Peacefully at Hillel Lodge on Friday, February 24, 2006, at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Samuel Mender. Loving mother of Anne (Phil Morganstein), Seymour (Joy), and predeceased by son Lolic. Cherished and devoted Bubby to Tamara (Greg Singer), Jess, David and Jared. Dear sister of Sala (the late David Tiffenberg), Esther (Tobias Blum), Alter (the late Esther) Brener and Moishe Brenner. Predeceased by brothers Itzik-Beresh, Schmiel, Simcha-Leibish and Chamel. A Funeral Service will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue on Sunday, February 26, 2006 at 2 p.m. Interment following at the New Jewish Community Cemetery, Osgoode, ON. Lieutenant-General W.A Milroy (Retd) - 02/22/2006
CM, DSO, CStJ, CD, DMilS On Monday, February 20, 2006. Survived by his loving wife, Ann Tilton Milroy, his daughters Elizabeth and Alexandra, his son Rollin (Leigh Ogston-Milroy), his grandchildren; Christie and Victoria Arnold and Lillian Milroy, his sisters Marion Hyde of Pender Island, BC and Jean Hennig of Alder Flats, AB. He was born in Brownlee, Saskatchewan in 1920. Grew up in Calgary & Edmonton where he attended the University of Alberta until joining his regiment Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians). A Memorial Service will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 1pm, followed by a reception. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Ottawa Hospital.
Ted Newman - 03/01/2006
Died peacefully Sunday, February 26 at the age of 66 after fighting a valiant battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Frechette; his three children, Eric, Mark and Chantal; his five grandchildren, Chloe, Ciaran, Jessica, Alex and Adam; and many other friends and relatives, including Helen Wood and JP Wood. He is predeceased by his loving sister, Caroline Frasell. Son of Cress and Vera Newman, Ted was born in Campbellford, Ontario, which is where his ashes will rest. He enjoyed a long career as a mechanical engineer, and his favourite pursuits included hunting, fishing, spending time in the wilderness, and relaxing with family and friends. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Ave. (corner of Richmond Rd.), on Thurs. March 2 from 2-4 p.m. and Fri. March 3 from 12-1 p.m., with Service in the Chapel to follow at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to La Fondation des Services de Santé d’Aylmer (a CLSC palliative care service at 445 Wilfrid-Lavigne Blvd., Gatineau J9H 6H9) are appreciated. Dear father of Anne Patenaude (Ghislain Dufour) and Erin Lepine (Wayne). Doting Grand-papa of Simon, Joëlle and Émile Dufour and Nicolas and Alexander Lepine. Predeceased by his parents Etiénne and Rose-Alma (née Aubin) Patenaude and brother Floriant (Colombe). Beloved brother of Thérèse Fournier (the late Cléo), Cécile Sauvé (Edgar) and Agathe Robinson (Harold). Brother-in-law of Richard Lester, Wayne Miles, Liz Lester and Diana Lester. Adopted father, grandfather and friend to many who loved him dearly. Twenty year survivor of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. (nee Packman) It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Doris Redhead in her 89th year. Daughter of the late Alexander and Maude Packman. Husband of the late Paul Redhead. Dear mother of Janet Randall (Ed) and Pat Redhead (Jim Birchard). Proud grandmother of four grandsons Jee, Brad, Phil and Tim. Dear sister of Ronald Packman (Dorothy). Predeceased by one sister Isabel Cheesman (the late Arthur) and two brothers Douglas Packman (Audrey) and Walter Packman (Olive). Sadly missed by many Packman relatives. She will always be remembered for her generosity as a volunteer with the Lord Dundonald Chapter of the IODE, the Children's Aid Society of Ottawa, the Riverside Hospital and the Women's Association of St. David and St. Martin Presbyterian Church. Special thanks to the staff of Goulbourn Village at the Carleton Lodge. Thomas Edward Roberts - 03/03/2006
Peacefully with dignity at the Empress Kanata (Ottawa) on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Eleanor (nee Platt) for 62 years. Dear father to Claire Davis (Jack), Gary (Janet) and Dianne. Loving grandfather to Sarah, Andrew, Jennifer, Katie and Laura. Born in Montreal on May 1, 1918 to Malcolm and Florence (Reilly) Roberts. Pre-deceased by his brother Malcolm and his sister Dorothy. Ed was President and General Manager of Mount Royal Press Ltd. in Montreal until 1963. He joined the Federal Public Service in 1964. He was appointed Director General of the Canadian Government Printing Bureau in 1970, which carries the title of Queen’s Printer for Canada, and is the first honorary life member of the Queen’s Printers Association of Canada. Ed was the recipient of many awards from associations such as the Graphic Arts Industries Association (President 1956-1958; honorary life member), Employing Printers Association of Montreal (Past President), Montreal Club-International Association of Printing House Craftsman (past Director, honorary life member), Jacee International (sixth Senator). In 1980 Ed was nominated for the Order of Canada. In his retirement Ed divided his time between Ottawa, New Smyrna Beach, Florida and his cottage at Lake Louisa, Quebec. He loved to golf, read and spend time with family and friends. Our family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Cross, Dr. Eapen, Dr. Hurdon, Dr. Coulombe, the V.O.N. and At Home Hospice nurses and the very kind staff of Empress Kanata. At his request a private Memorial Service will be held at a later date for family and friends. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Peacefully in her home early Wednesday morning, February 22nd, 2006. Lenore was a light to all she met. She lived life to the fullest, sharing her wonderful energy, talents, and spirit with an open heart and home. She is survived by her son George, grandchildren Kristin and Heather, and great-grandchildren Rachel, Presleigh, Britany, and Nickolas. Her grace will be cherished by all. Dora Schaenfield, caring, devoted and always loving mother, wife, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 20th, 2006. Predeceased by her beloved husband Sam of 69 years. Cherished and adored mother to David (Rona), Faye Helman (Moshe) and Susan Cohen(David). Beloved Bubbi Dora to her grandchildren Tamar and Gilad Helman(Lana) and Brett and Hilary Schaenfield and great-grandmother to Noah Helman. Dora will be sadly missed by her siblings Leona Silver(Label), Milton (the late Terry), Gordon (Shirley) and Millie Schaenfield ( the late Dave) and by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters Sylvia Altschuler, Betty Gold, and brothers Dave, Joe and Arthur Viner. Graveside service will be held at the Jewish Community Cemetery, Bank Street on Thursday, February, 23rd, 2006 at 1 p.m. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the dedicated staff at Hillel Lodge. Peacefully at Carleton Lodge on Friday, March 3rd, 2006 in his 83rd year. Son of the late Harold and the late Eva Serson. Brother of the late Harold Jr. (Ada and the late Barbara Hornyansky) and Elizabeth Serson (the late John A. and the late Harry Johnson). Dearly beloved husband of Margaret E. Reid (nee Peggy Garnham) and step-father to Michael, Becky (Glenn), Margaret (Bruce) and John (Ellen). Loving grandfather to Kevin, Reid, Sarah, Rachel, James and Keith. He will be sadly missed by nieces Terry, Robin, Karen and nephew Ragnar and many cousins in the area. Paul started his career at the Dominion Observatory and became Director of the Division of Geomagnetism, Department of Energy, Mines and Resources. He and his colleagues developed the Airborne Magnetometer and many other scientific inventions. Paul was also a great lover of music and played violin and viola taking part in many community quartets. Paul retired in 1981 and spent the last 6 years of his life in a nursing home. Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at Carleton Lodge. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Saturday, March 11th, 2006 from 12 noon until Service Time in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Reception to follow.
