Jean Blaney (Geldart) (Nee Gilmore) - 02/11/2006
Suddenly, in hospital, on Saturday, February 11th, 2006, at the age of 84. Predeceased by her only son Dale and husband Harold. Survived by her granddaughter Jennifer, grandson William (Bill), daughter-in-law Peggy, sister Eleanor (of St. Stephen, New Brunswick), many nieces, nephews and extended family in New Brunswick. Predeceased by 3 brothers and 1 sister. Her generous and loving spirit will be greatly missed. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, 70 James Street (at Kent Street) on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at 11am. Interment Beechwood Cemetery. Marjory Ayleene Bolick (nee Crabb) - 02/10/2006
In Ottawa on Thursday, February 9, 2006 in her 87th year. Beloved wife for 64 years of Watcil Bolick. Loving mother of Byron, Merle, the late Donna Cappon and the late Lenore Bolick. Cherished grandmother of Emily, Daniel, Andrew and Joe. She was a founder of the Canadian School Library Association and former Secondary School Library Co-ordinator for the Ottawa School Board. Marjory was a long time Librarian at Rideau High School and Glebe Collegiate. A Memorial Service will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated.

Peacefully died on the 10th of February, 2006, in Ottawa, Ontario, at age 80. Retired in 1990 from Environment Canada, where he served as a communications director and advisor, John worked as a volunteer for the Canadian Museum of Nature, Friends of Gatineau Park, which he helped found and the Ottawa Field Naturalist Club. A long time member of the RA Badminton and Tennis Clubs, he was also a keen cross country skier. John is survived by daughters Deborah and Rebecca and his brother Robert (Sandy). Donations in John’s memory can be made to Friends of Gatineau Park C.P./P.O. 1817 Chelsea, Quebec, J9B 1A1. Funeral arrangements in care of Memorial Funeral Home. A Celebration of John Life is to be held in Wakefield, Quebec in spring 2006. A notice of the Memorial’s details will be forthcoming.

He leaves behind his wife and friend Louise ( Thériault ), his daughter Delphine Carr Albert ( David ). Cherished grandfather of Mackenzie and Delaney Albert. Dear brother of William Mills ( Monique ), Mary Ann Charbonneau ( Conrad ), sisters-in-law Pauline, Nicole and Monique Thériault. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. To honour Phil, we are requesting jeans, cowboy boots and casual wear. Gone but never forgotten - Isaiah 49:15-18. On February 9, 2006, peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer, in her 82nd year. Mom went to be with the Lord. She will be greatly missed. Her years of selfless service and love for her children, grandchildren, friends and church family made a lasting impact that will remain as a faithful testimony of her love and devotion to God. She is predeceased by her husband Bert by 8 years, with whom she celebrated 53 years of marriage. She leaves behind her children Ruth (Dave Dobson) of Montreal and their sons David (Lori) (great-grandson Carter) and Jonathan; Bill (Nancy) of Winnipeg and their sons Timothy, Philip, Andrew and Peter; Dan (Sharon) and their children Luke, Stephen, Jonathan, Bethanna, Amy (deceased) and Michael; and Lois (David Ingels) of Winnipeg and their children Rachel, Joshua, Jason and Rebecca. She was predeceased by her brother Blaney (Jean) Sproule and will be fondly remembered by her sisters Lois Sproule and Joyce (Harold Grierson). She will be sadly missed by her brother-in-law Art (Joyce) Cavey. Fred (Lois) Cavey and her sister-in-law Wilma (Don Skemer) and all her nieces and nephews. (1930-2006) On February 5th, 2006 in Ottawa after a long illness fought with grace and good humour. Much loved husband and friend of Deborah Cowley, father of Christopher (Alena Dvorakova) and Geoffrey (Nancy Alilovic), grandfather of Eliska and brother of Dr. Marion Rogers of Vancouver and Elisabeth Cowley of London, England. George's life was marked by a passionate dedication to Canada's Foreign Service, a genuine kindness to all those he met, and a true spirit of adventure that carried him to most corners of the world. With heartfelt thanks to the devoted and caring staff at the Ottawa Grace Manor and to many loyal friends who have been so supportive. A Service of Thanksgiving will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, February 10th at All Saints Anglican Church, Sandy Hill, Ottawa, corner of Chapel and Laurier. Suddenly on 6 February 2006, age 81. Elder son of the late Cedric and Marjorie (nee Bridgette) of Sutton, QC. Survived by his wife of 58 years Althea (nee McCoy). Also survived by a nephew, Dr. David Douglas and 2 nieces Debbie Armstrong and Sharon Westbrook. Predeceased by his brother Bob Douglas. Creighton received his B.Sc and a graduate Diploma in Management from McGill University. With Canadian Marconi Company he was part of the team that brought television to the United Nations in New York in 1950, then moved from television to radio as Engineering Manager of CFCF (Montreal). At Expo 67 he was Manager of the NFB Labyrinth Pavillion. In 1968 he joined the National Film Board and went on to other government assignments: Government Exhibition Commission, Habitat Conference, before joining IMAX corporation in 1981. He "retired" to Ottawa in 1991. In Ottawa he turned to translation and worked as a volunteer on the Boards of ATIO and CTIC. He was one of the group of translators who worked on the New York Museum of Modern Art's POSITIF 50 Years; Selections from the French Film Journal. He also co-authored, with his wife Althea, Canadian Railway Records, a Guide for Genealogists (Toronto, 1994). Dear father of Garfield (Brenda) of Ottawa and Andrew of Toronto. Loving brother of Dudley (Pat) and Frieda Abbinett and predeceased by his siblings Audrey Lewis, Balfour (Ruth), Cora White, Geddes (Audrey), Virginia, and Iola Armstrong. Retired Dollco Printing Veteran WWII, 2nd Div. Canadian Army Kinsman (45 years). Red Pine Camp (50 years). Peacefully at the Hospice at May Court on February 5, 2006 at the age of 85. Beloved husband for 57 years of Joan (nee Elliott). Dear father of Bruce and Ross. Cherished grandfather of Kalla. Also survived by his three brothers Frank (Winn), King, and Jim (Ollie) and his two nieces and three nephews. Don was a highschool athelete and a former Canadian rowing champion. Don served overseas during WWII from 1940-45 in the Canadian Artillary. He was a kinsman for over 45 years, serving as President in 1956-57 and Deputy Governor in 1959-60. Don was a perennial paddle tennis champion at Red Pine Camp following a pattern established in earlier years at Golden Lake Boys Camp in the 1930's. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St. on Friday, February 10, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Saturday February 11, from 12 noon until the Service in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Beechwood Cemetery at a later date. Loved mother of Kathleen Saunders, Ottawa, ON, Stephen (Elaine), Swift Current, SK, Jay (Solange), Vancouver, B.C., Brady, Sheenboro, PQ, Matthew (Christine) Edmonton, AB, and James (Lana) Sault Ste. Marie, ON. Predeceased by daughter Erin, grandson Kyle, sisters Rhoda, Sheila, Arlie and brother Harry. Maurice André Jorre De St.Jorre - 02/17/2006
Maurie Jorre de St. Jorre was born on April 20, 1956 in Vancouver, B.C., died on February 14, 2006 in Wakefield, Quebec and will be missed every day by his wife Susan Brown and his children Adrian and Ariel. Maurie was predeceased by his parents Maurice and Dorothy and is survived by brother Philip (Lynn), sister Julie Savard, nephews Dominic Savard, Matthew Brown, Nicholas Jorre de St. Jorre, aunts Ariel (Jack) Merner, Jacqueline Bouchard and Elizabeth Grassick, cousins including Christie (Penny) Sinclaire and in laws including mother-in-law Elizabeth Brown. Maurie worked at the Privy Council Office with Canada's most talented and committed public servants and political staff and was so proud to have been allowed the privilege of contributing to the government of Canada. Maurie loved his family, friends, cooking and entertaining, his garden in Chelsea, Quebec and baseball. Maurie's favourite pastimes were coaching Adrian's baseball team, which he did for many years, and driving all over Quebec from Mont Laurier to Fort Coulonge to Montreal to watch Adrian and Ariel play hockey, soccer and rugby. He had an incisive and irreverent wit, you were lucky not to get caught in the cross fire, counterbalanced by his enormous generosity and hospitality. Maurie was diagnosed with brain cancer in September 2004, he fought his illness heroically and received outstanding and compassionate care from so many including neurosurgeon Dr. Lieu at CHVO, Gatineau, neuro-oncologist Dr. Fortin and nurse Marie Boudria at CHUS, Sherbrooke, all the palliative care staff at CHGM, Wakefield and home care workers Karen and Ken of Casa Mia, Wakefield. The family would like to express its heartfelt thanks to all Maurie's friends and colleagues who visited, sent cards and gifts and supported us throughout Maurie's illness.
