Hilda Irene Lieff (nee MacKenzie) - 04/17/2006
After a brief illness at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Sunday, April 16th, 2006 in her 86th year. Cherished daughter of the late Alexander and Alice MacKenzie. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Lieff. Loving mother of Andrew (Susan), Stephen (Ann) and the late David. Dear sister of the late Mary (the late Jack Anderson), Iva (the late Ken Mann), the late Dorothy MacKenzie, the late John MacKenzie, Mack MacKenzie (the late Norma), Russell MacKenzie (Margaret), Colin MacKenzie (Fran) and Gloria (Ron Collings). She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews and their families. She will be sadly missed by her dear friends. Hilda was a proud employee of Carleton University and Birks at Billings Bridge. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, April 20th, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, April 21st, 2006 at 1pm. Interment to follow at North Horton Cemetery, Renfrew, Ontario. Following a courageous battle with cancer, Denise passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on April 16, 2006, surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late René Lurette. Loving mother of Claude (Rachel Lalonde), Francine and Louise (Audie McCreadie). Cherished grandmother of Stéphanie, Chantal and Courtney. She will also be fondly remembered by sisters-in-law Noëlla ( the late Rodolphe Dinelle), Fernande (the late Marcel Desjardins), Isabelle (Stanley Saunders), and nieces Lyse and Suzanne. Special thanks to Dr. Coulombe and the staff at the Hospice at May Court as well as the Fifth Floor staff at the Elisabeth Bruyère Health Centre for the wonderful care our mother received. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road at Aviation Parkway on Wednesday, April 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St-Sébastien Roman Catholic Church, 1000 Frances Street on Thursday, April 20 at 11am. Interment to follow at Notre-Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Hospice at May Court or the Palliative Care Outreach Program would be appreciated.

Peacefully on April 13, 2006 at the Osgoode Care Centre in her 98th year. Loved wife of the late R. Gordon MacKillop who predeceased her in 1933. Beloved wife of Frank Seuter MacRae who predeceased her in 1989 after 44 years of marriage. Predeceased by her parents James Davis Hodgins and Annie Louisa Hodgins, by her brothers Winston and Lyall and sister Florabell Coles. Loved mother of Margaret Agnes (Peggy) Dingwall of St. Catherines and Joan Ann Smirle (Weldon) of North Carolina. Step-mother to Dennis Rodney MacRae of Easton's Corners, Ont. Predeceased by daughter Gladys Isabell Leader. Survived by grandchildren; Bruce, Kristine, Ann, Laurie and Carolyn, the Dingwall family favorite grandchildren; Randy and Beverly Leader and Russell and Marlene Leader, and their children; James, Greg, Frazier and Kassondra. Harold Morton (Mort) Maddick - 04/18/2006
In the City of Ottawa on April 18, 2006, in his 87th year. Husband of the late Peggy (nee Broom), father of Jane Bracewell (Bob), Montreal, and Susan Maddick (Joan Lowden) of Toronto; grandfather of Jonathan (Ali Glaser) and Jennifer Bracewell; son of the late Harry and Ida Maddick of St. John’s, Newfoundland; brother of Joan Lewis (John) and Ruth Goff (Jim) all of St. John’s; brother-in-law of Rosemary Broom (pre-deceased Barney) of England. He was a member of Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service for 35 years. Friends are invited to a memorial service on Friday, April 21st at 11 am at Christ Church Cathedral, Sparks & Bronson, Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Hearing Society would be appreciated. Arrangement in care of the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street.
Joan (nee Murray) Maxwell - 04/20/2006
Wife of the late George Maxwell. Joan died peacefully at home April 19, 2006 at the age of 70 years. Joan is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Dave Corkery and Joy and Ron Edgeley, as well as her four wonderful grandsons, Scott and Grant Corkery and Brayden and Bryan Edgeley. She is also survived be her brothers George (Hilda), Burleigh (Carol) and her sisters Edna (Harry) and Linda. Joan was predeceased by her parents Wilbert and Ione, her brothers Joe, Roy and Jim and sister Lois. Our family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. L. Coulombe. Special thanks also to Dr. Nicolson and the visiting homecare staff that provided support during this time. Elizabeth Jane McIvor - 04/10/2006
Peacefully on April 9th in her 100th year. Beloved wife of the late Norman Kitson McIvor. Predeceased by her parents Robert George Mann and Adella Rose Lytle Mann. Predeceased by sisters Margaret, Della and Agnes (Bobbe), also brothers Watson, James, Jack, Bob, Sam and Herb. Cherished mother of Mary Lou McIvor and Jeanie Maennling (Nic) and dear sister of Lila Dore. Left to celebrate her life are grandchildren Cathy Thompson (Jason) of Toronto, Lisa Sterritt and Betty Jean Tyner (Ross) of Armstrong, B.C. and Matthew (Shelley Woods) of Burlington, Ont. Great Grandchildren are Liam, Esme and Anna of Armstrong and Marissa of Burlington. As well, many Lytle and Mann nieces, nephews, cousins and their offspring. Elizabeth studied art in Winnipeg in the 1920’s and in the Depression turned to hand colouring photography to make a living. Moving to Ottawa she worked at several photography studios before marrying Norman and becoming a full-time Mom. Norman’s death, the result of a workplace accident at the City of Ottawa Water Filtration Plant at Lemieux Island, necessitated Elizabeth’s return to the workforce. She worked days at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and often spent evenings at home tinting photographs to augment her income. She purchased a little house in the West End where she was able to coax a vegetable garden to grow in rock hard clay soil. Elizabeth taught her children to love literature, art, music and nature. Elizabeth enrolled in The Ottawa School of Art at the age of 65. She exhibited paintings at Ottawa City Hall with a group of seniors when she was in her seventies. As recently as 2005,Elizabeth contributed to paintings that resulted in colourful cards still being sold to aid Alzheimers patients at the Peter D. Clark Centre. To remember Elizabeth, please plant a tree, or a bush, or a flower in your garden. Donate to the Friends of the Experimental Farm or the Ottawa Food Bank. Take time to visit an old friend, smell a rose and appreciate a sunset. Many thanks to dedicated, gentle, caring staff at the Peter D. Clark Centre. Originally from Georgetown, British Guyana. Former employee of FiberGlass Canada. Suddenly at home on Wednesday April 19, 2006. Albert will forever be loved and remembered by Agnes, his wife of 45 years. A much loved and cherished father to Patricia (Shawnn), Carolyn (Kevin), Allison, Tacoma WA and Sharon of Burlington, ON. Adored papa to Jessica, Cynthia and Jacob. Dear beloved brother of Rudolph (Elaine), David (Ena), Richard (Kay), Johnny (Lena) and Ronald (Valerie). Predeceased by a sister Betty Shaw (McLean). Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Albert was full of life, always laughing and smiling. He will be greatly missed by all. In Ottawa on Thursday, April 20, 2006 in his 91st year after a brief illness. Loving husband of over 63 years to Mary (Sherwood), and devoted father to George and Martha (John Edmond). Predeceased by sister Jean (Frederick Charles Oppen) and brother Ross. Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Norm graduated from the University of Toronto in 1938. During World War II, he served in Europe with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals, and was awarded the Order of Orange-Nassau by the Netherlands Government for his contribution to the Dutch people. After a long career with Bell Canada and the Trans Canada Telephone System, Norm retired as a senior executive to enjoy summers at Big Rideau Lake and the Royal Ottawa Golf Club, and winters in Sarasota, Florida. Norm will be missed by his family, nieces and nephews and many friends far and wide. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Tuesday, April 25, 2005 from 1pm until service time in the Chapel at 2:30pm. passed away peacefully at the Edinburgh Retirement Residence on Sunday April 9th, 2006 in her 97th year. Beloved sister of the late Marjorie G. Hudson and Dr. Doris Stuart Runciman. She spent her career as an executive secretary with the Rockefeller Charitable Foundation in New York City. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Thursday April 13th from 10:30 a.m. until service time in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. Interment to take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, later in the Spring.
