At the Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 in her 90th year, the former Mamie Houston, wife of the late Archie Docherty. Loving mother of Dorothy Thomson (Chris) of Toronto and John Docherty of Wawa. Loved Grandmother of Alex, Beth and Kristen Thomson.She is predeceased by 6 brothers and sisters.

At her residence on Wednesday, May 10th, 2006 at the age of 75 years, the former Shirley Brooks of Paisley and formerly of Galt. Wife of Leonard DeVries of Paisley. Mom of Paul and his wife Nancy of Mildmay, and Carol Asselin of Hanover. Grandmother of five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by an infant son Alan.

At the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Sunday, July 11th, 2004, at the age of 42 years, Mark deRoux of Morin Heights, Quebec and formerly of Port Elgin. Son of the late Kathleen and William deRoux. Brother of Keith Anne and her husband Graham Marr, Margy and her husband John Bell, all of Port Elgin, Robin of Ridgetown, Chris of London, and Whitneyof Port Elgin. He is also survived by his aunts Vivian Wotton of London, Eleanor Wark of Port Elgin, three nieces and three nephews.

Father of Glen and his wife Deanna of Oakville, and Kelly and her husband Wade Taylor of Milton. Dear “Nonno” of Kyle Del Bel and Evan Taylor. Sadly missed by his dearest friends George and Gloria Gilmour of Southampton. Brother-in-law to Lino and his wife Carole Pighin of Toronto and “Zio” to Erin and Lauren Pighin, brother-in-law of Dina Del Bel of Toronto, and “Zio” to Renzo Del Bel and Nadia Zanardo. He is predeceased by his brother Bruno Del Bel and by his sister Ines Frigo.

He will be missed by Janis of London and Stephen of New Brunswick. Grandpa to Hailey and Graham. He is also survived by his sisters Ida, Helen, Jane, and Shirley, by his brother Ralph, and by his stepsister Betty. He is predeceased by his father Koert Dekker and his step-father Bill Parsons.

Simone Day (Verdun, nee Piche)
Simone Day passed away peacefully at Saugeen Memorial Hospital, Southampton, Ontario on November 30th, 2003, at the age of 86. Born in Verner, Ontario September 17th, 1917, dear daughter of Alexina Boisvert and Jules Piche, both predeceased. Cherished wife of John Day and predeceased by first husband Camille Verdun. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons, Roger (Karen) Verdun of Vernon, B.C., Michael (Magda) Verdun of Keswick, one daughter, Gisele Whiteman (Richard) of Dorset, one stepson Peter (Carolyn) Day of Southampton, Mike (predeceased) (and Nellie) Day of Sault Ste. Marie .Dear sister of Dora (Ed) Begin (predeceased) of Sudbury and Lorenzo (Zozo) of London England (predeceased), sister-in-law of Oscar and Flo Boyer and son Gerry (predeceased). Lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews in Sudbury - Pat (Ron) Kenyon, Jean (Bill) Williams, Susan, Rita, Rollande and Jeanette, Ray (Donna) Boyer, and their children. Loved by her grandchildren - Danny (Angela) of Union Bay, B.C., Richard (Fiona) of Brampton, Kevin (Bonnie) of Ottawa, Candice and Trevor of Toronto and Kasper of Keswick; and her five great-grandchildren - Camille, Renee, Kieran, Cameron and Anthea.
Simone was a pioneer with the Ladies Auxiliary of Branch 225 of the Canadian Legion in Sturgeon Falls and the Musee Sturgeon River House Museum and was very fondly remembered for her years of dedicated service at Gervais Restaurant, Sturgeon Falls. As she was blind when she left us, in lieu of flowers, Simone asked that donations be made to the Bruce County Public Library for her favorite thing - talking books.
A family funeral service of remembrance will be held at the W. Kent Milroy Chapel, 510 Mill St., Port Elgin.

Son souvenir restera gravé dans la memoire des nièces et neveux de Sudbury, - Pat (Ron) Kenyon, Jean Williams (Bill), Susan, Rita, Rollande et Jeanette, née Boyer, Ray (Donna) Boyer, et leurs enfants.

John Day
John Hunt Day, recently of Port Elgin, passed away on Friday morning, July 2nd, 2004, Loving husband of the late Simone Verdun, Elizabeth Scott, and the late Kathleen Everard.Beloved father of Peter and his wife Carolyn of Southampton, and predeceased by his son Michael.Stepfather of Gisele and her husband Richard Whiteman of Dorset, Michael Verdun and his wife Magda of Keswick, and Roger Verdun and his wife Karen of Kelowna B.C., Grandfather of Richard and his wife Fiona, Kevin and his wife Bonnie, Trevor and Candice; great-grandfather of Keiran, Cameron and Anthea.He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Nellie Day.
Formerly of Sturgeon Falls, Oakville, and Sault Ste. Marie, John was a resident of Elgin Lodge in Port Elgin.John retired in 1983 after 35 years with Abitibi (Sault Ste. Marie and Toronto).He was a major in the 49th Militia Regiment in the Soo, following his military experience as a Squadron Leader in the RAF prior to 1946, serving in India during the war. John was active in the Soo Theatre Workshop, Camera Club and Sturgeon Falls Museum.He was an ardent architect, woodworker, gardener and fisherman.
His family wishes to thank the staff at Elgin Lodge for their love and support for John and Simone over the past two years.We also wish to thank the staff at the Southampton Hospital for their care of John during the last month.
A family service was held at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel in Port Elgin on Sunday, July 4th.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Grandma to Matthew and Jason, Michael, Jennene and Jeffrey, Sean and Justin, and Josh and Melissa. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren. Mary is predeceased by her sisters Hannah and Verna, and by her brother John.

Emma Darlington
At her residence, Saugeen First Nation, on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2003, at the age of 68 years, the former Emma John. Wife of Les Darlington. Mother of Darlene Hunter, Philip Nashkewa and Irene, Ronald Nashkewa and his wife Linda, Mario Darlington and Judy Darlington, all of Guelph. Grandma to Paul and Donna St. Jules. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter Cierra. She is predeceased by her parents, brothers, and sisters.
