Margaret Fuller - 12/16/2005
passed away peacefully at the West End Villa, Ottawa on Thursday, December 15, 2005 in her 92nd year, after a long illness. Daughter of the late William John Fuller and the late Margaret Riley. Survived by her sister, Ruth of Ottawa and cousins Margaret Phillips of Thunder Bay, ON., Jean Olmsted of Carleton Place, ON. and Lawrence Fuller of Bath, ON. She was a long time member of Knox Presbyterian Church. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Sunday, December 18, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, December 19 at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be much appreciated.

William Andrew Garay - 12/20/2005
Garay LLP With sadness, we announce the passing of Bela Garay on Monday, December 19, 2005 at the age of 54 years. Surrounded by family and friends who loved him and whom he loved. Predeceased in 1986 by his father Joseph, in 1997 by his grandmother Aranka and in 2005 by his mother Rosalia. He leaves behind his loving sons Robert, Ryan and Jonathan, his sisters Anne (Wayne Turner), Toronto and Susan, Los Angeles. Billy was the loved companion and partner of Karen Imbeau. He will be missed by Maggie McCarthy. A Funeral Service will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue, Ottawa on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at 1pm. Interment Jewish Community Cemetery (Osgoode). Immediately following the service, a celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Capones Restaurant, 831 Industrial Ave. after 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Reach Canada, UJA, or the Vista House are appreciated. Funeral arrangements in care of the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 95 Somerset Street West, Ottawa on Friday, December 23, 2005 at 11am. Cremation. Interment of Urn will be held in the family plot in La Passe, Ontario in the Spring. Bart passed away at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus on Monday, December 19th, 2005 in his 92nd year. He was predeceased by his first wife Genevieve Mallon, by his parents Laure Belle Masters and Josiah Taylor Hazelton, brothers Douglas Graydon Masters Hazelton, William Messenger Hazelton and sister Kathryne Welton Reykdal Hazelton. He is survived by his second wife Mora Patricia Fraser, stepdaughters Judy Fraser and Susan Dostal and stepgrandchildren Eddie and Christa Dostal and many nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by his loving nephew Brian Mallon and his family. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, December 22nd, 2005 from 7 to 9pm and Friday, December 23rd from 10am until service in the Chapel at 11am. Interment Beechwood Cemetery. Grateful appreciation is expressed to Drs. Miller, Knight and Davidson, the nursing staff of the fifth floor and the Palliative Care Team, all of the Civic Hospital for the kind and compassionate care provided to Bart during his days there. You are all a credit to your profession and your hospital and hopefully will be an inspiration to those who follow in your footsteps.

Grandfather of Stephen, Doug, Joseph, Inga, Theo, Julian, Kasimir, Emma, Lucas and great-grandfather of five. Friends may visit at Central Central of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, December 22nd, 2005 from 10am until 12noon. A Memorial Service will be held in the spring.

Valerie Huyck Lehman - 12/14/2005
Peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at the age of 64. Valerie battled a lengthy illness with dignity and humour. Beloved mother of Christina (Scott Vernon) and Sean Madden. She is survived by her brother John and sister in law Vera, niece Miriam, nephew Tom and granddaughter Kaileh. Predeceased by her parents Ethan and Dorothy Lehman and her grandson Ethan. Valerie was a friend of Bill W. and will be dearly missed by many dear family and friends whose lives have been touched by her gentle spirit. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Friday, December 16, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm, and on Saturday, December 17, 2005 from 11am until service time in the Chapel at 1pm. Peacefully on December 20, 2005 in her 85th year, surrounded by her children. Beloved wife of the late Laurie Leslie. Daughter of the late H.G. Langford and Emily Langford. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Elizabeth Minnes (Jim) and her sons Grant (Vickie) and John Laurie (Linda). She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth Langford and her beloved grandchildren Robyne, Kim and Heather Leslie, Alexandra and Justin Minnes, Matthew and Michelle Leslie and step-granddaughter Lindsay Callan. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on December 27, 2005 from 7-9pm and December 28th from 10am until service time in the Chapel at 11:30am. Catherine Ann McIlraith - 12/14/2005
On December 14, 2005, Cathy McIlraith, 61 years. Daughter of the late Margaret and Hon. George J. McIlraith of Ottawa. Much loved sister of Mary Margaret McIlraith and George E McIlraith, and predeceased by her sister Janet (Galligan). Will be fondly remembered as “Aunty Cathy” by her loving nieces and nephews: Cathy, Ken, Julia, and Geoff Sproule and Margaret Galligan, as well as 6 grandnephews. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 315 McLeod St, on Friday, December 16th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.. A service to commemorate Cathy’s life will be held at in the chapel on Saturday, December 17th at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations to either the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada or the Saint Vincent’s Hospital Foundation would be warmly received and greatly appreciated.

Mary B. McTeer - 12/13/2005
At the Ottawa General Hospital on Monday, December 12, 2005. Born May 22,1914, she was predeceased by her dear parents William McTeer and Florence Driscoll and her brothers John and Charles. She is survived by her loving brother Bill and his wife Betty of Grand Bend, Ontario and her two sisters-in-law Beatrice and Jean. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, Bill, Colleen, Maureen, Patricia, Pamela, Jane, John and Marc; her great-nieces and nephews Travis, Joshua, Brendan, Gordon, Todd, John, Catherine, Angela, Nathalee, Kyle, Scott, Leah, Samantha and Jessica and great-great-niece Gabrielle. Mary was an avid skier and curler and worked for a private engineering firm and then for many years in the federal department of Public Works. After retiring, she was active in her church and volunteering with the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Ottawa Civic Hospital. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod St., Ottawa on Thursday, December 15 from 7-8:30 p.m. and on Friday, December 16 from 11-12:30 p.m. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Patrick’s Basilica, 220 Kent St. (at Nepean), Ottawa, at 1:30 p.m. Private Interment Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may offer a donation to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation.

Paul David Mombourquette - 12/19/2005
Peacefully in hospital on December 19, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer, aged 73. Beloved husband for 52 years of Terry (Fern) Sullivan. Dear father of Timothy (Jenny), Paul (Hélène), Danny, Cindy and Robin. He will be sadly missed by his five grandchildren whom he adored, Cody, Mathieu, Eric, Thia and Justin. Dear brother of Freda and Thomas. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Paul will now be joining his parents Wilfred and Ada, and his brothers Riley, Hilary and John Marc, as well as his sister Theresa. Special thanks to Dr. Mai, nurse Maria and the care provided by the General Hospital and the Elisabeth Bruyere Centre. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, December 22 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Janet Brett Morchain - 12/16/2005
Ph.D. 1936-2005 Head of Social Sciences Lisgar Collegiate Institute 1972-1995
Janet died of heart failure on Monday, December 12, 2005 in the company of her husband, Michael Wall. She had suffered from Parkinson’s Disease and spinal damage for some years. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Wilfrid Brenton Kerr and the late Ada Sarah Melvina Brett. She was pre-deceased by her brother James. She leaves her sister Catherine Thompson, her two nephews, Michael and Gabriel, and me and my daughter Imogen who had become, in effect, an adopted daughter. We are all heart-broken at our loss. Educated at Havergal College; Trinity College, University of Toronto; and the University of Rochester she decided, despite having offers from at least two universities, on a career as a high school teacher. This she commenced in Oakville, Ontario and in 1972 came to Ottawa to take up the position as Head of the Social Sciences Department at Lisgar Collegiate Institute. She remained as head of an ever expanding department until her retirement in 1995. She was an active Progressive Conservative since her days at Trinity, she was a former president of both federal and provincial PC riding associations and served on the board of the Ottawa West-Nepean Conservatives until her death. An historian, she was the author of two books, “Sharing a Continent” on Canadian-US relations and “Search for a Nation” on English-French relations in Canada since 1759. She had just completed work on a third edition of “Search for a Nation’, which will be published by Fitzhenry & Whiteside in the spring. Her funeral will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, Sparks Street, Ottawa at 11:00 am on Friday, December 23. The service will be preceded by a gathering at the Cathedral at 10:00 am at which photographs and other memorabilia will be displayed and followed by a reception, also at the Cathedral. Her cremated remains will be interred in the family plot in Seaforth, following a memorial service in Rosemount next spring Flowers may be sent to the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa.
