passed away peacefully on Friday, November 12, 2004, in his 68th year. Dear father of Paula Comber (Dave) of Whitby, and Lisa Petrie of Guelph. Grandpa to Gracie. Survived by brothers Adrian & Terry. Predeceased by siblings Rose & James. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph on Friday, November 19, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Leonard Fischer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Guelph Drop-in-Centre or to Alcoholics Anonymous would be appreciated.
Helen Hall
passed away peacefully in Guelph, Ontario on Monday, November 15, 2004 at 91 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Lionel Douglas. Loving mother of Florence and her husband Lloyd Doidge of Vancouver, Barbara and her husband Max Beck of Toronto, and Sheila and her husband Edi Zupanic of Guelph. Dear Nana of David (Jillian), Caroline (Steve), Joseph and Michael and great-grandmother to Kyle, Rachel, Dylan and Brayden. She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. Helen was born in Fredericton, N.B. and after graduating from the University of New Brunswick (B.A.) in 1935, she moved to Vancouver where she received a Social Work Diploma in 1936 from the University of British Columbia. She then worked in Child Welfare in Vancouver and Montreal prior to her marriage in Halifax, in 1941. As the wife of a Canadian Naval Officer, she moved their family between Halifax, Ottawa, Victoria and London, England. She returned to social work in Halifax in 1959 and spent 15 rewarding years there and in Victoria working in child welfare, probation, family services and medical social work. She was particularly talented in working with troubled teenagers. Helen was also an active volunteer in the community. She played key roles in her association with UNICEF, Canadian Mental Health Association, University Women's Club, YM/YWCA and the B.C. Association of Social Workers. After 32 years in Victoria she moved to Guelph, Ontario. A private family service was held at Southwood United Church in Guelph on Friday, November 19th. If desired, memorial donations to UNICEF would be greatly appreciated by the family. The family wishes to thank Dr.C.E. Reed and the staff of LaPointe-Fisher Nursing Home for the care provided by them to our mother.

Cherished mother of Jeanette Fillion (Ed) of Cambridge and Yvonne Mellon (David) of Guelph. Grandmother of Susanne, Clinton, Jennifer and Christopher. Great-grandmother of Kayla, Alyssa and Kai. Fondly remembered by her brother, George Johnson of Meaford. Predeceased by her brother Earl Johnson. Helen was a former member of the Acton Legion Branch No. 197. After a courageous battle with cancer at the Henderson Hospital, Hamilton on Wednesday, November 24, 2004. Marlene (Porter) Hopf at the age of 67 years. Loved wife of Robert A. Hopf for 48 years. Sadly missed by her brother-in-law's, Ronald Elrick of Kitchener, James Elrick (Charlotte) of Kingston and her many nieces and nephews. Lois was a member of the Guelph Stamp Club and the Ochos Rios Kiwanis Club and she will be missed by her many friends in Jamaica. Don was an elder in the Presbyterian Church of Canada, a member of Speed Lodge A.F.&A.M. No. 180 G.R.C. and the Col. John McCrae Branch 234 Royal Canadian Legion. Mr. Tims was Guelph Branch Manager of Morden & Helwig Limited, Adjusters until his retirement in 1981.
