PEERS: Thelma E.
passed away Friday July 25th, 2003 at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Fergus, age 86 years. Dear wife of the late Kenneth Peers (2000). Survived by her children Nina Merkley, Douglas Peers and his wife Louisette, and Robert Peers and his wife Marilyn. Dear grandmother of William Merkley and his wife Crystal, Walter Merkley, Stacey Gregorich and her husband Boris, Tina Ng and her husband Albert, Tracy King and her husband Robert, Thelma Marie Peers, Alexander Peers and Benjamin Peers. Dear great grandmother of David Merkley. Also survived by her sisters Lois Burke of Amherst, Nova Scotia and Millie Brownell, of Sackville, New Brunswick and her sister-in-laws Jean Scott of Sackville, New Brunswick, Gwen Peers of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and her brother-in-law Burt Peers of Montreal. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, her sister Iva Langille, her brothers Russell, Cecil, and Lloyd Scott and her sister-in-law Ada Peers.
Friends and relatives may call at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 280 St. David St. S., Fergus, on Monday July 28, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday July 29th, 2003 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Stephen Huntley officiating. Interment in Belsyde Cemetery, Fergus. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall of Melville United Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Groves Memorial Community Hospital as expressions of sympathy.

GALLAGHER, THOMAS (TOM Sr.)
Following a lengthy illness for 2 years and 4 months with cancer at the Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus on April 23, 2002. Tom Gallagher of Fergus in his 64th year. Beloved husband of Gladys Gallagher (nee Nimmo). Loving father of Tom and his wife Debbie of Fergus, Stephen and his wife Mona of Kitchener, Jacqueline and her husband Conrad Sawyer of Fergus, and Gerald and his wife Christine of Fergus. Tom is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Stephenie, Jennifer, Kyle, Ashley, Samantha, Kiesha, Christina, Sarah, Cody, Shelby and Dylan and one great grand daughter Chloe. Dear brother of Sadie Dunn of Scotland and brother in law of Anna Gallagher of Scotland. Loved by his mother in law Florence Nimmo of Fergus. Pre-deceased by brother Neil and sister Mary and brother in law Joseph Kasperica and also his parents Thomas and Mary Gallagher. The family will receive their friends at the GRAHAM A. GIDDY FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 280 ST. DAVID ST. S. FERGUS. From 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Friday April 26. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church 460 St. George St. West in Fergus on Saturday April 27th at 11:00. Followed by Cremation. The R.C.L. Br 275 Fergus will conduct a service of remembrance at the funeral home Fri at 6:45 P.M. also parish prayers will be said at the funeral home Fri. at 8:00 P.M. The family would appreciated memorial donations to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Care Partners in Fergus.

POSTAR, THOMAS JOHN (TOM).
Suddenly due to the result of a motor vehicle accident in Centre Wellington on Tuesday August 26th, 2003. Tom Postar of Fergus age 16 years. Beloved and cherished son of Carol (nee Rosebrugh) and John Postar of Fergus. Loved grandson of Anna Voll of Grimsby, Roy of Renfrew and Lorraine of Grimsby Loved nephew of Mary Scobie and her husband Bruce of Grimsby, Linda McKennedy of Waterloo, Brian Rosebrugh of Alberta, Ken Rosebrugh of Moscoe, Russia, Peter Voll of Whitby and Pat McPhee of Pickering. Tom will be sadly missed by his cousins Dean, Michael, Robert and Debra. Tom will be lovingly remembered by a host of other family and his many friends. Tom is pre-deceased by his grandparents Thomas and Katherine Postar and uncle Frank and his wife Katherine Matic. The family will receive their friends at the GRAHAM A. GIDDY FUNERAL AND CHAPEL 280 ST. DAVID ST. S. FERGUS. From 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Thursday. WARDELL: Valerie
passed away peacefully at Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus on Friday May 31st ,2002 in her 71st year. Lovingly remembered by her children Nancie Dickie and Phil of Kitchener, Jeff Wardell and Glenna of Fergus and her sister Barb Lockhart of Toronto. Beloved grandmother to Chris and Erica Dickie. Predeceased by her husband Howie, father Edward, mother Daisy, brother Stan and sister Pearl. Val was a retired employee of GSW. At Val's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service. A celebration of Val's life will take place on Sunday June 9th, 2002 in the fellowship hall at Melville United Church in Fergus, from 2-4 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society - Relay for Life (June 14th, 2002) would be appreciated by the family. Suddenly on Wednesday April 2, 2003 at The Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Fergus. Vera Brown (Franklin) of Fergus formerly of Toronto, in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late Ted Brown (1957). Loving mother of Judy and her husband Tom Daniel of Fergus and David and his wife Joyce of Fergus. Loved grandmother of Andy and Patrick both of Fergus. Dear sister of Dorothy Downey of New Market, Shirley Bailey of Schomberg and Herb and his wife Tillie of Burlington. Vera is also survived by a number of nieces , nephews and other family members. FERRIS: Veronica (nee Bailey)
Peacefully on Sunday June 22, 2003, at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, surrounded by family and close friends, in her 57th year. A loving mother to Deanna Bayne and her husband André Seow of Vancouver B.C., Becky O'Keeffe and her husband Michael of Elora, Darryl Bayne of Fergus and Jackie and Claire Ferris of Fergus. A wonderful grandmother to Casey and Daley O'Keeffe of Elora. Dear sister of Maureen Bailey of Delta B.C., Michael Bailey and his wife Lori of Waterloo, Marie Knell and her husband Mike of Kitchener, Barbara Ferris and her husband Jim of Ottawa, Kate Bailey and her partner Carl McCreary of Waterloo and Margy Darrah and her husband Dean of Fergus. She will also be lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews, Chris, Ryan and Brandon Bailey, Dylan, Zoe and Frank Ferris, and Bailey and Scott Darrah, along with her many friends and neighbours. She will also be missed by Carmel and Hal Armstrong and family of Fergus. Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Marie Bailey and her brother Ronald Bailey of Fergus.
Veronica was born in Fergus, where she lived her entire life. Veronica devoted much of her time and energy to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where she served as president of the Catholic Women's League. She was also a member of the Fergus Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She will be warmly remembered for her strength, courage, friendship and sense of humour.
Friends and relatives may call at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 280 St. David St. S., Fergus on Tuesday June 24th, and Wednesday June 25th, 2003, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday June 26th, 2003 at 11:00 AM from St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Fergus. Father Ken Miskiewicz officiating. Interment to follow in St. Mary's-St. Joseph's R.C. Cemetery, Elora. A reception will be held at the R.C.L. Br. #275 Fergus. VLACHOS: Villie (nee Kastris)
Very peacefully at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Fergus, on Friday June 14, 2002 in her 88th year. Villie was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and also owned and operated the Fergus Restaurant from 1935 to 1985. Beloved wife of the late Paul Vlachos (1995). Sadly missed by her sister Patricia Chrisomalis of Oshawa and her brother Bill Kastris of Ajax. Villie is also dearly missed by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents George and Dimitra Kastris. Villie will be sadly missed by her many friends in Fergus.

BEIRNES: Violet Evelyn (Nee Hall)
passed away peacefully at the Wellington Terrace Home for the Aged in Elora on Saturday August 09, 2003, aged 92 years. Dear mother of Shirley Fawcett of Toronto, Ronald and his wife Joan of Calgary, Ernest and his wife Yvonne of Kitchener and Byron and his wife Carol of Belwood. Sadly missed by 23 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Byron (1986), her parents Ernest and Elizabeth Hall, her brothers Albert and Roy, her sisters Edna and Dorothy and her son-in-law Art. Byron and Violet operated the Grocery Store in Elora from 1945 to 1973. Friends and relatives may call at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home and Chapel, 37 Church St., Elora on Tuesday August 12 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held from the Knox Presbyterian Church, Elora on Wednesday August 13 at 2:00 PM. With Rev Kees Vandermey officiating at the service. Interment in Elora Cemetery. A reception will follow the service at the R. C. L. in Elora Memorial donations may be made to Knox Presbyterian Churhc as expressions of sympathy.

MUIR: Walter Drury
Peacefully at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Fergus on Friday October 4th, 2002. Walter D. Muir formerly of R.R. #1 Fergus in his 83rd year. Life member of the Melville United Church in Fergus. Beloved husband of the late Helen Muir (Anderson) for 59 years. Loving father of Jean Muir of Woodstock, Jim of Guelph, Doreen Muir of Barrie and Karen and her husband Grant Smillie of Guelph. Walter will be missed by his grandchildren Richard, David, Helena, Jessica, Tara and Philip and 6 great grandchildren. Dear brother in law of Jean Muir of Parkhill, Margaret Hamilton of Elora and Dorothy Anderson of Elora. Walter is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and other family members. Predeceased by his grandson Andrew, his brothers Ken and Russell and sister-in-law Nancy. The family will receive their friends at the GRAHAM A. GIDDY FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL 280 ST. DAVID ST. S. WILLIAMS (HENRY) WALTER.
Following a number of years of convalescence at the Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus on Wednesday September 4th, 2002. Walter Williams of Fergus formerly of Beaver Ave, Toronto in his 82 year. Dear brother of Margaret and her husband John Alliston of Fergus. Loved uncle of Virginia, Patricia, Jim, Bradley and Guy. Walter will also be missed by his sister in law Georgina Williams of Toronto. Pre-deceased by his brothers Norman and Gordon. Walter was a employee and drove bus and subway for the T.T.C. for over 33 years. He also served in the Royal Canadian Navy during the second world war and his last ship was the H.M.C.S. Lindsay. The family will receive their friends at the GRAHAM A. GIDDY FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL. 280 ST. DAVID ST. S. FERGUS. From 7-9 P.M. on Friday September 6th. Complete service will be held in the chapel on Saturday September 7th at 2:00 P. M. with Pastor Peter Lisinski officiating at the service. Interment will be held in the family plot in Park Lawn Cemetery in Toronto on Tuesday September 10th. Remembrance to the Groves Hospital would be appreciated by the family.

SHELLINGTON, WARD LESLIE,
October 3, 1939 - April 5, 2003. Peacefully passed away in his 64th year at Punta Gorda, Florida his winter home area. Ward shared his life's dreams with his wife of 40 years Diann. His loved sons Kevyn and wife Jen and their sons Kyle and Ryan. Andrew and his special friend Pam. Ward was predeceased by his parents Orville L. and Ilah (Hearns) Shellington of Hamilton. Ward was a 1958 graduate of Westdale Secondary School in Hamilton. During his employment of 32 years with Imperial Tobacco in Guelph he completed an apprenticeship program to become an Imperial Maintenance Mechanic. Later years found him a Technical Co-ordinator spending time in Germany to oversee the high speed equipment being built and then installed in Guelph. Ward enjoyed sports, hockey being his favourite. He served the Guelph Minor Hockey Association in various capacities enjoying the success of the players. During his retirement years, he traveled in his motorhome enjoying the places visited and vistas found. The highlight of their travels was the journey to Alaska where the mountains and flowers displayed their beauty and the rivers beckoned a fisherman - Ward was in his glory. A reception of friends and family and a celebration of Wards life will be held at 2-4 P.M. May 2, 2003 at the Wellington County Museum, Aboyne Room, County Road 18, between Fergus and Elora Ontario. Private Interment has taken place. Memorials in his honour, in lieu of flowers, donations to Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus or the Heart and Stroke Association would be appreciated by the family. Peacefully, in her home in Fergus on Monday May 13th, 2002, Wilhelmina (Billie). Beloved wife of the late John D. (Jack) Walkey, and dearly loved mother of Barbara Karen of Freelton and John (Jack) Robert of Fergus. Loved mother-in-law of Barbara Walkey and John Roberts. Loving grandmother of John and Joanne Roberts, Pamela and Norm MacDonald, Krista and Kevin Hall, Jack and Colleen Walkey, and Michael Walkey. Loving great grandmother of Brooke, Sydney and Brett, Burtis, and Jack. Dear sister-in-law of Norma Love of Toronto. The family will receive friends at the Graham A. Bibby, William Albert (Al)
passed away at London Health Science Centre on Wednesday October 2nd, 2002 at the age of 67 . A Thespian from England, former Camel Jockey, Al was most remembered as a detective with the Minden O.P.P. Loving father of Jane Young and her husband Kelly of Fergus, and Lynn Bibby Smith and her husband Bryan of Fergus. Loving "Al" to his grandchildren Matthew and Joshua. Dear brother of Les and his family, and Jeanne and her family. Remembered by his cousin Colin Tracey and his family. Memorial Service was held at St. James Anglican Church, Fergus, on Saturday October 5th 2002, at 11:00 A.M. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home and Chapel 280 St. David Street, South, Fergus.
