Death, Burial, Cemetery & Obituaries

Archie Williams
Peacefully on Saturday, February 10th, 2007 at the age of 86 years, the loving husband of Doris for 62 years. Dear father of Rev. Gordon Williams and his wife Laura of Port Elgin. Loving grandfather of Jennifer and her husband Bobby Cook of Tupelo Mississippi, Jocelyn of Toronto and Geoffrey and his fiancée Alison of Hamilton. Survived by his brother Raymond and his wife Mary, sisters-in-law Mary, Peggy, Beulah O’Brian and Ida Hart. Archie will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Robert in 1976 and siblings Alvin, Marion and John. Archie was a Professional Engineer with Canada Steamship Lines for many years.
Friends will be received at the Butler Funeral Home, 424 Niagara Street, St. Catharines, on Monday, February 12th, 2007 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Tuesday at Memorial United Church at 1.00 p.m.

Dorothy Whitney
It is with both sadness and joy, her family announces the peaceful death of Dorothy Henrietta Whitney (nee Frook) of Southampton at Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton on Thursday, January 8, 2004, at the age of 93.
Dorothy was the loving wife of the late Ed Whitney (Sept. 2003), cherished Mom of Bob and Bev Whitney of Windsor, Mary and Bert Kowaltschuk of Colpoy’s Bay; precious grandma of Lisa and Terry Noble of Hastings, Lora and Oktay Gurbuz, Geneva, Switzerland, Adam and Clare Kowaltschuk of Aurora, and Stephanie Whitney of Winlaw, B.C.; happy great-grandma of John and Mark Noble; loved Aunt of Shirley and Paul Bruer of Colpoy’s Bay. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters: John, Edna, Eleanor and Milton.
Dorothy was born in Hanover in 1910, taught elementary school in Windsor, and was a woman ahead of her time being active in community, church, and social justice committee work. She was a founding and active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Port Elgin. Dorothy will be fondly remembered by family, friends and acquaintances for her supportive letters.
A Memorial Service of Celebration will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, Port Elgin at 2 p. m.on Saturday, April 17. Friends may visit with family from 1 to 2 p. m.. Reception to follow the celebration.

Whitney, Edward Gerard
Formerly of Windsor, Sauble Beach, Port Elgin, and latterly Southampton. Ed was a long-time educator and Mr. Unicef. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Windsor, Faith Lutheran Church, in Port Elgin, and a co-founder of Faith Maple Estates in Port Elgin.
At Grey-Bruce Health Services, Southampton on Thursday evening, Sept. 26th, 2003, at the age of 90 years, Ed Whitney, husband of Dorothy Whitney of Southampton, father of Robert and his wife Beverly of Windsor, Mary and her husband Bert Kowaltschuk of Colpoy’s Bay. Grandfather of Lisa Noble and her husband Terry of Hastings, Ont., Lora Whitney-Garbuz and her husband Oktay of Geneva Switzerland, Adam and his wife Claire Kowaltschuk of Aurora, and Stephanie Whitney of Winlaw, B.C. Great-grandfather of John and Mark Noble. Predeceased by brother William J. Whitney.
Friends may call at Faith Lutheran Church, 525 Ivings Dr., Port Elgin, from 1.30 to 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30th. A funeral service will be conducted in the Church at 2.30 p.m., followed by a reception with the family.

White, Minnie Mildred
At the Southampton Care Centre on Monday, March 25th, 2002, at the age of 97 years, the former Mildred Colwell. Wife of Clarke White of Southampton, and the late Gordon Murdoch. Stepmother of Donna Brown of Etobicoke and Gwen Turner of Dartmouth, N.S. She is also survived by many stepgrandchildren and step great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, (Town of Saugeen Shores) from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday. Funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Gordon Williams officiating.
Interment at Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Port Elgin.

White, Clarke
At the Southampton Care Centre on Wednesday, February 5th, 2003 at the age of 97 years, Clarke White of Port Elgin. Husband of the late Mildred Murdoch and the late Marjorie McLean. Dear father of Gwendolyn Turner of Dartmouth, N.S. Grandfather of Rhandy Patton and his wife Beth, Bonnie and her husband Glen Cah, Lynn and her husband Michael Coward, Lisa Turner, Larry Turner and his wife Karen, and Lee Turner and his wife Sue. Brother of Florence Gregg of Kincardine. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his daughter Winnifred Percival and by two infant children.

Harvey West
At the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Saturday, July 31st, 2004 at the age of 91 years, Harvey West of Elgin Lodge in Port Elgin. Beloved husband of Sally West (nee Sutcliffe). Dear father of Jo-Anne and her husband Danny Scholtz of Ottawa, and Pat and her husband Gerry Chesterman of Port Elgin. Cherished grandpa to Daniel Scholtz and his wife Kerry, David Scholtz and his wife Lori, Stephen Scholtz and his wife Gina, Terry Chesterman and his wife Lori, and Tracey and her husband Joe Wood. Great-grandpa to eight great-grandchildren.He is also survived by his sister-in-law Lottie West of Lions Head. Predeceased by two sisters and five brothers.

Perry Wesley
Suddenly of Thursday, January 6th, 2005 in his 44th year, Perry Wesley of Saugeen First Nation. Dear brother of Vida and her husband Hubert Roote, and Ora Wesley, all of Saugeen First Nation. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and by his best friend Brian and his family. Predeceased by his parents, Earl and Wilda Wesley, brothers Willard, Harvey and Dave, and by his sisters Florence Solomon and Susan Ritchie.

William Welch - WW II Veteran
On Monday, May 1st, 2006, at the age of 82 years, Bill Welch of Port Elgin and formerly of Toronto.. Predeceased by his companion Sharon Webster. Father of Suzanne Owen and James Welch. Grandfather of Michelle and her husband Roy Jones, and Thomas Owen. Bill was thrilled to meet his first great-grandson Keegan Jones on January 21st.

Weiss, Harley
At the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Tuesday, July 17th, 2001 in his 74th year, Harley Weiss of Southampton, husband of the late Jean Moulton. Father of Lynda Johnson and Bill, both of Southampton, Rick of Mississauga, Tracy of London and Chris of Cambridge. He is survived by nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Brother of Arthur Weiss of Southampton , and Gladys Geddes of London. Predeceased by one son Larry in 1965, and by his parents, the late Bill and June Weiss.
Private family funeral arrangements. A graveside service will be conducted at Southampton Cemetery on Monday, July 23rd, at 11 a.m.

Weeden, James Keith
At his home in Paisley on Sunday, June 24th, 2001, in his 85th year, Keith Weeden of Paisley, husband of the late former Alice Brown, dear father of Gordon and his wife Marie Ann of New Market, and Jim and his wife Marjoire of Woodstock. Also surviving are two grandchilden, Suzanne and Ashleigh, one sister, Bertha Scott of Paisley, and one sister-in-law, Heather Weeden. Predeceased by one sister, Kathleen Porter and two brothers, Gordon and Harold.

Dear father of Linda and her husband Wayne Lalonde of Alliston, Bonnie and her husband Eugen Balogh of Port Elgin, Harvey and his wife Nanette of Hamilton, Ed and his wife Dee of Cambridge, Lornie and his wife Pauline of Paisley, Florence of Woodstock, Donald and his wife Donna of Mississauga, Dorothy and her husband Brian Jackson of Keswick, and Dave Koskela and his wife Jenn of Surrey, B.C. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three brothers, and three sisters. He is predeceased by his parents and three sisters.
