NICHOLSON, Cavell Hugh (attended Crossroads Christian Assembly; former coal miner; 16-year contractor with Veridian) – passed away after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, November 11, 2006, in his 71st year. Loving and devoted husband of Christa of Pontypool. Beloved father of Hugh and his wife Bonnie of Barrie, Bruce and his wife Wendy and their daughter Amber, all of Bowmanville, Belinda of Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Greg and his wife Nancy of Millbrook; Jack Tretter and his wife Mary of Whitby, and Michael Tretter, also of Whitby. Cherished grandfather of Greg, Nicole, Ian, Krystal, Nolan, Katie, Lacey; Caitlin, Brittany, Mallory, Elisa, James, and four great grandchildren. Caring brother of Christine, Florence, Margie, Donald, Gary, the late Melrose, Jack, Shelby, Angus, Theodore, Ann, Richard, Sandra, Lynn, Daniel and the late William Kenneth, and all of their spouses. Predeceased by his parents Archie and Mary Ann of Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. Cavell will be sadly missed by his twin brother Melrose’s children, Tim, Sharlene, Edwin, Carla and Tracey, as well as his many other nieces and nephews totaling 140. Memorial donations to the Durham Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated.

(just north of 401 at the lights; 905-987-3964), for visitation on Monday, November 13, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m., with visiting for one hour prior to the service. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay.

Dear wife of Doug Lain. Loving mother of Shari, Daniel and Wanda, Christina and Michael, and Michael and Melissa. Devoted Grandma to Brennon, Ryan, Amber-Leigh, Dalton, Kaitlin, Chase, Layne, Aidan, and Isabelle. Sister of Donnie and Karen, Judy and Ian, Janice, Randy and Kathy, Laurie and Michael, Wendy, Wayne and Carol, and the late Diana (survived by Wayne). GRAHAM, Lena Winnifred (nee Kimball) – (life-long member of Newcastle United Church; member of the U.C.W. and the Newcastle Village and District Historical Society) – on Sunday, October 22, 2006, in her 88th year, at home in Newcastle. Devoted wife of the late Alfred W. Graham. Grateful for her life and vital presence are her two children, Fred (Melva) and Janet (Bill Hodsoll); her grandchildren Jessica Graham, Adrian Graham (Amanda), and Stephanie Hodsoll, as well as two great-grandchildren Aislinn and Arwen. She is survived by elder brother Jack of Newtonville, and was predeceased by brothers Jared and George Kimball. ROBERTS, Carole Ann (nee Gibson) – stepped from this life into the next after a 14 year battle with breast cancer on October 17, 2006, in her 61st year. She is survived by her husband Keith; daughters, Tanya and Michelle; her brother, James Richard Gibson; and step-father, Arthur Speer. The family would like to extend their thanks to the many care-givers, friends and colleagues who have come alongside us during Carole’s struggles.

Loving husband of the late Elsie Alldread (nee Sandercock). Dear father of Marie Rowe, Jackie Hofstede, Fred Alldread, Judy Wannan, Beverly Jagoda, Debbie Sellers, and step-father of Joyce Stoneburg and Ruth Forget. Sadly missed by his children’s spouses and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Loved brother of Rita McRoberts, Christine Jones, Velma Parker, Betty McHolm, and “Aunt Vera.” Predeceased by several other brothers and sisters, and survived by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Loving Grandma of Jeffrey and Peter Eagleson, Amanda Lauchlan; Wayne, Brian and Wilfred Dart; Dylan, Jessey and Patricia Stares; and great grandmother of Travis, Ricky, Michaela; Annie, Brady, Brianne, Megan, Alec, Bramon, Kaitlyn, and Denis-Jordan.
