Jack Eilbeck
EILBECK, Jack – after a long, happy, and productive life, it is with sad hearts we say goodbye to Jack, on Wednesday, June 22, 2005, in his 82nd year. He was a loving husband and best friend to his wife Pat for over 60 years. He loved and admired his three daughters, Lynda MacGregor (David), Anne McFadden, and Susie Plumpton (Dan). He was a mentor to his grandchildren Erin, Megan, and Rob, and enjoyed wonderful times with them. Jack graduated from the University of Toronto in Physical and Health Education and entered the recreation world in Brantford and Leaside as Recreation Director. He was the Ontario representative for the Community Programs Branch. He joined the faculty of Humber College, where he taught Recreation Leadership before becoming department chair. He was the founding president of the Leaside Curling Club. Upon retiring, he returned to his beloved Newcastle and became active in the Clarington Older Adults Association, the Newcastle/Bond Head Ratepayers Association, and the Newcastle Village and District Historical Society. As an expression of sympathy, a donation in memory of Jack to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Clarington Community Care would be appreciated by his family.
Funeral Details: The family will receive their friends at the NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S. (exit 440,just north of 401 at the lights, 1-877-987-3964) on Friday, June 24, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, June 25, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a gathering at the family home. Cremation, with Interment at Bond Head Cemetery at a later date.

Lillian Fowler
FOWLER, Lillian Neva – passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the Palliative Care Unit at PRHC on Sunday, June 19, 2005, in her 63rd year. Lillian spent all but the last few hours being cared for at home as was her wish. She fought a brave battle against cancer. Loving wife of Ken for 40 years. Dear daughter of Helen Storey (Mark) and the late Harry Mark, and step-daughter of the late Joe Storey. Dear mother of Michele and her husband Tim Nicholls, Monica and her husband Jeff Green, and Kendra Bell, all of Peterborough. Loving Grandma to Steven, Sarah, and Jeremy. Sister of Ken Mark (Margaret) and Art Mark, and step-sister of Ron Storey (Linda) and Calvin (Nancy). Sister-in-law of Clarence McDougall (Marion). Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Retired from Orbell Howden & Norris, Chartered Accountants. Wilda Simpson
SIMPSON, Wilda (Nee Call)-(Newcastle Golf Course) Peacefully at Oshawa General Hospital on Saturday, June 18th, 2005 in her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband R.C.(Bob) Simpson. Loving mother of Peggie(Eric), Tom(Helen), Nancy(Gordon), Georgina(Larry) and Susan(Steve) . Survived by sisters Verna Russell and Violet McArthur and predeceased by sister Letha Storms and brother Thomas Call. Wilda will be fondly remembered by her 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and also many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind would be appreciated by the family. (

Dr. Gordon Dorey
DOREY, Dr. Gordon – surrounded and supported by his family, peacefully went to be with the Lord whom he served for over 55 years, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Tuesday, June 14, 2005, in his 78th year. Loving and devoted husband for 53 years of Norma of Wilmot Creek. Dear father of Rev. Terry Dorey and his wife Karen of Belleville and Linda and her husband Robert Tanfield of Pickering. Grampa to Karissa, Rachel, Tara, and Nathan Dorey, and Carley and Luke Tanfield. Brother to Stan and his wife Bev Dorey, and Merle and her husband Harry Linden. Missed by a loving family of his cousins, nieces, and nephews. Memorial donations to Newcastle Fellowship Baptist Church or Africa Inland Mission Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Funeral Details: Following a private family service on Friday, June 17, at the Newcastle Funeral Home and Interment at Bond Head Cemetery, a Memorial Service will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church (northeast corner of Rossland and Ritson) on Saturday, June 18, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service, as well as at the reception to follow.

KELLY, John (retired employee of the T.T.C.) – peacefully after a lengthy illness at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Monday, June 6, 2005, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband for 57 years of Mollie of Wilmot Creek, Newcastle. Missed by his sister and two brothers in Ireland, and his many friends. Dear wife of Phil Williams and the late Lorne Johnson. Loving mother of Glenda and her husband Raymond of Norwood and Gary of Toronto. Dear Grandma of Krista, Mark, and Jennie. Wilda is survived by her twin brother Walter (Kit) and her sister Dorothy (Ralph), and predeceased by her sister Doreen.
