Peacefully on March 24, 2006 in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Robert. Dear mother of Noel Bain (Stew) of Markham, Martha Bohm (Frank) of Kanata, and Jennifer Hanna (Pierre) of L'Acadie, QC. She will be fondly remembered as Bombie by her five grandchildren; Alison (Rob), Ian, Eric (Clara), Colin (Josie) and Mark (Victoria) and 8 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at Stillwater Creek Residence and Dr. Kim MacAskill for their exceptionally compassionate care. Janice formerly worked with the Department of Justice, Department of Finance and the Canadian Federation of Labour. Peacefully at the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre on Monday, April 3, 2006, at the age of 54. Beloved son of Thais Holmes and the late Gerald T. Holmes. Loving brother of Sheila and her husband Lorne Levy. Proud uncle of Erin (Michael), Megan and Jonathan. Life-long friend of “Mischief”. Brian had a long and illustrious career with the Department of National Defence and a profound impact on the lives and careers of co-workers. His sense of humour and loyalty to friends guided his life. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday, April 7, 2006 at 10am with a reception to follow. Monday, March 27th, 2006 at Ottawa. Elizabeth Barclay Burton, age 94. Beloved wife of the late Earl Reginald Hope. Loving daughter of the late Professor Eli Franklin Burton and Fannie May Wicher of Weston, Ontario. Predeceased by her dear brother Franklin Wicher Burton and his wife, Jean MacMillan. She will be missed by friends, relatives and stepgrandsons Timothy and Christopher Peaker. Many thanks to Diana Gaunt and to home support workers Mildred Hernandez and Annie Kazadi for their devotion to Betty over the last year and a half. beloved husband of Joy Large, passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Wednesday, March 29th, 2006, at age 75. Loving father of Karen, John (Nadia Marshy), Adam (Sharon Heldt) of Toronto, and Penny. Cherished grandfather of Lee, Adrian and Tauran, Macayla and Skylar. Brother of Edna Crapnell and uncle of Lisa Mackay (Ross) and Victor Crapnell (Joanne) of Victoria, BC. Thanks and gratitude to the staff of Peter D. Clark Centre, Ottawa, where Alan was a resident since June 2001. Thanks also to the excellent care provided by the staff at the Civic Hospital. Alan will be remembered for his quick wit, encouraging and generous spirit, and his great capacity for love. These qualities were undiminished even with the onset of Alzheimer’s disease and will live on his children and grandchildren. Grandfather of Christine, Vanessa, Patrick, Jenny, Jessica and Gregory. Great-grandfather of Sam. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, he graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1935 with a degree in electrical engineering. During the Second World War he held a wide variety of appointments, both on the staff and in command of Royal Canadian Engineer Units, and served in Italy and North West Europe. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, March 31, 2006 at 10 a.m. Private cremation. She is survived by her son William Machin, St. Philips, Newfoundland and daughter Jean (David) Sheppard, Pincher Creek, Alberta, and six grandchildren, John Machin, David Machin, Michael Machin, Robert Machin, Genevieve Machin, Kathleen Sheppard, five great grandchildren, her sister Doris Fleming, and many nieces and nephews.
