Marion Edna Johnson
JOHNSON, Marion Edna (Hine) (Retired secretary with Sir Sandford Fleming College, friend to many at Activity Haven and former volunteer with the Volunteer and Information Bureau) Peacefully after a lengthy illness at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Rogers St. Site, Palliative Care Unit on September 3, 2005 in her 79th year. Loving wife of Vern of 52 years. Cherished and caring mother of Sandra and her husband Bill Simmons of Peterborough, Mike of Lakefield, Angela of Ottawa and Chris and his wife Mary Jane of Peterborough. Dear Grandma of Abby and her husband Martin Piche and Kelly; Jorden; Nicholas and Alex; and Matt. She will be missed forever by her two great grandchildren Megan and Paige. Marion is predeceased by her parents Edna and Frederick Hine of Charlottetown, P.E.I. Memorial donations to the P.R.H.C. – Lab Services would be appreciated and may be made through NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, (1-877-987-3964), with whom arrangements have been entrusted. HANSEN, Allan - peacefully went to be with the Lord at home, surrounded and supported by his family on Thursday, September 1st, 2005, in his 42nd year. Allan was a loving and devoted husband to Alison and an exemplary father to Brett and Jared. Missed by his mother, Maureen Collison, brothers and sisters: Maureen, Shanaaz, Gary, Tyrone, Peter, Patty and Jacqui and their families. ROSS, Shirley G. (nee Morgan) – after a courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville in her 58th year. Loving wife of Alistair (Al) Ross of Courtice. Forever loved and missed by her children Mark Leduke and his wife Sandra of Barrie, Robert Leduke and his wife Sylvia of Germany, Gary Leduke and his wife Nancy Dow of Oakville, Heather Ormonde and her husband Steve of Oshawa, and Danny Ross of Ajax. Greatly missed by grandchildren Devin, Natasha, Emely, Brittany, Alexander, Alexandra, and Ethan. Shirley was always thinking of others, especially children, and so donations in her memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated by her family.
Funeral Details: Friends are invited to share fond memories with her family at the NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S. (just north of 401 at the lights) on Thursday, Sept. 1, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation.

Gagne, Alberta "Birdie"
GAGNE, Alberta “Birdie” – Peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg on Sunday, August 28, 2005 in her 78th year. Loving wife of the late Donald Gagne and predeceased by her dear daughters, Sharon, Donna and Helen (Tana). Sadly missed by grandchildren Rebecca and her husband Jim Alessio of Orono, Jeremia Johnson of Napanee, Lisa and her husband Howard Burton of Cobourg and their children Jeff, Natasha, Jessica and Eric, as well as other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Birdie will also be missed by her close friends Sharon and Ed Neva and family of Napanee.
Funeral Details: Respecting Birdie’s wishes, cremation will take place with no funeral service. ULLMANN, Josef – peacefully after a lengthy illness, at his daughter’s home in Orono on Sunday, August 28, 2005, in his 84th year. Josef, beloved husband for 58 years of Hilda of Toronto. Loving father of Vera Palko and her husband Josef of Florida, and Marie Smail and her husband Cam of Orono. Missed by grandchildren Monica and Nathaniel. Survived by his sister Anna Bogoczova and sister-in-law Zynka Szoltysova and their families, all of the Czech Republic.
Funeral Details: A funeral mass will be held in St. Wenceslaus Roman Catholic Church, 496 Gladstone Avenue, Toronto, on Saturday, September 3, at 11:00 a.m., with visiting in the church for a half hour prior to the service. Interment Glendale Memorial Gardens.

FREEMAN, Josephine Marie – surrounded by love at home, on Friday, August 26, 2005. Josie, beloved wife of the late Vincent Edward (Ed) Freeman. Loving mother of Paul Freeman, Nancy Featherstone (Larry) and Sheilagh Freeman Zatorski (Stuart). Nana will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Chad, Melissa, Emma, Craig, Angela (Kris), Stuart, and her great-grandchildren Cple, Jacob, and Jorja. Beloved sister of Marion Sullivan (Carl), Roberta Foster (Nick), Mick Hobbins (the late Helen), Shirley Lord (the late Walter), and predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. McGIBBON, Edward Francis “Frank” – after an extended illness, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Sunday, July 31, 2005, passed away peacefully with his family at his side. Loving husband and best friend of Lillian May for 58 years. Dear father of Gerald and his wife Cheryl, and Catherine and her husband David McKendrick. Proud grandfather of Jason and Kimberley McGibbon, Brandon McGibbon, Andrew McKendrick and Craig McKendrick. Great-grandpa to Liam, Daniel, Caroline, and Trinity Joy McGibbon. Brother of James (Lillian), Roy, Donald (June), George (Diane), and the late Jean Woodhouse, and brother-in-law to Jo McGregor. Frank was a former 25-year employee of Imperial Flo-Glaze Co., a 25-year employee of Dupont Canada, Ajax Works, and was a consultant at Remply Canada. Donations to the Dialysis Centre of Lakeridge Health Whitby in Frank’s memory would be appreciated by his family, and may be made through NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 1-877-987-3964, with whom arrangements have been entrusted.

SLATER, Grant Harold (Veteran of WWII, R.C.A.F.) – died peacefully after a brief illness at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Saturday, July 30, 2005, at the age of 86. Predeceased by his dear wife Helen Jean Slater (nee Miller) and his son James Craig Slater. Sadly missed by his son Terry Slater of Orono. Grandpa to Tanya Ruth Hewson (nee Slater) and Trudy Jean Slater, both of Burlington. Survived by his brothers Howard Slater (Jeanne) of Barrie, Bob Slater (Betty) of Peterborough, and Don Slater (Clem) of Toronto. Predeceased by his eldest brother Jack Slater. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Donations in Grant’s memory to the Durham Regional Cancer Centre or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

Blanche, beloved wife of the late Fred Mellard. Loving mother of Irene Carway of Mississauga. Nana to Ron and Lynda Carway, Dan and Diane Carway, Wendy and Howard Hayes, all of Mississauga, and David and Cheryl Carway of Ajax. Great-nana to Jason and Brigitte, Sandra, Shannon and Rich, Melissa, Lara, Wayde, Athena and Aziz, Amanda, Michael, and Great-great-nana to Jaxon.
