Mary Catherine Snetsinger
Mary Catherine Snetsinger died in her Woodland home Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at age 68.
Born Oct. 23, 1935, in Heber Springs, Ark., Mrs. Snetsinger had been a Yolo County resident for 31 years. She attended schools in Atwater and Livingston and went into banking after graduation. She worked for Bank of America for 33 years, retiring in 1998. She was a member of the Yolo Fliers Club.
Survivors include her husband, Ben Snetsinger of Woodland; daughter, Sharon Miles and husband Mike of Woodland; granddaughters, Amy and Abigail Miles; and numerous cousins; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Amy Presley; daughter, Sharla Snetsinger; and brother, Tom Presley.
The family requests memorials be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95616. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland.
Services: There will be a private service. Burial will be at Monument Hill Memorial Park, Woodland.
PAUL
John Kenward Paul
He was born in St. Louis to the late Della Kenward and Austin Joseph Paul. He was educated at St. Louis University, and the University of Missouri at Columbia, where he received his doctorate. He completed his residency at Northwestern and Baylor universities, and he specialized in child and adolescent psychiatry at Harvard University.
His birth date was not available.
A retired commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve, he and his family lived in many places around the United States, including Lexington, Mass., and Monterey, finally settling in Davis in 1987.
A physician in Sacramento, he dedicated his heart and soul to serving the mentally ill through his private practice, and his work with CPS Sierra Vista Hospital, Sacramento Methadone Clinic and Mercy General Hospital.
He was the medical director for El Hogar Inc., a local clinic dedicated to serving the underprivileged of Sacramento, his family said. Paul was thankful for the opportunity to have worked with Dr. Dave Smith, Dr. Christine Collins, Dr. Robert Franklin and other professionals, colleagues and true friends.
"He stood as the paragon of generosity, sacrificing his entire life for the welfare of his family and friends, " his family said. "Living a life centered on giving, he forever poured his mind, body and soul into those around him.
"A selfless father and husband, a brilliant and sincere doctor, he touched the lives of his patients, family and friends, all of whom will forever miss him."
He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Judith Anne Blackwell Paul.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Wakefield Paul and her children Shane and Nigel; his sister, Julie Perez; and seven children, Elizabeth, Kristy, Sean, Ryan, Meghan, Joshua and Alexandria; as well as his extended family including a brother- and sister-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church, 14th and B streets in Davis. A reception will follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Paul's name to the American Cancer Society, 350 Alhambra Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95816.

BROWNE
Patricia Browne
Patricia Browne died Monday, May 2, 2005. Born June 15, 1917, she was 87 years old.
Browne and her husband, Charles, moved to Davis in 1945 and lived in the same home for 55 years. The couple ran Rogers Dry Goods Store for many years, and Patricia Browne retired as assistant postmaster in 1982.
She is survived by her daughters, Rae McDaniel and Sharon Browne of Davis; Judy Browne of San Anselmo; and Sally Browne of Martinez; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1994; and a granddaughter, Michelle, in 1995.
A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817.
SNIDER
Robert Meade Snider
Robert Meade Snider, a 23-year Davis resident, died June 29, 2004, at Sutter Davis Hospital after a lengthy battle with kidney disease. He was 60.
Born Feb. 6, 1944, in San Jose, Snider proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk during Vietnam. He worked for Pacific Bell Telephone Co. as a test technician for more than 30 years. He was described by his family as a "jack of all trades" and a very "silly man." He was an avid bicyclist and studied geology and volcanoes as a hobby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Elizabeth Snider, and his brother, Ralph Snider.
He is survived by his children, Casey Anne Snider of Davis, Stephanee Elizabeth Guidino and her husband Jake of Carmichael and David Richard Snider of Davis; grandchildren, Andrea Guidino and Michelle Casey Snider; brothers, Ron Snider of Colorado and Terry Snider of Manteca; life partner Dorothy Nielsen of Magalia; and the mother of his children, Eileen Sue Snider. He also leaves a stepson, Nicholas Alexander Nielsen of Santa Rosa, and his faithful dog, Oreo.
Private family services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Chapel.
SNOOK
Cheryl Anne Snook
Cheryl Anne Snook died at Woodland Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at age 58.
Born July 31, 1945, in Fresno, Mrs. Snook had been a Yolo County resident for three years. She was a former member of Old time Fiddlers Association and Powder River Gang. She was also a member of Mormon Church in Veneta, Ore. She was a cashier prior to becoming disabled.
Survivors include her husband, Lyle Snook of Woodland; children, Tammy, Charlie, Mark, Brian, and Khristina Pruitt, and Troy and Kenneth Snook; brother, Lloyd Davis and wife Paula; sisters, Ethel Long and husband Tom, and Catherine Davis; aunt, Ellen Cheney; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services: There is a family gathering on Sunday, Jan. 11. Ashes returned to the family.
BRUENING
Kenneth Ervin Bruening
Kenneth Ervin Bruening died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004 at Woodland Memorial Hospital at age 68.
Mr. Bruening was born Sept. 13, 1936 in Los Angeles. He had been a Yolo County resident for five years. He was an Air Force veteran and had worked as a maintenance man.
Survivors include Mr. Bruening’s sons, Ervin, Tom and Roger Bruening and his sister, Lois Boice.
Services: Respecting the wishes of Mr. Bruening, no services are scheduled. Interment will be at the Veteran’s Section of the Woodland Cemetery. North Sacramento Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
BRUGGMAN
Marjorie Reba Bruggman
Marjorie Reba Bruggman died Dec. 24, 2005 at her home in Robbins at age 81.
Mrs. Bruggman was born Feb. 28, 1924. She was a 58 year resident of Robbins. She was employed as a secretary for 20 years.
Survivors include Mrs. Bruggman’s daughters, Barbra Curtis and Norma Palmer; her son, Neil Bruggman; her grandchildren, Josh and Shaun Bruggman, Mike and David Palmer, Donald and Kimberly Curtis, Robert Miller and Heather Millard; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Bruggman; her daughter, Pat Miller; and her parents, Sal and Melba Howe.
The family requests memorials in Mrs. Bruggman’s name be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617.
