Peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 6, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 42. Beloved husband of Michelle Canning-Choi. Devoted hockey dad of Alexander; proud figure skating dad of Victoria. Son of Pui-Ha Kwan and the late Yuk-Bun Choi. Dear brother of Ching-Ching "Jessica" (John Yuen) and Tsz-Ching "T.C." (Jim Vester). Cherished son-in-law of Pauline and the late James Canning. Will also be missed by 8 nieces and nephews. Cy was employed by General Dynamics Canada (formerly Computing Devices) as a systems engineer and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9005. Many thanks to the various doctors and nurses who treated Cy with dignity and respect, especially Dr. Stephen Fisher and nurses James Rath and Estelle Rochefort. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Wednesday, April 7, from 7 to 9pm and Thursday, April 8 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 10am at Good Shepherd Parish, 3092 Innes Road, Gloucester. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre of Good Shepherd Church would be appreciated.

Retired Platoon Chief, Ottawa Fire Department Peacefully at home, at age 85, on Friday, April 9th, 2004 with his beloved wife Myrtle at his side. Dear brother of Florence Parker, Fred Clarke and Barbara Boland. Will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to Dr. Louise Coulombe and the nursing staff for their compassionate care. A private family service will be held. Françoise Claire-Belle Dalrymple - 04/13/2004
Peacefully on Sunday, April 11, 2004 after a short illness, age 86 years. Forever loved and endlessly loving. Small in stature and larger than life. Always unassuming and impossible to overlook. A woman of few words and full of emotion. Tough as nails and gentle as a cloud. Born in Ottawa, July3, 1917, Françoise was a matriarch and an angel to all those who loved her – and there were many. Her darling Albert Vincent, who left us five years ago, now welcomes back a beautiful wife of 59 years, a devoted mother and his partner for eternity. As she left us, Françoise was cared for by her children, James (Johanne), Robert (Lorraine), Françoise (Cécile), Michel (Lucille), Pièrre (Yvonne), Guy (Nancy), Denis (Lee Anne), Denise, Nicole (Paul), Francine (Rick) and Lucie (Tom). Françoise was also loved by her sister, Claudia (Phil Deslauriers), her sisters-in-law Cécile, Agathe, Jeanne D’Arc and Élodia, 39 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and countless friends and family members, each holding dear to them memories so sweet and cherished. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica, Guigues at Sussex Drive, Ottawa on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at 10:30am Interment Notre-Dame Cemetery, Gatineau. The family wishes to extend its most sincere and heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital whose gentleness and sincerity will never be forgotten. In memoriam donations to the Queensway Carleton Hospital would be appreciated. Funeral Arrangements in care of the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry.

Peacefully at Billingswood Manor on Saturday, April 10, 2004. Loving sister of Joan Maheux (the late Walter) and dear aunt of Peter (Jay), Patricia and the late Ruth. Great aunt of Darlene, David, Larry, Peter Jr. and Keith. Great great aunt of Leanne, Cassandra and Hayley. She will also be missed by many friends, particularly by Simone and Patrice. Stella Marie Alice Hendrie - 04/08/2004
Peacefully on Thursday, April 8, 2004 at Extendicare West End Villa, at the age of 100. Daughter of the late Rodolphe Matte and the late Edith Primeau. Beloved wife of the late Richard Allen Hendrie. Predeceased by her sister Fabiola (Edwin George Wall, deceased) and her brother Albert J. Matte. Stella will be fondly remembered and especially missed by her 5 nieces, Ann, Elizabeth, Dorothy, Carole, and Nancy and her 3 nephews, Peter, David and Ernie. Funeral arrangements in the care of the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street. There will be no visitation. Family and friends may attend a Funeral Mass which will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 1758 Alta Vista Drive, on Monday April 12, 2004 at 11am. Immediately following the Mass, the Interment will be at Notre Dame Cemetery, Montreal Road. Many thanks to the caring staff of the third floor, West End Villa. L. Edna (nee Legge) Hillier - 04/17/2004
Peacefully at the Starwood Extendicare Nursing Home on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of Percy. Loving mother of Suzanne Hillier Geissler (Klaus) of Mississauga, ON and Beverley Roney (Michael) of Victoria, B.C. Devoted grandmother of Alana, Patricia, James, Teresa and John Roney. She will be sadly missed by her many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends. Friends and relatives may pay respects at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue North at Richmond Road on Sunday, April 18th from 7-9pm and on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service and reception will be held at Woodroffe United Church, 207 Woodroffe Avenue North, on Tuesday, April 20th, 2004 at 2pm. Interment to follow at Capital Memorial Gardens, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive, Manotick, Ontario. Doris G. (nee Moor) Keddy - 04/06/2004
Peacefully on Sunday, April 4, 2004 in her 85th year. Widow of Robert E. Keddy (1979), Cherished mother of Judith (the late Herb Viner) of Nepean, Ontario and Susan (Michael Brearley) of Point Edward, Ontario. Loving grandmother of Jason, Christopher and Peter, and great-grandmother of Jaxon and Jordyn. Predeceased by her parents Alexander and Agnes Moor; brothers, Scotty, Bert and Ernie; sisters Florence, Nellie, Phyllis and Anne. Special sister-in-law to Sandy Cavaye, Doug and Rog Keddy and Pat Matthews. Aunt Doie to many nieces and nephews. May God bless the staff at West End Villa, especially Debbie and Lisa for their loving and compassionate care. At her request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will follow at a later date. Interment in Beechwood Cemetery. Doris has come home, In memory, a donation may be made to the West End Villa or the Alzheimer Society.

Kamal Kuwayti - 04/14/2004
Dr. Kamal Kuwayti, loving father, devoted husband and caring physician, passed away on April 13, 2004 in Ottawa after a long and brave struggle with heart disease. He was a true champion of humanity and traversed the world -- from his hometown of Basra, Iraq to medical school at the American University of Beirut, to residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and a long career as a respected endocrinologist in Ottawa. He was a kind and gentle person with a warm sense of humor, who loved to tell stories and cherished the company of family and close friends. He was always there for his family, and his constant guidance, support and wisdom cannot be replaced. His love for his family and his dedication to his patients and the community will always be remembered. Beloved husband of 40 years of his late wife Dahlia, he is survived by his two sons, Ricky and Kenny, and his daughter, Karen. He is also survived by two brothers, Josef and Charles. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue, Ottawa. Interment Jewish Community Cemetery, Bank Street, Ottawa. Shiva will be observed at 1899 Highland Terrace, Ottawa on Thursday, following the service and from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm; Friday, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm; and Sunday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Predeceased by his parents Noel Leblanc and Therese Legros. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Nicole and his children Lucie and Nadine (Charles). Brother of Gisele (Jean-Paul Racine), Rita (Denis Robert) and Rheal (Guylaine Charron) and his godson Lucas, his dear aunt Cecile and many nieces, nephews, especially Shane Vaive and Eve Corriveau, cousins, especially Robert Legros (Gisele Danis), Victor Lemieux (Therese Poirier) and also a devoted employee Sylvain Robert and friends. Friends may visit at the McGarry Memorial Chapel 139 Valley Dr. Wakefield on Tuesday April 13, from 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Ste-Cecile-de-Masham on Wednesday April 14, 2004 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers donations made to the Centre Hospitalier Gatineau Memorial in Wakefield or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Audrey Hilda (nee Ansell) Lewis - 04/04/2004

Predeceased by parents Gordon and Minnie Ansell. Dear sister of Ruth (the late Jim Wallace) and sister-in-law of Ken (Sylvia). Loving grandmother of Scott, Andrew, Andrea, Amy, Ryan, Chelsea and Spencer. She will be missed by nephews Paul, Barry and David. Peacefully, in the Queensway Carleton Hospital, April 17, 2004, in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Dr. J.E. Machacek, Plant Pathologist, Agriculture Canada, loving mother and mother-in-law of Elizabeth and Vernon Burrows, Patricia Machacek, and Robert and Josephine Machacek. Much loved grandmother of Diane Burrows (Gregory Bell), Janet Burrows, Daniel and Graham Machacek. A long time resident of both Winnipeg and Ottawa, a member of Nepean's Seniors Advisory Council and Nepean's Senior Recreation Centre, she delivered Meals on Wheels for many years and was active at St. Richard's Anglican Church, Nepean. Alice was a recipient of the City of Nepean Volunteer Appreciation Award in 1989 and was awarded the Province of Ontario Senior Achievement Award in 1992. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 10am at St. Richard's Anglican Church, Merivale Road and Withrow Avenue, Nepean, ON. Private Interment at Pinecrest Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions to the Parkinson's Society Ottawa, 1053 Carling Ave., Ottawa, ON, K1Y 4E9 would be appreciated by the family.
