two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. at the Pioneer Presbyterian Church.

The family requests donations to be made to the American Diabetes Association.

McCLOSKEY

Julia daRoza Kinloch McCloskey

Julia daRoza Kinloch McCloskey passed away on May 16, 2002, in Winters at the home of Joe and Janet Aguiar at the age of 94.

One of 11 children, she was born in Hong Kong, China on Aug. 9, 1907. At 3 years of age, the family moved to the Philippines, where she grew up, marriage and had her children. She came to the United States with her immediate family in April 1945 on the first ship of civilian passengers to leave the Philippines after the reoccupation by American troops, just before the end of war was declared. Since 1945, most of her life was spent in Los Gatos/San Jose area. She moved to Winters last February.

Mrs. daRoza Kinloch McCloskey is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Janet and Joe Aguiar of Winters and Joyce Snyder of Fullerton; sisters, Maria Tomasello and Dolores Flaherty of Daytona Beach, Florida; daughter-in-law, Barbara Kinloch of Winters; son-in-law, Frederick Snyder of Fullerton; grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer Gianola of Winters, Piper Gianola and Brian Horn of Winters, Mitchell Gianola of Crescent City, Lee Anne Gianola and Peter Chinner of Maui, Hawaii, Pamela Gianola of Crescent City, Jeanette and Dennis Kinloch Skinner of Minot, North Dakota, James Kinloch Jr. of Seattle, Washington, Susan Kinloch of Roseville, Steven and Jennifer Kinloch of Roseville, Jason Snyder of Fullerton: 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, James Kinloch in 1948 and Bernard McCloskey in 1980, and also by a son, James Kinlock of Winters.

A memorial mass will be said at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Friday, May 24, at 1 p.m. Remembrances may be made in Mrs. daRoza Kinloch McClockey's name to the Winters Healthcare Foundation, 7 Main Street, Winters, CA 95694.

McCLURE.

Ruth Olivia (Porter) McClure

Ruth Olivia (Porter) McClure died at age 94 on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, in Woodland. She had been a resident of Yolo County for four years. A native of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. McClure was born on Feb. 1, 1909.

She was graduated from Olympia Business School and was a 58-year, lifetime, member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She worked for the California Department of Motor Vehicles.

Mrs. McClure is survived by her sons, Charles K. Henley of Bookings, Ore., and Earl E. Henley of Woodland; sister, Dorothy Houston of Chahalis, Wash., 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kelly McClure; a son, Leslie K. Henley; and daughter, Bonnie Dunlap.

Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at McNary's Funeral Chapel in Woodland.

HASEK

Nancy Jane Hasek

Nancy Jane Hasek died unexpectedly April 27, 2005, due to complications from ovarian cancer. She was 75.

Born Sept. 18, 1929, she was the only child of Genevieve and Richard Harold Loudon. She grew up in San Francisco and attended all 12 years of elementary school and high school at Star of the Sea.

She then attended UC Berkeley, graduating with a degree in English in 1952. She taught school in Castro Valley for a brief time and followed this with other jobs before marrying Raymond Hasek in 1957.

After her children were grown, she went back to school and studied at Sacramento State University where she earned a master's degree in speech pathology. She worked for the Davis school system for several years, followed by work with a private firm in Woodland.

Her family said many former students and their parents still remember her from her days working in the Davis schools.

After retirement, while on a trip to the west coast of Ireland, she and her husband found the ruins of the longbarn and boyhood home of her grandfather, Patrick O'Donnell, who had immigrated to the United States in 1873. Through her love of Ireland, the homesite was purchased and a summer home was built on the land. She and Ray spent 13 summers in the Irish home where they discovered a whole new family.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Raymond Hasek of Davis; daughter Mary Egle and her husband Darrell of West Sacramento; and son Kenneth Hasek and his wife Kathie of San Luis Obispo.

She is further survived by her grandchildren, Emily and Derek Egle of West Sacramento, Taylor and Tanner Hasek of San Luis Obispo, and Antigone Jones and her husband Mike of Red Bluff; and Pam Fricia of San Luis Obispo, the mother of her daughter-in-law Kathie.

Private services were held May 2 at the Star of the Sea Church in San Francisco.

HASEY

Marc L. Hasey

Marc L. Hasey died in Esparto Monday, June 14, 2004, at age 55.

Born June 23, 1948, in Augusta, Maine, Mr. Hasey had been a Yolo County resident for 35 years. He was the son of the late Bobby and Ann Hasey.

Survivors include his twin sister, Marcia Smith of New Hampshire; and brother, John Hasey of Alaska; and 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carole Ballard.

The family requests memorials be directed to American Cancer Society; or to the charity of donor's choice.

Services: A memorial service is scheduled at 2 p.m. today, Friday, June 18, at Esparto Community Church, with a gathering to follow at the Esparto Scout Cabin. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.
